Gee... I haven't even started my shopping yet!!!! :rotfl:

Good moringing... I mean Good morning! It was another 4:30 am wake up call from my furry 4-legged child.... That extra 45 minutes of sleep would have been wonderful....

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning, Sassies! Nice to have some company at this hour, Julie! We got home from the swim meet last night at 11:30. It was a long one, but fun. Since our summer league meets are Wednesday nights, Thursday morning practice is usually sparsely attended. So, they started throwing breakfast in as an enticement. This is when we learned that Barney will do almost anything for a doughnut.;)

Anyway, off to the pool I go. Julie, you would like me to take Atlas for his morning swim while you go back to sleep?

Oh, yes, Wilma!! That would be great. He is very social, but if he sees something chase-able (cat, kid, etc.), then he loses what sense he has...

After a good swim, he should nap a good bit of the day. So you can either send him back then or enjoy him while he is cute, sleeping, and not inciting a shopping trip to replace something he has enjoyed as only he can..... :worried:

Oh, and when he gets stubborn, you may have to get down and in his face and reason with him. I think it makes him feel important...typical male....::yes::

Have fun!

Morning, Sassies! Another lovely day! I am so glad the heatwave is over. I am LOVING summer so far!

I love this early morning time at work. Alone in the office and only 2 or 3 kids in the school so far and the other two teachers are off in their classrooms. Peace and quiet! Except for the occasional parent walking through, but they are always fun to chat with!

They finally did hire an Assistant Principal, so it's too late to go back on my decision not to accept the job! Fine by me!

I see Wilma and Julie were up early!! :yay:

Hope y'all have a great day!

Good Thursday Morning

Mom's medical update: Saw the

yesterday. I told him about Mom not eating or exercizing. Well of course she denied it. Rule #1: don't lie to your surgeon, they aren't stupid.:lmao: Mom cannot stand on her own, so I pick her up, then she can usually walk. Big giveaway at the Phy. office, don't ya think.;)

Her tumor was ductal adenocarcinoma, head of the pancreas and duodenum,
measured 4.7. Mom was getting the food lecture, Cole and I were reading the lab report.

Mom's swelling of hands and feet are caused by water due to lack of protein, malnunutrition. She is not well enough for the radation or chemo to come.
We have an appt. with the oncologist on Tuesday.

She has 3 weeks to get it together or we go feeding tube. What I need now are some good high protein recipes/ no peanut butter.:lmao: And for her to

when I give her her rx's. Hey I didn' write em, I just have to give em at the proper time.

And yes, I'm tired.:worried:

Good morning Sassys! Beautiful day here, we have been cool the last 2 days and we may reach 70 today. I'm not complaining though.

Julie, your puppy is so adorable! It almost makes me want another puppy, then I remember the potty training and change my mind.

Wilma, doughnuts are a great enticement smart coaches! How do you do it though? I think I would collapse from exhaustion.

Bonnie, does it even feel like work after having those 2 disruptive boys in your class? You have a pretty good gig going!

Judi, feed her a cow. Puree it is you must. Does she just not want to eat or does she try and not feel well? I'm thinking about you! If you need to talk don't call my cell since I still don't have a replacement, but you can call the house since I'm always here.

Tricia, I was having problems with my battery last winter. I learned how to use the battery charger correctly now I don't have to wait for Brian. I feel empowered!

Angie, I have been missing you all the time! I haven't been feeling so great and have been in bed before my children the last 2 nights. Its so wrong.

Heather, any news?

:rotfl2:

True, but the treatment lasts 21 years! How about some advil instead?;)

Judi - Mr. FofP and Barney drink protein shakes. They get the powder from Amazon, I think, and it is called Gold Standard Whey, Double Chocolate flavor. We've also put it in vanilla yogurt. Barney's coach (he's also a Family Practice MD) once told me that he thought one of the biggest barriers to getting kids (and anyone with low stamina/attention span) to eat protein was the chewing required. Seriously! They just don't want to use the energy to chew it all up, and they get full fast because it's all digested in the stomach and mouth. So, hence the shake/yogurt idea - the protein gets in quickly with minimal effort. If peanut butter is not an option, how about soynut butter or almond butter? I'll keep researching the protein issue - PM me if you have more questions, okay?

Bonnie- that is one swell gig you have there! How long does it last, again?

Becca - Barney was really dragging this morning, but then there was bacon, eggs, danish and fruit salad for breakfast. Yep, he's a smart coach. Parents not allowed to eat, though, so I appeased myself with a Diet Coke, which also helped me not to fall into a slumber and tumble into the pool. Always a plus. I get tired of the schedule, but Barney is always so happy in the water, it kind of makes up for it I guess. I can sleep when I'm dead.;)

Julie - I shall have to rig up some type of fake rabbit to pull along the pool's edge so that Atlas can chase it and get his morning swim done. Whatever works! Plus, it will give me something to do so that I don't fall asleep, snoring in the most scandalous way, on the lounge chair. Barney will be grateful if Atlas can save him this embarrassment.:)

Good morning, Tricia, Heather and Angie! How are things? Anything new in the lands of sweltering heat?

Oh, Judi! How hard and frustrating that must be...I know taking care of parents isn't easy, especially when they are struggling to have "control"...and not wanting to do what the drs say....

Is there anything your mother can't have or that are difficult for her to eat besides peanut butter???

Morning Tricia

Your car okay today? Car=money pit:rotfl: $4.089 a gal. up here.

Thank goodness it was just the battery. $100.00 later I'm good to go again. :moped: Gas around here is right at $4.00 a gallon. :worried:

Good morning, Tricia and Angie! How are things? Anything new in the lands of sweltering heat?

You got that right.

Colin has a playoff game tonight at 7:00 and yep, it will still be hot then. As I'm sitting there talking with the other mom's before the game I'll notice the heat but once the game starts somehow I don't feel it anymore. :lmao: Go Astros! (that's his little league team)

She hates peanut butter:rotfl2: Likes peanuts. :confused3

:woohoo: She took her meds & ate a 1 egg omelet with cheese this morning.
With no fight.  Hey, got her up, food or tube, Food was the choice. :cool1:

I get to play mean Mom & mean daughter at the same time.

Judi,
Recipezaar has a large protein recipe section. You can search by word, ingredient, category and nutrition. I'll PM you the link.

I had found some great books about nutrition for cancer patients at Barnes & Noble for my dad. I don't remember off the top of my head about protein, but I am sure they talk about it and had recipes. They do say cancer cells love sugar, so that should be used sparingly if possible.

Being a good librarian, I found some other info:

BLACK BEANS

(1 cup cooked) 227 calories, 15 g protein, 41 g carbs, 1 g fat, 15 g fiber

* Like other beans, black beans rank high in fiber and protein, but their main claim to fame is their extremely high levels of anthocyanins, the potent antioxidants found in deeply colored foods such as berries and grapes (and therefore wine) that studies suggest can help fight heart disease and cancer.

KIDNEY BEANS

(1 cup cooked) 225 calories, 15 g protein, 40 g carbs, 1 g fat, 13 g fiber

* A relative of the navy or white bean, the kidney bean's color means it boasts high anthocyanin levels. In fact, kidney beans are second only to black beans in antioxidant activity.

And I know cottage cheese can be high in protein...

I can try to find you more info or articles if you like, just let me know or PM me.
You are in my thoughts!!!!

Hey, Sassies! Im' home from work. I stopped at the grocery store on the way home. I have to decide if we are having taco salad, tacos or homemade chili tonight. Brent took the girl to the orthodontist so I can't ask them! Which do you think I should make? :confused3
