Run Now! It’s Wine 0’Clock in WDW…Cupcakes Gone W&D16

Tammie~ Such great excuses for being away. I have also neglected my PTR and hope to get to some of it next week. Your conference looked like it was in a beautiful area. Then looking at your session materials I noticed that they look very much like the Montessori materials that are used at my daughter's school. Not to bog down the blog with work stuff, but what were the materials for?
How is your savings going?

My extent of eating in Norway has consisted of Akershus breakfast lol. So, looking at the menu Kringla, maybe a berry cream puff or rullekake.

The only time I've ever really gone to the Norway pavillion is for dinner at Akershus. I really don't have that much interest in Norway...

Wow, you've been busy ... but it looks like a lot of fun! I'm super jealous that you made it out to Harry Potter ... I really hope I get out there on my next trip to California (whenever that happens...)!

Congrats to Cammy on the baby - he's adorable!!

I'm glad to see that so many cupcakes got in for the race(s) already, and I hope everyone who is registering this week gets in!

First, so excited I'm coming too! I might need to get a job at Wal Mart to pay for it, but all that matters is I'm going! :cool1:

The only snack I've had in Norway was Anna's Birthday cupcake this past February! It was pretty delicious! I've always wanted to try school bread though.

Gretchen...that cupcake looks amazing! We have to find a couple of cupcakes to share again! I am so excited that you are going...when I read your blog and it said you weren't I was VERY bummed. We are going to have such a great time...

Jennifer...I think a lot of the materials are probably in a Montessori classroom. The conference was about Numeracy and teaching from a conceptual way...going from the concrete to the abstract. We are really working with our teachers on this through the principals of Math Recovery and the classroom counterpart, Add+vantage. We use a lot of structures of 5, 10, 20

Well you know we simply have to change that!

ME TOO

We were so lucky to get into Harry Potter on a soft opening...it was open all day to a PRIVATE party and I was so down every time I walked past the entrance and could see the butterbeer cart and could not get to it. The last 2 hours they opened it up to the general public...I love Hogsmeade and there are lots of new windows to look in and a lot more breathing room as the street is wider. The shops are also a little larger and laid out better for crowds. The only thing I did not like was the there was no dramatic turning the corner and seeing Hogwarts...it is pretty much in view the whole time and due to space you can see other areas of the park. The forbidden journey is 4D in Hollywood...which makes for a how new level of fun and thrill! I loved it even more than Orlando.

Today is the day…I am a stressed out basket case over general public registration!

Poor Debra I am sure is even in a worse state of mind as I am relying on her to get me registered for Wine & Dine. What? Yep, I have to have someone else get me in…today is day 1 of state testing and I am completely tied up in administration of the assessments and Texas is ALL BUSINESS when it comes to giving assessments…so much I that I have to sign oaths and everything. Computers and phones are completely off limits. No way I can even so much sneak in race registration…UGH. Besides I would be so stressed for about 20 minutes with registration that there is no way I could active monitor the testing. Thankfully, I have a good friend who can take up my slack.

I remember the days not so long ago of signing up for Tower of Terror a month after registration opened…crazy to think now how fast races sell out. Now should things not go our way with ACTIVE…and we all know how much fun ACTIVE can be to deal with, we have a back up plan in place just to relieve a little stress thanks to another Cupcake. It requires a reworking/rearranging of plans…but we will cross that bridge if we have to at 12:30 EST today.

I totally forgot to post last Friday...and since I am up why not start Friday this week a little early...

It’s 5 O’clock Friday
(Only 31 More Friday’s)
In Norway

In order to pass the time away, instead of Cupcake Friday’s we are going to take a look at cocktails around the world…since we are partly fueled by cocktails. Maybe we can find them a little more readily then the cupcake disappointment we experienced on our PHM Cupcake Crawl! Following in line with Whet your Appetite Wednesday, let’s begin to focus on F&W and our Eat & Drink Crawl around the World that we are planning for Sunday after the race (Rules and Logistics to come later).

Next stop, Norway…where from warnings I do not want to try the Linie Aquavit Glacier Shot. Everything I have read says to STAY FAR FAR AWAY!

SO is there anything really to drink in Norway, other than beer, which I am not a huge fan of?

Kringla Bakery Menu

So bartender…

Pour me somethin' tall an' strong;
Make it a Viking Coffee
It's only half-past twelve but I don't care.
It's five o'clock somewhere.

Most people who know me also know that I am not a huge fan of coffee…I can handle a hint of coffee flavoring so maybe the Viking Coffee (flavored with Kamora Coffee Liqueur and Baileys Irish Cream) and the Viking Chocolate Moussee might be a good combination.
But if I am already feeling good…maybe a shot might just work? LOL

What are you having?

Registration day! I hope Debra was able to get you registered!

That Viking Coffee sounds delicious to me ... but I'm also a big coffee drinker, so I'll drink almost anything coffee-flavored.

It's official...Debra is officially the bestest RDBF (RunDisney Best Friend) EVER!!!!!

I can announce that I am...

What I should say is that I am REALLY in training for what comes after the half on Sunday...
Food-and-wine-Festival-logo-2012.jpg

the Food & Wine Crawl we have already started thinking about in this PTR. I know will be eating and drinking all those calories that I burned doing a 5K, 10K and Half ALL day on Sunday! I plan to eat till I am stuffed and drink till I am feeling HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY from opening till the end of the W&D After Party with whichever Cupcake Ladies join me!

Love the running group meme!!! I need that.

More like my running group can talk about drinking more than yours...we are all talk and no drinkie I am afraid. :rotfl2:

Saw that you were stalking ACTIVE today...you know you needed to come with us! Coffee...:crazy2::crazy2::crazy2::crazy2:

Yay! I'm so glad that Debra was able to get you in for everything!

I never doubted her ability for a second...but we did have a back up plan. Not sure how it went overall since I am not on FB anymore...but from the DIS it sounded pretty smooth for Active and RunDisney standards.

So glad I was able to get you registered! I was just as nervous, if not more nervous than my own registration last week.

From what I saw, the 10K went first, but if finally took several hours for the Challenge to go. Everything is officially sold out (I think).

OK, so...as far as drinks from Norway, um...not so sure about coffee liqueur, so...I might have to play it safe with a Baileys & coffee (yes, I know...coffee, but I am unsure of coffee liqueur lol) or a Voss water (I will need to stay hydrated that way as well lol)

Woohooo you're in! I'm going to live vicariously through you. I do have a cousin that will be running that weekend as well.

I know you were...that is why we had the back up plan and no matter what I was going...maybe getting out the running would have been more fun...NAH. I get you, Kafi and Buffy for the 10K...that makes me so happy! Thank you so much...I so owe you. It was killing me being trapped in a testing room with my phone on the other side of the door and I could not check it! That was the longest 45 minutes of my life...I have many more grey hairs.

Does Voss water count?

HEY RYAN...you get to live through the crazy old ladies again! LOL...have you warned your cousin about us?

Ok, this sounds divine and I'm kind of sad I missed it Princess weekend! So I am down for this one! Maybe it will be good halfway through the afterparty to keep us going?

Hmmm...I wasn't sure about this, although I did see some, much younger than I am, girls having this shot Princess weekend who said it was good. DFB says it tastes like licorice so I'm intrigued! (Just not sure this old lady is down for shots!)

Gretchen & Jan
lumiere and cogsworth.jpg
Well, the dynamic duo of Jan and Gretchen is officially registered for Lumiere's Two Course Challenge! So now seems like a great time for an introduction! (Written by Gretchen!) Jan and I met, what seems like forwever ago now. We both had kids in the same class at our local military base school. We served on the PTA together, and while we formed a friendship, I don't think either one of us had any clue how deep that friendship would become, and it's all thanks to runDisney! When it was time to register for Princess Half Marathon weekend 2015 I expressed on Facebook that I was interested and planning to register with some of my work BFFs. Jan commented and asked if I would mind her joining me. Of course I was ecstatic to have her on board. And in hindsight, I'm so grateful for her because everyone else had to defer and it was just Jan and I! We were total newbie runners and registered for the 5K and 10K...and that felt like a stretch at registration time, but I wish we stretched ourselves more!

Thanks to the cupcakes, Jan and I had a supportive, encoruaging group to prepare us for Princess 2015! We had some mixed plans because of the debacle of not having the original group we planned on, but we fell in love with our cupcakes and wouldn't change that for the world! After Princess we continued to run and signed up for the 2015 Wine & Dine Half Marathon, as well as the 5K and Glass Slipper Challenge for the 2016 Princess Half Marathon weekend. (Which ended up being our first official half marathon after the 1/2 of a half Wine & Dine weekend.) Now we are excited for another cupcake runcation for Wine & Dine 2016!

Running and life post military life for us has brought us even closer together! I am grateful to our love of Disney and runDisney because Jan has truly become one of my best friends, but I"m also grateful for all of our cupcakes for welcoming us with open arms for that first race. They are friendships we both truly treasure and value. We are constantly blessed by their support both with running, and with life. Disney and runnig when added to cupcakes, cocktails and pixie dust are truly magical!

Gretchen
disney2015.jpg

Mom to three wild & crazy boys and one equally wild & crazy husband! (The apples didn't fall far from the tree!) As a military family about to separate we are living life on the edge! ;) I'm a teacher by trade/education, however have been a SAHM since my 5 year old was born. I like to travel, and make a living doing it I guess you could say for the past three or so years. Before I met my husband my goal was to find a way to move to Ireland or the UK and live happily ever after. I have loved Disney since I grew up going to Disneyland and adding the east coast to the equation was natural when I moved to this coast. I've also visited Disneyland Paris and Tokyo Dsiney. Adding running to my Disney love was more of a stretch since I swore I would only run if zombies were chasning me, and then I hoped I had a gun, ax or something. But if anything is going to motivate me to run, Disney would be it!

Currently I have on my run calendar the Fiesta 10K at the end of April, the Harrisburg Half Marathon, the Diva DC Wine Country (another runcation with Jan) and maybe the Hershey Half, although that might be pushed due to Wine & Dine.

Favorite rides:
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (My first roller coaster as a kid!)
Soarin' (flying over my home state could never be wrong!)
Rock n Roller Coaster

Favorite Disney Drinks:
Grapefruit Beer in Germany (and I don't even like grapefuit!)
The Citron Slush in France
Lapu Lapu
A decent glass of wine anywhere

Favorite Show: Wishes, bonus points if it's holiday Wishes! (As a December baby I'm partial to the Christmas season!)

Favorite Characters: Ariel and Merida...we redheads have to stick together!

Favorite Disney race moment: Meeting Prince Eric and getting a selfie at the Princess Half Marathon this year!

Jan is a mom to two amazing teenagers. She works part time in retail. Jan is an avid scrapbooker who loves to document life's precious moments. She's kind, generous and fun! She's a Sparkle Skirt addict and is looking foward to decorating her new kitchen with Mickey! (I'll ask her if she wants to add more, but I haven't convinced her to join the disboards yet!)

Favorite Rides:
Big Thunder Mountain
Soarin'
Expedition Everest

Favorite Character: Mickey Mouse

Favorite Drinnk: Pina Colada? Jan needs to try some more drinks!

Favorite Show: Illuminations

I'll update tomorrow with some more info/pictures for Jan!
