Sons of Gadsen you gotta be my favorite person to discuss ideas with for your not the typical Disney die hard that thinks anything said badly about Dsiney is a sin.I appreciate your open mind and thoughts. Now onto our discussion.I think Hollywood studios was badly thought out even from the start because Disney was to worried about opening it before Universal Studios and now they are paying for it.(my opinion).I would rather Disney make HS into a park with Toy Story,Monsters Inc,Star Wars,CarsLand, and redo Indiana Jones Like in California.Maybe bring Pirates of the Carribean to life there aswell.LOTR I still think needs to be at Universal for it just fits better.I mean in honesty I think Disney and Universal needs to work together in some packaging and pricing deal that monopolizes not only central florida but the theme park industry in whole. They combine there tickets and work together to a point and you still get your regulars but add those that might not have interest in the other.Disney has gotta do something quickly I think about its pricing and single out only those that stay on property gets the real magic(Walt would roll over in his grave on this).Disney use to be open for all to enjoy and share the same experience, but now you only will get that if you stay on property or shell out tremendous amounts of money.Disney relies on Passholders to support there parks (which my family is) and right now we get nothing for our dedication of visiting and spending money all year long(not fair in my opinion).Again these are my opinion and thoughts.
You'll have to forgive me. For some reason this post totally slipped by me and I totally forgot about out conversation. I love having debates about just about any subject when I can find someone, like yourself, that doesn't get hot headed about it. So many people on the internet/forums are so obsessed with being right or wrong, it's often hard to have a decent debate with anyone anymore. It's about the conversation and learning a few things you hadn't thought of! Haha.
All very good points, though. And, to be honest, I totally agree about LotR. I'm not a LotR fan, I saw part of the first movie...didn't like it. Couldn't get through the rest of it. The whole medieval, magical elven thing just is not my thing at all. But, personally, I see it as more of Universal's thing. I don't know why. When I picture that sort of thing, Universal just comes to mind.
You also have to pin DHS on MGM as well. I'm not sure how much who had to do with what, but the park was a collaboration of MGM and Disney. And now that MGM has no hand in it...well, it just wreaks of a terrible situation to me. I don't disagree with your idea for redoing the park with those franchises. Though, I would say Monsters and Toy Story should probably be merged as a Pixarland, and I believe Carsland has been shot down. DHS just needs to pick some franchises and go for it. I always feel like Disney is just better at what they do than Universal. I go to Universal and just get kind of creeped out by the themeing. It all just seems...odd...where as Disney's just looks so real. I feel like they really NEED a new studio to move in, though. And WB seems like an excellent choice. It would be a way for WB to get in on the theme park market, and would help Disney fight back in the Studio Theme Park genre.
I just don't see Universal and Disney ever working together. A LOT of bad blood between the two....all the way back to Walt's history working for them and screwing him for Oswald.
