Scattered/Isolated Thunderstorms?

So how bad is this? Weather report for our trip:

Sunday (arrival, no plans) Isolated thunderstorms, 30%

Monday (MK big day) Scattered T storms, 40%

Tuesday (MK extra day) Sunny, dry

Wednesday (swim/relax at hotel) Sunny, dry

Thursday (Animal Kingdom) Isolated T storms 30%


So first off, for those of you that spend a lot of time down there, how serious is this? Are we talking a rainy, gray week or just an hour or two of storms in a few places one or two days, may not even see any rain?

Secondly, how should we rearrange our schedule? I was thinking we'd stay at hotel to swim on the worst (most likely rain) day--Mon-- so we can swim for the best 1-3 hours of the day and be inside (somewhere) the rest of the day.

If the weather report doesn't change, should we do this:

Mon (40%)--hotel, indoor non WDW stuff (what? no movies or disneyquest)
Tue--Animal Kingdom (UOG best park) crowd level 6
Wed--MK 1 (outdoor heavy) -- not best or avoid crowd level 6
Thur (30%)--MK2 (indoor heavy) -- park to avoid and crowd level 8!!!!

Thunderstorms are very common as Florida warms up in the late spring through early fall. Typically, they will start popping up in the mid to late afternoon and last maybe an hour and then the sun comes back out again.

On top of the short nature of the T-Storms, they are usually fairly small in size and it can be bright and sunny over at MK while Epcot is getting stormed on.

Overall, don't worry about predictions of T-Storms in the warmer months in Florida. It's a very common occurrence and they are typically way too spread apart to be of any real concern.

in the 10 visits i hae made to Disney world, (lasting 5 to 14 days a visist) every day had "Scttered Showers" and/or "isolated thunder storms".

And in all those days, and all those warnings, i have only seen the rain come down twice.

Now i have walked into an attraction where the ground is dry, and walked out and everything is wet for 5-10 minutes, but then it evaporates in the post rain heat wave, and you would never know it was raining.

take ponchos & go to the parks regardless of the weather predictions. If you skip park time because of rain predictions you could very well miss most of your park time! It is completely possible to have rain all day every day...or have the 20 min downpour every afternoon. Last year in May we had incredible downpours every single day while we were in a restaurant eating dinner. Virtually every day started out clear & sunny...cloudy by early afternoon and black as night between 5 & 6 p.m. And pour sheets of rain...blinding rain. Then it would stop about an hour later & generally clear off again. But two days didn't work out...one day at Epcot poured for about 6 hours. The puddles were up over our ankles. The good news is the majority of Disney attractions are inside (and have inside or covered waiting areas, too) So toss your ponchos on when you're going between rides. But go on the rides, lol.

I live 2.5 hours from Disney and have been a Florida girl all my life. That's great weather! Don't worry about the rain percentage. With those percentages, you will most likely end up getting no rain.....or very little. It will probably pop up and then leave within a half hour or less.

And honestly, we were at MK a few weeks ago during Spring Break. I'm not completely sure, but I bet the crowd levels were at an 8 or a 9. I expected it to be jam packed, But it wasn't terrible.

I live in Central Florida...and that not bad at all. When it rains it's normally very hard fast and for a short time. Some storms are only 10 minutes.

So pack some ponchos for just in case...and enjoy WDW !

I think they take the words: sunny, cloudy, partly, isolated, and scattered and throw them in the air....and how they land is how the weather forecast looks for the week. It really has no bearing oh what the weather really is.

I just appreciate they leave the words: snowy, blizzard, icy out of their mix

In the warmer months, usually when it starts to rain, we just duck into a ride, attraction or restaurant.....many times by the time it is through, the rain is through.

We are also going next week and it looks like just our travel day - Monday - looks like rain and since we leave early in the am, not too worried about flight interruption so far...so good!!

To me, that reads: don't change your plans because of the weather, just pack a poncho just in case. You're going to have beautiful weather for your vacation.

That's how I read it too. Those numbers look great. There are often thunderstorms and they don't hit everywhere (hence scattered or isolated). The worst thing is you get wet for a short time, and I mean like 20 minutes short lots of times. Don't worry about that weather forecast at all. If I read that before my trip I'd be saying, "Weather forecast is very good for our trip."

It rains a lot in Florida, but it is seldom "rain out your day" rain like we have here in Michigan. Enjoy your vacation!
