Well usually Fridays I am off, but I got a temp job for today. Need to make money for the trip to Disneyland. So my plan of going to the gym and grocery shopping is out. I went out for groceries last night, didn't get back until 10:30, finally got to bed at 11. Exhausted this morning, just gotta make it thru the day. I can get to bed early tonight and tomorrow morning I will get on the treadmill and do a run or incline walk.

Weight: up to 176.8 :headache: I didn't get a lot of water last night, have a feeling that may be part of it.

Tomorrow I am using a bit of flex, as it is SuperBowl and we are having Subway. We really aren't doing much, the inlaws are coming over for a while. But DH said he wants to have chips and dip and cookies with his sub. I have my peppers cut up to munch on instead of chips. Plus I am going to the gym in the morning so I will earn some exercise points for that.

Had a good nights sleep, hit the gym at 7 am. Did 10 minutes of rowing, 30 minutes of weights/abs and 30 minutes on the elliptical. Earned 4 exercise points.

Veronica:

Excellent job staying within your points and planning ahead. I can relate to the exhaustion! Sometimes I believe it's the dark that is driving and not exactly the rigors of the day. For me, at least, getting up in the dark and coming home in the near dark make me want to hibernate instead of get things done. Exercise in the dark! I hate it. I will be so glad when we start getting some real daylight back.

You have a great plan for surviving the Super Bowl treats. Stick to it. We women don't do guilt well--it doesn't become us.

All I can say about the student bullying and fights is that in my estimation it is getting worse instead of better. It starts on the social networking sites and by text message. I can't tell you just how many times the fights are posted on YouTube before admin has the opportunity to deal with them and it makes the bullying worse--never ending cycle. Yet, our school board won't act to put strick rules on the cell phones in schools. And honestly, the parents texting their kids during the school day is worse--and if the kids don't answer right away then the messages increase. No, the kids shouldn't have in or on--but all the devices are in their pockets vibrating away and they peek to see who is sending. When it's mom, they feel the need to answer. My standard response is - text this: Mrs. B says you can do the Tuesday school for interrupting class instead of your daughter/son. I'm taking the phone and sending it to admin with the discipline referral now. I'm so done with it--I want to get one of those illegal devices to block all signals.

Sorry about the rant! Your DH is a gem for dealing with all of it; cranky teachers, destructive students, and the drama. :)

take care,
Laurie

So the SuperBowl did not turn out as my DH would have liked (he is a Colts fan) but I do like the Saints, so I don't feel bad about the outcome. Unfortunately, I feel bad about all I ate last night. While I ate what I had planned on, I feel really bloated and bleh this morning.

I did 30 minutes on the treadmill today, earning 2 exercise points.

Weight: back up to 176.4-I know this is temporary water retention, and should be back down tomorrow.

I swear on a stack of Bibles that I am eating a salad. Not going off track today. Friends, keep me in your thoughts that I stay strong!!

Ok so I didn't have a salad, but I did good
I had a chicken pita with tzatziki and veggies. Nothing else, even though it came with fries and macaroni salad. Wasn't even tempted by the fries and salad.

Laurie, the school stuff, I hear ya. DD cannot take a phone to school in elementary, but next year in middle school she can. We have already discussed rules, but alas, its the other kids I worry about, no her so much.
Yeah, and the exercise in the dark, just no fun. I love going out to run when the sun is coming up, its almost religious for me. Looking forward to getting back on the pavement and off the TM belt!!

Tuesday is one of my better days of the week. It is payday, which is always a plus. Biggest Loser is on tonight as well, and DD and I will do some walking on the TM while watching. And usually the indiscrections of the weekend are overcome by Tuesday. Not completely, but almost.

My goal is to be at 170 by the end of the month. I am reasonably sure I can get there, possibly even hit 169 by the 28th. Staying on track on the weekends is the issue sometimes, but I don't see any reason why we can't have a good weekend and not "blow it" this weekend. No games to watch, no dinners to attend, no occasions to celebrate. So we should be good. Thats the plan anyway.

We are supposed to get some snow today, they are now saying 3-6". Not snowing yet, DD hoped school gets out early. I am hoping not.;)

No exercise this morning, going to class tonight, provided the Y is open.

weight 175.4 I was hoping for a lower number, but I think that because I did not eat all my points yesterday I slowed down.

points for today: 23 + 2 if I make it to class, if not, I will do the TM. ETA: Made it to class, also shoveled the driveway, so another exercise point for me. So 26 for today

WOW Veronica you guys are in school- I thought you would be getting the snow by now.We don't have a flake yet and all the schools in western Ma. are closed.

Good job on the weight- weekends are tough when everyone has different schedules and you can't plan a decent meal or you are out and they all want to eat out but all I can think of is the sodium content of everything and there is no way to avoid it.

How far is Buffalo from you guys? There is a 1/2 in May I was reading about on the events board.

Linda

Our school is open, I got out of work at 12:00 since all my patients decided the few flakes would prevent them from coming for their appointments.

Buffalo is 4.5-5 hrs from us, my brother went to school there. In the summer its a nice drive, but anytime from Oct to April can be dicey.

Veronica:

I sure hope the storm isn't as nasty as predicted in your area. I'm not happy with the rain this afternoon and evening (because I'm a wimp and don't want to walk in it), but I don't envy your white stuff.

Keep up the incredible willpower foodwise, you'll likely meet your goal with all that self discipline.

Laurie

Was really tired last night after class, which is a good thing. Sleepy this morning too, but after thorough caffeination:surfweb:, I am good to go.

I had a terrible day today at work. In 18 years of dental hygiene, I have never had a problem with a patient like I did today.

New patient, young woman. Had been to the dentist in October. She had a bit of build up on her teeth, so I set to work on cleaning them. She immediately jumps about 3 feet as soon as I try to start cleaning. So I tell her that if she is that uncomfortable, I can give her novocaine to make her feel better. Now I am going to say this and hope it does not offend anyone, but here goes. She was of middle eastern descent, muslim. She barely spoke and I could hardly hear her when she did. So I go about the preparations for giving her the anesthetic. As soon as I start to bring my hand with the syringe up, her arms go flying, hitting mine. I stop and ask her what the problem is. She is not speaking much, can't or won't articulate what the issue is. I attempt again. Same result. I am trying to be calm, explaining to her the choices: take the anesthesia and be comfortable for the cleaning, don't take it and suffer through the cleaning or get out of my chair and see a dentist who will sedate her. No, she says (meekly) go ahead with anesthesia. Try again. Same thing, only this time I actually got the needle into her when the arms fly. I am shaking by this point, afraid of what is going to happen. I tell her, sorry we can't help you, you will need to see someone to sedate you. My boss goes in, he tells her the same, she asks for one more chance. I somehow manage to get her lower teeth numb, but not without screaming on her part and constant fear of flying arms on hers. Soon as I start, she keeps on with the arms and carrying on. She is so numb there is no way she can be feeling anything I am doing. No she says it is the water (what about it, its water???). Finally manage to do the lower teeth, now to attempt the uppers. Same drill only with more screaming. Then she needed an xray of a bad tooth, which needs extraction. Again, nothing but moaning and groaning. I had it at that point.

I asked her if she had kids, she said 3. So tell me how one has 3 children but cannot have a cleaning or suck it up long enough for me to do what needs doing? We had to refer her to a specialist for the extraction of the bad tooth, I doubt she will go until she is in agony. And I sincerely hope to not see her again. (she did not make another appointment).

Sorry for the long, ranting post, but I needed to vent. At lunch I sooo wanted to go eat something bad, but I stuck with what I brought for lunch. For dinner, I ate the chicken salad that my friend brought me at work (my coworker Laurie make the absolute best chicken salad ever, I cannot resist it).

I walked tonight with DD, may run tomorrow morning, am hoping for a change on the scale soon.

OMG Veronica, I am a registered nurse and it just kills me when people act like that. That is always my line- and how many kids do you have? Or for the men I say "Imagine having a grapefruit pass through your favorite part" as a comparison to birth.

I love this especially when we have the tatoo covered dudes and dudettes crying because they are afraid of needles- R-I-G-H-T!

The longer I am in this profession the more I see how whacked most people are-HA!HA!

You were good, you lasted longer than I would have in this situation. There is alot put upon us to deal with in this country that would not be tolerated if the situation was in reverse.
Act like that in her country- sure!

Linda

Well after yesterdays stressful day, I fully expected a gain this morning. But I had a small loss, not much but a loss none the less. Starting my new Friday job today, they have lunch brought in every Friday, I will have to see what I can do. I still have flex points at least.

First, thanks Linda for the thoughts. It was just so frustrating and I was really afraid I was going to hurt her or get hurt myself. I can take the ones who ooh and aah but this one took the cake. Really, I sincerely hope she finds another office to go to.

So last night was Kids Activity Night at TKD for DD, a 3 hour party basically so the parents can go out. We had left it up to DD if she wanted to go, she said she did. So DH and I went out to eat, not what I really wanted to do, but.... We decided on Red Robin, which is probably one of the only chain restaurants I like to go to. I had a plain burger no bun, with lettuce, tomato and guacamole. Love the (bottomless) fries, but DH took them away from me after a bit. The thing I like about Red Robin is that they really don't seem to mind how you want the burger, it came out on a plate (instead of the basket DH''s came in) with everything seperate so that I could put it together how I wanted. One of these times, I'll get the chicken instead of the burger, but it just called to me.

I was fully expecting a gain this morning, after lunch yesterday (I had a grilled chicken salad with italian dressing and bread of some sort which was totally yummy). Then the Red Robin. But I was down another .2, taking me to 175. For the week, that is a 0.6 lb loss. I'll take it!

Busy morning this morning, slept in (8:45:eek:) then kid to TKD, off to the bakery outlet to stock up on my WW bread. Then back to TKD, get the kid off to Walmart to do our grocery shopping. 1.5 hours and $160 later, we get home. DD has a friend sleeping over tonight, so more insanity here at casa de Snyder.

Tomorrow is gym day, gonna change up my cardio and do the recumbent bike and the arc trainer instead of the rower and elliptical.

I got up early for the gym and only when I got there did I remember that they were having the "Love to Tri" indoor triathalon. Its kinda neat, 15 minutes each in the pool, on the spin bikes and on the track. They record your distances on each and then they determine a "winner". It is really a way to get folks into tri's, and it levels the playing field in that all the really fit/fast people spend the same time as a newbie. If I could swim better, I might "tri" it:lmao:

But I spent 70 minutes in the gym-10 on the recumbent bike, 30 minutes lifting and abs and 30 minutes on the arc trainer.

Presidents Day today, which means most everyone is off work except me:headache:. And the kids are off school this whole week for "winter break" We are expecting a storm tomorrow, 3-6 inches of snow, no big deal really.

Got to sleep in a little (got up at 6 instead of 5:15) did my 30 minutes on the TM. I have the cold DD has, so my sinuses are plugged up. Hoping good food and exercise will speed up my recovery.

Weight: 173.6 :cool1: down a whole pound from yesterday. Didn't expect that with my movie indiscretion, but hey, I 'll take it. Gets me closer to my goal of 170 by the end of the month.

I know I ate alot today. I am sick, feeling really terrible with a cold. Stuffed nose and head, achy, general tiredness. DH had his root canal finished today, so he stopped at McDonalds on the way home. At least I didn't have that, though I probably would have had roughly the same points.

I am going to try to get up tomorrow and walk. We are expecting snow tomorrow, so I am getting out of work at 2. DD and I will walk tomorrow night, but I really want to get my walk done in the morning as well. Going to bed soon. (its only 7:50)

Went to bed at 9:00 last night. Hate being sick. Got up at regular time this morning and did 2 miles on the TM. Getting out of work at 2 today, so have to adjust my meals for the day since we aren't taking lunch.

Well the little "dusting" of snow we were supposed to get turned out to be 6" of powder. I got home early yesterday and snowblowed the driveway for DH. Another stellar day yesterday-my boss tells me I talk too much and I need to stop engaging in personal conversation with patients. Its like cutting off my arm. My relationships with my patients are important to me, and many of my patients have become friends. I will not talk unless necessary, but I feel like my spirit has been squashed. Then to top off yesterday, one of our cats decided to pee on the bed at like 8 at night. So we had to strip the entire bed and get everything into the wash. It wasn't all done by bedtime, so I made the bed up with other linens, DH couldn't adjust (he's fussy) so he ended up sleeping on the couch.

Out shoveling again this morning, earned me 1 exercise point. Have class at the Y tonight for 2 more
