Scheduling the flight home

What time would be the earliest to schedule the flight home from a cruise? We will probably have a rental car parked at port, so waiting for transport won't be an issue, but returning a rental car will be. Do you get back from port early enough to warrant doing something else in Orlando before flying back? (like flea market souvenir shopping, Disney Quest, water parks...or any of the other sundry things to do in Orlando?)

You'll be off the ship by 9:00 so you certainly do have time to spend in Orlando that day if you want to.

I wouldn't schedule a flight before 11:30 or so; you'll be at the airport by 10:00 at the latest but with returning the rental car and increased security you would want to allow extra time.

I would allow even extra time...once we didn't get back to port and off the ship til close to 10am! This was due to a sick passenger the night before so we were very delayed getting back. Heard this happened to the cruise the week after ours also. After that incident, I would play it safe and book a flight farther out in time just for your peace of mind because you never know! I would rather wait a few hrs then be stressed about missing a flight!

Thanks for the replies. I realized after posting this thread that there were two other threads that answered my questions. I am sorry I didn't look a little harder before posting. I appreciate the prompt replies.
