Runners' stairway from hell

This ship seems really poorly designed overall. What happened?

I'd welcome these stairs on the track, personally, because I usually walk/run somewhat hilly terrain at home, and a flat walk/run doesn't do much for me. However, it's a giant middle finger to people who can't do stairs (like many elderly people and people with limited mobility). What is the reason for this deck to be this way? What is preventing a complete loop on one deck?
I think the designers got the assignment: Just make it different from the other four ships.
Like with the lack of storage in the rooms, they didn't think about who is going to use this ship. No proper customer journey for all types of customer.
I think the designers only thought from their own perspective, 'what would I like on a ship'?

But what's the aft connection on deck 4 between port and starboard? Nobody ever posts the back of the loop. Does it actually connect without going inside?

The short answer is no. It leads to doors that looked like you shouldn't open, but it didn't say that. That was after I opened a plain door on deck 5 in the front (before I tried the stairs to deck 6) and I was in a dark room that looked like a bar. (I'll have to study the deck plan to see what that was.)
I'll have to go back and check the aft doors on deck 5 unless someone beats me to it.

So, these stairs are a problem but the ones between decks aren't?

Sorry, but reading the posts above leads me to think people are concerned about stairs period.
No one is trying to run or power walk between the decks indoors. There are elevators indoors for people who can't do stairs. This walking/jogging track is not accessible, and that is a problem for a lot of peo

No, but those of us that run don’t incorporate running up or down stairs every quarter mile into our daily runs. I personally think running down stairs is dangerous. Anybody that runs everyday has probably fallen before. All your weight goes forward it’s very hard to stop yourself.

These decks are also often wet. It's a bad combination, I agree.

ETA: the picture above actually shows that the deck and stairs are wet. Very dangerous.

This is the dumbest thing.

At the school I volunteer at they have hall etiquette rules and like number 1 is to not run on the stairs.

You can die/be seriously hurt falling down stairs. Now I am not saying we should get rid of all stairs but let’s not add runners and walkers at all levels of abilities and all different directions to the mix.

I actually think someone high up who approved this should be fired.

This was a benefit/feature/value addition that literally would have cost Disney nothing if they had just designed it correctly.

I can’t think of another ship feature that’s “free” to the cruise company, except maybe views.

Is this deck referred to as a jogging/walking track by DCL or have they maybe just removed having one on the Wish? Maybe they made the decision to no longer include an outdoor track feature on the ship and encourage exercise to take place in the fitness center and on Castaway Cay since it is a short cruise that regularly stops there.

I’m very curious to see if ships 6 and 7 are much different. This ship seems built for short sailings. Limited room storage, small adult only areas, lots of shopping, very fairytale themed. It’s almost as if it was built to be an extension of WDW. I’m looking forward to our 3 night in September, but it’s all too “in your face” for me for a longer sailing. I’m not sure I’d ever be able to relax on this ship.
