Just read a Trip Advisor Report on RP saying Excellent Customer Service but there were Dogs Everywhere?

Strange, just thought there were a couple of dogs at a time at each of the Univ Hotels..

In particular, I was told at RP, the dogs were confined to one particular tower, I believe Tower 2

Also, I was told that there were strict regulations for dogs...not allowed by the pools at any of the Hotels..

Surprised that the guest said dogs everywhere????????????

trip advisor is the last source to get your information.

usually it is not valid and misleading. you will get better guidance from the dis.

what some people hate, others love.

one thing that was correct in your post, dogs are not allowed in the pool areas at any of the hotels.

they are restricted to specific areas set up by the hotel.

::yes:: And they are very strict on there policy..

I've never seen a dog there. We were even in Tower 2, I think, at RPR. I know we had a view of the dog walking area, but I never saw a dog there either.

I find that so many people post to tripadvisor with agendas that it becomes almost an art form to determine what a hotel is actually like. It gets even worse when you start to look at properties in other countries such as those in the Caribbean.

In all honesty, I post on Trip Advisor and have never been unfair or had an agenda. I bet I have written at least 6 reviews and only one have I been really tough on. That hotel deserved it, trust me. If I'm lucky enough to go to the PBH this fall, I'll be writing one on that as well. I'm just learning how to post pictures online and the travelers photos are some of best part of reading a TA review, IMO, of course.;)

Hi I have stayed at at least 6 hotels chosen by tripadvisor. I have found that the reviews are generally accurate. If a place only has a few reviews then possibly something could be bias, But when a place has 50 or even hundreds of reviews the general consensus shows very close to what you can expect out of that hotel.

Not all trip advisor reports are exaggerated.

Do you have a link of the trip review you are referring to?

Is it specific, or does it have a general line "there were dogs everywhere" ?

I have never seen a dog around the pool. I have seen a dog on the club floor of the HRH. The owner apologized (saw her in the elevator). The dog had received complaints while the owner was out, and they moved owner and her to a new room as that was the only room available at the time. Never heard a peep from the dog. Never saw the dog in the lounge.

I did see a dog at the RP pool in the summer of 2004. It was about 9 p.m., dark, and "Dad" brought little frou frou dog over to the zero entry area to pad about while he had a chat with his family who were in the pool. It lasted about 10 mins while frou frou sniffed around and had a drink from the pool while DAD talked with the fam. I was apalled. However, I chalked it to SOME PEOPLE ARE IDIOTS who don't think the rules apply to them. 10 minutes was not a lot of time, the dog was little, it was dark, and I didn't feel like being a tattle tale on my vaction so they were not hassled.

In 2005, we were entering our room in the PBH east wing with the bellman when Fido went ape across the hall. I told the bellman not to unpack while I called the front desk from within the room. I told the front desk the problem, whick the front desk expediately rectified because she heard the barking over the phone - no lie. I was staying on a super cheap APH rate and was upgraded to a dead center pool view in the west wing - THANKS FIDO!

Prior to 2005, we did the HRH, 2003 I believe (getting old) and we encountered poo on the sidewalk, barking while in our room, and I was growled at on the 5th floor. No kidding.

We did HRH 11/2007 and had none of the previous HRH problems.

Hence, when I make a res I always request a no dog floor and if there are problems that REALLY bother me (barking), I notify the management.

P.S. I'm not an animal hater - I luv my little buddy. However, I know he'd go crazy in a hotel room so he stays at Grampas.

To clarify, I wasn't saying all that post but there are so many that post with agendas that you have to be very careful.

I agree. If you read the reports on the Universal hotels, you wonder if some of those people actually stayed there or just are trying to keep people away from Universal.

When we stayd at Portofino Bay in October '05 a man brought the largest Great Dane I have ever seen to the grotto pool and the lifeguard brought it a bucket of water to drink. Our dog stayed in the room, expecially after seeing the one that could have made an appetizer out of Scruffy!

Likewise, you could suppose that some people who give nothing but glowing reviews have an agenda (promised upgrades, etc) or perhaps are employees ...

This is especially true when you look at some reviews for Caribbean and Mexican hotels. The worst negatives being posted by employees of the competition or former employees.

So how does one know that the previous guests of our room did or did not have a pet. I'm a little confused. Are pets allowed in every resort? Or are they only at certain floors or buildings?

My husband is allergic to cats and dogs and would not want to be in a room that had pets in them. So does anyone have any suggestions on how I can make sure we don't have that problem. I would really appreciate it.:)

Excellent question....

All pets are confined (or are supposed to be) to a certain wing, tower, floor, etc., probably certain rooms of the hotel.

Just note on your reservation that you have allergies and do not want a pet room.

Each pet owner pays a fee for their animal when they stay so it should be very easy for the hotel to tell which rooms were previously occupied by a four-legged friend. Confirm you do not have a pet room at check-in.

But is there a way to guarantee this?

In terms of allergies, even if the room they have given us was suppose to be "pet -free", I don't think it would make a difference if they use the same cleaning equipment. For instance, the vacuum from one room can transfer any dust/pet dander into another.

I'm just really surprised that they allow pets in all resorts. I understand that they may keep them at a certain floor, but it is possible that a pet owner may visit someone on another floor with pet in tow.

I understand if they are all only allowed in one building. But it doesn't seem to be the case.:confused3
