Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

I'm feeling the need to call Maggie for some official news:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Saw the "Jungle Book" today ( amazing, btw) --- before the movie, they had the "First Look" preview, and they had a Disney spot that showed "Rumors of Light" and all of the other great nighttime activities starting in the parks
"SW Fireworks", Sunset Safari, etc---- ( "Tree of Life" all in lights looks amazing !!)

This video is awesome!!! Still curious what is summer 2016???

Question for the group- I'm going June 20-27 and my FP selection is this week. I've decided to have Fp for the afternoon since we are park hopping. Im not sure how to Fp for Epcot and animal kingdom since so many things are in the air. We are doing two Epcot evenings and I'm hoping to get soarin or FEA For those days. Should I pick things I want during the times I would place those rides? What should I do? I didn't think I'd be worried but now that the window is literally around the corner and no announcements I am starting to become more worried...

It really is a great spot !! Was awesome on the large movie screen in the theatre--- one thing that peaked my curiousity --- for MK, looks like they are showing a live rapuzel show--- my kids would go nuts !! As far as your question --- I would not FP for ak right now -- we are leaving 6/30 --- at our 4/30 FP date, I will FP the latest safari time , and if ROL is ready to role, I will try and change closer to when we leave .

I'm in the same boat as you -- basically there the same dates. Here's what I decided to do:

Epcot: I'll schedule 3 FP's for each of our Epcot days. While we really plan to do TT at rope drop on our full day at Epcot, I'll schedule FP's for it on both of the days we plan to be there because we enjoy that ride and would be fine riding it a few times. If Soarin' and FEA open and have FP's available for our dates, I'll switch the TT FP's to those rides. If not, we probably won't do rope drop on our full day -- we'll sleep in a little and just do TT with the FP. Might change the other TT FP to Mission Space.

AK: I'm just planning our day and FP's as if none of the night time attractions will be available. I just have zero confidence that they will be up and running by the end of June. I'm scheduling EE, KS, & KRR for late morning/early afternoon. We'll decide that week whether we want to sleep in that day or get there at rope drop so the kids can ride EE several times. If by some miracle, the night time things become available, I'll switch (hopefully) our EE & KS FP's to the Sunset Safari and ROL and we'll definitely do rope drop to ride EE.

I've stressed over this for weeks and while actually doing my FP reservations this week will relieve some of the stress, I will still have to keep an eye on things for at least another month or so just in case these new things open up. I've resolved to the fact that we may have to do one or two of the new headliners stand-by or just save them for the next trip.

Wonder if the live Rapunzel is part of the show that is replacing Dream Along with Mickey that just ended.

This all looks so great. Pretty bummed we will be missing it. Unless they have sneak peaks sometime next month...:tinker:here's to hoping for pixie dust

We're going the same week! I'll be there Wednesday night with DH getting the FPs booked. I was thinking to just book Dinosaur for AK, and then if RoL FP are released, to replace that one.

I'm going to do the same for Epcot: book Test Track and then hope to switch to Frozen or New Soarin' when they are announced.

Thanks everyone!!! That makes me feel a little bit better...I guess I'll stick with that plan and see what happens in the future :) I too am also scheduling Wednesday night as well!!! Good luck :)

I'm getting picked up at 3am Thursday morning to go to the airport and I haven't started packing anything yet ... :scared1:

I mean I have a few things put aside in a pile, and I've bought a lot of things I think that I'll need over the past few months, but I haven't physically started packing...

While we're waiting for anything ROL, does anyone have something unconventional that they pack and use at the World that you think others would find helpful?

I bring a small basket for personal items like tooth brush and make-up for storing on the shelf under the sink or on the closet shelf in the resort room. Keeps the clutter down, and also use it in my suitcase and it helps keep stuff from getting squashed. Otherwise, not-so-unconventional stuff is plenty of wine and snacks for the room - the room it takes in the suitcase going down is freed up for souvenirs coming home.

Edited to add: I also bring my own extra hangers for hanging clothes since there is so little drawer space...:)

I am early June and I just planned as though nothing would be open yet (FEA, Soarin, ROL) but I know what I'm changing if/when those become available.

For those who are there now, how are the bag lines? If you get there early, can you get thru them faster? I would rather not have to bring one, but I am seeing they are making you empty your pockets too.

Question for my Lounge buddies --- kinda weird, and you would think after 20 years of going to WDW I would know the answer, but kind of stumped !!

Never had this situation come up --- ok, so we are heading to Disney from 6/30-7/9 ---
Our DSs AP expires on 7/2, and we decided not to renew--- ( our plans for 2017 really up in air right now-- new jobs, kids in school -- AND we might be relocating)

So.. We are going to get him a MYW pass w hopper for the remaining (6) days ---
Question is -- are we going to need (2) Magic Bands for him ( one for the remaining AP days and one for the MYE ticket) or will one MB recognize both the AP and the MYW ?

I was going to buy the MYW ticket in Disney once the AP expires , but want to make sure we have it linked by 4/30, so I can make our FPs --

Really hope I made some sense, and that someone can clarify for me !!

TIA !!

Any bands linked to a person will access all their info, ticket entitlements, ADRs, FP, etc. They will be clones of each other.

Thanks so much !!!!!!!!! So basically, the one band will recognize that the AP is good for the first three days, and then the MYW for the remaining ? If somehow the MYW was used first, we would be short 3 days-- that was my concern. Thanks again !!!

Ok here's the tip on that. Re-assign the MYW ticket to a phantom for when you want the AP to be used. Then, re-assign the ticket back to your DS when you are ready for it to be used. I'm fairly certain I'm explaining this correctly but I'm going to tag @hiroMYhero to correct me if I'm wrong here.
