Run Now! It’s Wine 0’Clock in WDW…Cupcakes Gone W&D16

So ... I've never had a Margarita. Or tequila. So I'd probably just ask what they recommended for beginners and go with that.
Or I'd go crazy and go for the tequila flight.

I think the fact that they added a challenge is nice, but I wish they had kept them as night races - they could have done the 10K on Friday night. But that probably would have been a logistical nightmare.
Personally, I'm not thrilled with the changes. But I wasn't planning to do the race anyway, so my opinion doesn't really matter.

I adore Cava! I would sit there all day, margarita in hand, if I could! Blood orange and pineapple are two of my favs. I thought I would love the avocado (b/c I love avocados) but I didn't? :confused3

The changes were rough for me, I was a griper, briefly! :rotfl:For me I was most upset about the challenge. Money is really tight right now and I was upset that they waited until the last minute to announce it. I loved everything about the Princess challenge and had I had time to save, I would have done this challenge too. As it is, I'm lucky to even scrounge the money for the half, so I'll just have to get over it. As for switching from night to morning, I was looking forward to the challenge of a night run but super nervous about it. I'm a morning runner and also have had some issues with tripping and falling, so I'm fine with a morning race as I know I'll be at my best. I also think the after party will be more fun since we can clean up, eat, rest, etc. I'm not sure how long I would have stayed right after the race, sweaty and tired. So just some adjustments in attitude and I'm ready to go! :thumbsup2

Karen~ I think you are right, I am excited about the challenge, but the late announcement was annoying in that it won't enable people to save up for it.

I love Mexico and love margaritas. I am not sure which one I would have. I am a traditional margarita kind of gal, I like mine with patron and sugar instead of salt.

I am so excited for the W&D though and I am happy they added the 10k which my best friend is going to do as her first. Her husband was so on the fence due to the night time run, but was super excited about the morning. I was apprehensive about the late start time because I am a morning runner, but seeing as I have done 3 Ragnars, I knew I could handle it. But I find that this will make the days much more enjoyable! T minus 4 days until early registration.

I'm super excited now that the Star Wars route is up and most everyone thinks W&D half will be the same! It looks awesome! Epcot, Boardwalk, DHS, and AK?!! I'll take it! I'm over my disappointment and now excited that it's morning since that's when I'm at my best...but my Tweedle may not agree!:rotfl:

For those of us who are DVC and AP holders, tomorrow is the big day! My BF and I did some planning last night. Right now we are getting 2 studios at AKL-Kidani and plan on going to the waitlist for Polynesian. The 2 studios were cheaper than getting a 2 bedroom. The 2 bedroom would be more ideal, but she doesn't have many points to work with. I am getting so excited/nervous!

Excited for AP registration tomorrow, but the question still remains...what am I registering for...5K & half? 5K & challenge?? IDK...still have about 21 hours to decide lol.

AP registration went surprisingly well for me this morning. I was able to register for what I wanted & be done by 11:06 (according to my RunDisney confirmation). So, what did I register for...well, after waivering back & forth & back & forth over the challenge or no challenge, hubby convinced me that this would be a good training measure for Dopey 2018 to do the 5K & challenge, so...that is what I have signed up for. Now I just need to get Tammie registered next week.

Registration didn't go quite as smooth for our party. I was able to get in and done by 12:04 (email time stamp), but my DH, BF, and BF's husband were a minute behind me and got "on hold." We all were refreshing like mad people and my BF's husband was able to get the half. DH wants the challenge and BF wants the 10k and neither ever opened back up. I really hope Tuesday goes much better. I am going to register DH since I have a technique :).

I was able to register for the challenge by 12:03. Not too shabby. I only had myself to register this year though. Might have been a different story if I had to register DH too like last year. And after GSC this past year I said no more challenges, but here I am doing another one. But no 5K this time around so that should help a little bit as only two way too early mornings! But the morning runs are easier for me than the night runs!

And I went to La Cava for the first time Princess Half weekend. That blood orange margaritta is to die for! I tried a sip of someone's cucumber maybe and that was pretty good too!

So Jan and I were booked for 11/2-11/7 and I just extended us to the 8th in hopes of hitting the first Christams party. Because I love the Christmas party. But Jan is working so I haven't heard back from her. BUT...it's easier to take a day off then to add one, especially after these dates and regular registration takes place, since we are using the military discount, so a day has been added and we'll shift, adjust, take one off as we decide works best for us.

We are officially booked 11/3 to 11/9 now at the Swan!

It was significantly cheaper than the Beach Club/Boardwalk and still in that EPCOT area so we are happy with it! Worst case, we have to walk to Boardwalk/Yacht Club to get on the bus for race mornings.

Whet Your Appetite Wednesday:
Pre Planning Our Eat Crawl Around the World
Norway

Trying to find ways to pass the next 223 days, so Wednesday is going to be officially called “Whet Your Appetite Wednesday” because Cupcakes like eating and most of this trip will be focused around Food & Wine (and yes running Wine & Dine). Since the menus for F&W are not available for 2016 until the midSpring and we have pretty much covered favorite dining experiences and foods from around WDW…let’s start pre-planning some our Post Race Sunday Eat & Drink Crawl Around the World (information, rules and requirements later) by circling the World Showcase in search of the best snacks!
Next stop…the country of Arendelle,

frozen.jpg

err I mean Norway. I have to admit that I was not a Maelstrom (just thought it was so dated and dusty) and really I am not all that excited about more Frozen craziness but I will ride Frozen Ever After just to say that I did! Maybe with a few tequila shots still left over from Mexico will make it better. Let it go People so we can focus on the food…there has not been a Norway food booth at F&W so we have to look towards the other dining options in Norway.

I love the bakery and there is so many great items to pick from that it makes it hard…

IMG_8306.JPG

Ham & Apple Sandwich-One of my favorites in WDW for a QS meal. Love the apple chutney and munster cheese combo!

Kringla-Viking-Mousse-Display.jpg
Viking Chocolate Mousse-Well it is Norway and the mousse is pretty yummy and lots great.

kringla-bakeri-rice-cream-600x554.jpg
Rice Cream-This girl is a bread, tapioca and rice pudding fan! My ultimate comfort food group…pudding!

What looks good for a snack for you? Sweet or savory it does not matter.

I, for one, am thrilled it's a morning race. I knew I would not enjoy the party after finishing the 1/2.
Now we can rest and enjoy the day before eating around the world.

I know we now have all day and now the party at night to really do the F&W Cupcake Crawl correctly!!!! And this time I am not going to lose steam...we are shutting the place down!

Now I just wish I had an AP so I could attempt to register early.

I would love to say I was a Disney Pass Holder...but sadly I just never see myself being able to go more than 1 1/2-2 years. Maybe when I get rid of kids.

So are you taking part in the challenge?

I'd love to run this weekend some day. Most likely when I'm old enough to drink though.

I am hoping to get in for the challenge. I kicked myself all of PHM for not "SUCKING IT UP" and doing the challenge.

Ryan drinking really is overrated and while I talk big I really don't do a lot of it...only when I am around the cupcakes...LOL

I am the 'me no likey camp' because I am NOT a morning runner- I need the day to hydrate. :drinking:

I think you have a love affair with your water bottle...but I totally understand the hydrate part. You and Betsy...HYDRATE nagging tag team. I do love the atmosphere surrounding a night race however...

But, in reality- not a huge deal... I am glad I got to do the night race in 2013 - it was very different than Princess and I liked it better (because of the course, less people and it being night). I am kinda sad that this race will now be like Princess... BUT maybe it's a chance to redeem the very poor Princess race I had. So, like I said, not a big deal in the end. Roll with those changes, baby! Hahahaha!

Apparently all the negative nellies decided in the end that a Disney race, challenge and bling...were more important than being mad as the changes did not seem to effect AP registration...

I will not be doing the challenge. GSC was too much on me. I'd rather save my energy for just the 1/2. The good thing about the challenge is everyone will be going for it- leaving registering JUST for the 1/2 wide open for me! :thumbsup2

Great plan...

This announcement does affect our planned days- still not sure what we are doing.. but thinking Sat arrival now- Wed (vs Friday- Tuesday). We want more time AFTER the race to enjoy Disney without the stress of the race.

I like the idea of more time after the race...it was so sad when Cupcakes left last year right after the race..

Also, I HEART the Cave. And Melissa, I HEART that blood margarita. That's what I had during Princess. And that is what I'll be having again in November!

5 O'clock Friday -- I love margaritas!! I have yet to try the Avocado margarita, so that has to be on my list.

My thoughts for race registration...originally when I heard the news a few days ago, I instantly said I wanted to do the 5k & challenge. Now I have had a few days to mull it all over, & with each passing day, I am leaning more to the 5K & 1/2. My thought process behind it, I have a marathon 2 weeks after W&D, & I am thinking with each day, that skipping the 10K, even though it's only 6 miles, might be a good option for me. AND, I would be saving over $100 in the process.

So glad that I could be of assistance to help you make your choice...LOL.

So ... I've never had a Margarita. Or tequila. So I'd probably just ask what they recommended for beginners and go with that.
Or I'd go crazy and go for the tequila flight.

I good top shelf margarita is where you need to begin...with good high quality tequila...never be tight pursed with your first one!

I am so sorry there were mean RunDisney DISers that came down on you. Everyone has a right to their opinion! Not sure of all that went down in the thread...saw it days after. For me it really did not matter what they did to the race...this was a race on my list and my excuse to get away.

I adore Cava! I would sit there all day, margarita in hand, if I could! Blood orange and pineapple are two of my favs. I thought I would love the avocado (b/c I love avocados) but I didn't? :confused3

Whew...glad to know that someone else was not a fan of the avocado...it was okay. I think now I might try the pineapple!

The changes were rough for me, I was a griper, briefly! :rotfl:For me I was most upset about the challenge. Money is really tight right now and I was upset that they waited until the last minute to announce it. For the life of me I do not understand why the last minute announcement...I am sure it has to do with the park construction right now...but it was pretty lame of them and caused way too much drama. I hate having to have such a tight budget too...this month has been extremely tight and the extra $100 has been hard to come by.

I GIRL after my heart! Sugar and patron!!!

I am so excited for the W&D though and I am happy they added the 10k which my best friend is going to do as her first. Her husband was so on the fence due to the night time run, but was super excited about the morning. I hope that is the route too...and less time at WWOS. Actually WWOS is fun to run around...but running up and back the Oscella Parkway is NOT fun.

YAY for saving some money...having 2 separate living quarters might be better in the end...I hope you get your POLY dreams!

I am going to buy the first couple of rounds if you pull off my registration!!!! :worship::worship::worship:

Registration completed for my husband & I!

YAY

GIRL HAS THE TECHNIQUE...sorry about not everyone getting what they wanted! Hope it goes well on Tuesday!

I am so glad you are coming...I was bummed when I read your blog when the announcement came out:love:

And I went to La Cava for the first time Princess Half weekend. That blood orange margaritta is to die for! I tried a sip of someone's cucumber maybe and that was pretty good too!

Cucumber...hmmmmm

So Jan and I were booked for 11/2-11/7 and I just extended us to the 8th in hopes of hitting the first Christams party. Because I love the Christmas party. Cheaper and being at EPCOT is always good! Ride the bus with us!!!

First, so excited I'm coming too! I might need to get a job at Wal Mart to pay for it, but all that matters is I'm going! :cool1:

The only snack I've had in Norway was Anna's Birthday cupcake this past February! It was pretty delicious! I've always wanted to try school bread though.

Life Update Part 1
(Also known as the excuses why I have been absent from the DIS)

I have really neglected the PTR once again but March has been a crazy month for me travel wise. I started if off with a business trip to Louisville/Lexington, Kentucky for 5 days. I had a great time exploring on my own this beautiful part of the United States when the conference allowed me. Including …

1.jpg

Satisfying my sweet tooth trying a bourbon ball (I could learn to love bourbon eating these things), getting my steps in by walking over the Ohio River to Indiana, treating myself to a 4-star hotel (thanks Hotels.com) pre-conference, eating a hot brown and learning that I really like bourbon cocktails followed by a slice of Derby Pie,

2.jpg

Getting my steps in exploring the first Civil War Cemetery,

3.jpg 4.jpg

Exploring Churchill downs and dreaming of wearing at big hat , driving the bourbon trail and did a little bourbon sipping at the Jim Bean Distillery (where bourbon BBQ sauce on pulled pork, bread pudding with bourbon sauce, and bourbon ball ice cream are more ways to enjoy bourbon),

6.jpg

Eating the Parkette from Diners, Drives In and Dives!

5.jpg
And yes, I attended EVERY session of my conference!!!

Part 2 of the excuses

I then came home for 2 days before leaving with my children and their Boy Scout Venture Crew Dance Group for a spring break “tour” to California performing shows in Sacramento, Los Angeles and Phoenix…

Doesn't riding on a bus with a bunch of parents and children from 8-22 sound like a lot of fun?

but the highlight of the trip was getting into a soft opening of Universal Hollywood’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter where of course I had to drink a couple of butterbeers and ride my favorite ride, the Forbidden Journey (which is way better then Orlando’s).

And yes when it comes to butterbeer...I am a 2 fisted drinker!!!LOL (Not really but it does make a fun picture!)
