Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

This weeks tragic events in Orlando and at Disney have stopped our family in our tracks. Suddenly all of the last minute plans we were stressing about no longer matter. I had just placed our 30 day countdown calendar on the fridge, and we can't bring ourselves to look at it. We are devastated, and heartbroken. My heart aches for the parents who lost their precious little boy, their suffering must be unimaginable.

How in the world can people pull this kind no of stuff off, and for so long?

So let's do some simple math...
If we assume she worked fulltime, 5 days/wk that (3 wks vacay), over 23 months...we'll round that to 475 shifts.
$112000/475 = $236/shift on average...which may only be 3-4 family orders but come on, someone must have noticed all the refunds.
My gut says it was not a one person operation.pirate:pirate:
Someone has to authorize those refunds and how did the food get made and issued if the receipt was refunded.

I think I would be very, very embarassed to have this level of incompetancy go public if I were Disney.

I apologize if this has been discussed already, but has anyone done both FP seating AND dining package seating and can comment is one is better than the other? It's my understanding that wherever we sit, higher seats have a better view of the water screens, correct? Thanks!

From what I am remembering yes, the higher seats are better. And I think if you sit interiorly either is better.

Re JB: Yes, I think as the dining package we were to the interior of the fast passes, but I would take a look at the handy charts that someone made of the lettered sections. Interior is better in my opinion. We were as interior and as high as possible for our seating left of center. (No one can be in center, it's a waterway.)

We were actually at the very top on the right in standing room at the wall where there is a walkway. The pictures were very clear from there. I have heard dining is better than fp, no first hand knowledge though.

Did anyone see a story about changing the jungle book show to another story. I swear a read this and can't find it. I feel like I'm having dreams about rol.

To those of you that are getting ready for your trip, I feel for you and I hope your trip is a memorable one. The shock of what happened cuts a lot of us deep because it could have happened too anyone. I pray your thoughts lighten as you take off on your magical adventure.

We are in the "World" right now and it has been a tragic week for Orlando & Disney. Even with all the events going on we have had a great week. Dining has been our only issue all week. Had a horrible experience at 'Ohana - food was good but we didn't get seated until an hour after our ADR time and then we didn't get any food until 20-30 mins after being sat down. The server was not very pleasant after we spoke to the manager - even though she said we were already on her list to talk too since we had to wait so long. Manager definitely took care of us which I did not ask for, just wanted them to know this is not what we expect from Disney. Also, some counter service locations have been very slow.

We enjoyed the JB show but I also went in knowing it was a show put together in a couple of weeks and is just a place holder. You might be disappointed if you have other expectations.

Nighttime Safari - We had a FP scheduled at 9:30pm cause we really wanted to see it in the dark. While hanging out at 8pm we were handed anytime FPs from some people leaving the park so we decided to use them for the Safari ride. It was awesome at sunset, a lot of animals out feeding and even saw the lioness roar. Went back for the 9:30pm FP and even though we saw some animals it was not as good as the earlier time.

Lordy guys - we've been relegated to page two. Hope everyone is doing ok.

Hanging in there, 27 days and counting. It feels like time stood still this past week, and we're slowly getting back on track. July park hours were finally updated today, so of course I had to cancel our PPO ADR at BOG. Still waiting on the Star Wars dessert party for our dates.

I'm still waiting too. We are going around the same time.

I've been busy this week helping a friend and bringing meals to them. She was 37 weeks and they found no heartbeat in her sonogram so she had to deliver a stillborn. It was a girl. She had 6 boys and then this girl. It was heartbreaking.
Oh, how terribly sad. My heart breaks for your friend. So nice that you can be there to help her.

I'm sorry to hear this. What a terrible loss for your friend, and her family. Such a sad, sad week. :sad1:

Oh my goodness how terrible. I can't imagine how painful that must be.

I'm still kind of in a sad mood from everything that's happened in Orlando. I knew people in Pulse who escaped, one of whom isn't dealing with it all very well. DH knew one of the CMs who was killed. It all just sucks. But I've never been prouder to live in Orlando, the community's done such a great job of coming together.
