We will be on the May 15th sailing out of San Diego and I was wondering if there is parking at the pier or if I have to park off the pier? I had read something about a park and go but that they do not want you arriving to their location before 11 am...

Help!

Or is it easier to stay at a nearby hotel and park the car there and take a shuttle or cab? It will be me and two young children. The easiest way embark and disembark the better!

Thanks!

There is no parking at the "pier". There are a few hotels/private parking lots close (like right across the street) to the pier.

We parked at the Wyndam, but you need to make advance reservations for it to be sure you can get a spot. It's directly across the street from the pier.

Can you tell me about walking over from the Wyndam? I assume you walked over after parking, right? Is it as simple as walking less than a block and then crossing the street at the crosswalk that I can see on GoogMaps? I'm planning to stay there on this year's Panama Canal cruise and am trying to figure out how far the walk is to be sure that my travelling party can make it with our luggage.

It's about 1/2 block from the parking structure to the street, and the street is about 4 lanes wide.

In this picture (taken from the Wonder) the side walk out from the parking structure is just to the left of the sort of roundish brown building on the left. The crosswalk is to the right (just past the next building). Cross the street, and there you are.

We reserved our valet parking at the Wyndham in October. Book early if you can cuz several people in our FB group missed out. I dropped DH, the kids, & luggage off. We had a porter take the luggage. Then I drove to the Wyndham . This was about 10am. Easy drop off. Easy walk back across the street. Would definitely do it again.

When we left the ship, the porter took us to a parking spot. Then DH stayed w/the kids while I walked across the street & came back w/the car.

Great thanks for the information. How much was the parking at the Wyndham?

Trying to find a cheaper hotel to stay overnight but then park the car at the Wyndham.

Any ideas?

To be honest, I don't remember. Valet is slightly higher than self parking. Valet was worth it to me. They whisked my car away and at pickup I might have waited just a few minutes. Was really fast!

For our 5 day cruise, I want to say it was around $75. Good luck!

Actually, I found the website I used... Sandiegocruiseshipparking.com. $13/day self parking, $17/day valet parking plus $2 service fee.

You must prepay in full. I printed my receipt then showed it to them at drop off and pickup.

The Aladdin lot is about a mile away and has shuttles to the port. We've used it twice. Last time, we chose to walk from the lot since the shuttles get backed up. In the future, I'd choose Wyndham first and if we missed out, I'd go back to Aladdin.

You always post the exact kind of pics I'm hoping for! So is the tall building to the right of the parking garage, the Wyndham?

We're doing the Mexican Riviera next year and have been spoiled by staying at the Pan Pacific in Vancouver... we really love getting up early to watch the ship come in! I've read the Wyndham and Embassy Suites are the two closest to the terminal. Would it be just as easy for us to watch the Wonder come in from the Embassy, or is Wyndham really the best option? (We don't need to be able to see it from our room, but do want at least a quick/short walk to see it).

Thanks!

The building to the right of the short, brown (roundish looking) building is part of the Wyndham. It's all rooms. The lobby and other rooms are in the building to the left of the brown building (a bit behind and to the left) with the blue edge running up the side.

You can't see the parking garage as it's kinda behind that brown building and the tower to the right. And it's only like 2 stories tall.
