I know that a room request is just that and there are no guarantees but how often are they filled??? I put in two request for our upcoming Nov 14-21st trip to the WDTC. They are the Buzz Lightyear wing (for my nephew who is a Buzz nut) and to have two of our three rooms connecting and one adjoining.

Do all of you think one or both of my requests will be met? I am also going to send a fax four days before our trip requesting the same thing.

So I need some opinions here gang! Everyone on these boards are so helpful!! So thanks in advance all who respond!!!

Other than non-smoking requests, we are probably under 50% success rate on others; and we've tried all avenues...good luck:smooth:

I think JCTwizzer is pretty close to accurate. I also believe it depends on capacity of the resort and luck. I was at the A/S Movies in September and they were at 30% capacity. This is what I faxed in that I would like:

Guarantee non-smoking rooms for medical reasons (on my confirmation request)
Connecting rooms (since our grandson was in one room)
Mighty Duck section
Possible King bed in one of the 2 rooms.

This is what I got:

2 non-smoking rooms.

In the Dalmatian section, not connecting, with 2 double beds in each.

Other than my first request that is it. I faxed my request 4 days earlier and had Mighty Duck request on my original confirmation. So I think it's luck and timing and that is it.

I've made 4 requests in the past...

The first 2 were for All Star Music and Movies - both times my requests were for a 1st floor room with king bed close to the main building (hyerniated disk). Both times we got those exact requests.

After leaving the All Star Music, we checked into WL. I had requested possible wood upgrade on the side where the boats were (hyerniated disk) and king bed. But when we checked in, the computers were all down and they had noted our standard room and stuck us into whatever room was standard was open which overlooked the delivery doors on the OTHER wing with 2 double beds. It was our 5th anniversary and for us, a double bed doesn't quite fit us both so I made him sleep in the other bed....bummer huh?!? LoL

And our last request was 2 weeks ago today at AKL. I had requested a possible savannah room upgrade from our standard room. And requested close to main lobby. We got the Kudu trail savannah room 2 doors in from the lobby main floor. Very nice!

So we are running 3-4 requests and I do think that if the computers had been up at WL that we would have gotten a better room. The hotel was empty and it was our anniversary and a king bed I'm thinking they woulda done for us. They even took our anniversary info down at check in (it was in our original resservation to) but it was a kick in the rear that after all that extra noting and writing down, they never even acknologed our anniversary.

In fact, we've noted many birthdays and anniversaries over the years (probably 8 or 9, we usually take bdays and anniversaries as chances to go) and only ONE time has anything ever happened. We don't go expecting anything but when you read about all the magical and nice things hotels do for others, makes ya wonder if they don't bother when you are a Fl resident or something.

Did you make your request on your intial reservation or fax it a few days prior to arrival? Are my chance any better if we do both????

I currently have ressies for 3-21 - 3-26 at the Dolphin for a traditional non smoking room with limited resort view. I am a SPG member but have 0 points. What would a "reasonable" upgrade request be? What do I say & how do I make this request?

I personally never make room requests. I tried it once, and was very disapointed and learned not to bother ever again. Three years ago, I stayed at Dixie Landings (now Riverside) and requested Alligator Bayou section on my reservation, since I already stayed at the Mansions on a previous trip and wanted something new. When I checked in, I politely requested again Alligator Bayou, but the CM wouldn't even try. She said AB is only for larger groups, and our group was not 5 people. So mansions was it. :(

After that, I never made a room request again. I don't want to be disapointed or have unreal expectations. Now I always expect only what I pay for. :)

I have made room requests on all of my stays. Of my 16 stays in Disney resorts only one time did I not get any of my requests and we ended up in an awesome room anyway. On two other times only part of my requests came through. The other times they got them all. Disney CM's do an incredible job with the room assignments. It must be a very interesting puzze to figure out on a daily basis.

Of the 6 WDW resort stays in the last 2 years where we made requests, we got all our requests each time except at WL. We got most of our requests there except we wanted our woodsview room(paid for that) to be on the MK side, not WLV side. But we got the bunks, no-smoking and quiet area we asked for. ;) Hope we do well at AKL next month. :D
I have it noted when I make the reservation and also fax it in.

I got Alligator Bayou for a party of 3 last year...I requested it b/c we had stayed in the mansion b/4 too...that's a lame excuse they gave you! Anyway...I've been pretty successful w/ requests. Last year at WL they tried to give us bunk beds when we requested 2 queens...apparently a nicer view but we couldn't do it b/c DD has to sleep w/ me on vacation! lol (joy!). I told them at check in I had to have 2 queens and we did have to wait a bit longer but we got it. I've even been accomadated on some odd requests too... At AKL I asked to be near a watering, read it somewhere online. The CM commented on it and asked if I had read that online...but I got the view of the watering hole, animals all around. Sometimes if you are willing to wait they will try to get you what you want even if it is not what you are orginally assigned.....

I have made a few requests, and even had the CM SUGGEST some requests...("would you like to try for ground floor? close to food court?") and have always gotten nonsmoking, at CBR requested Martinique 25 (got it), AKL "nice view", booked standard and got pool view. I don't expect to get what I request but feel it doesn't hurt to ask, and am always pleasantly surprised and appreciative of what I get. I only "expect" to get what I paid for.

We have done pretty well with non-DVC requests. Every time we stayed at the Poly concierge we go the floor we asked for. At the Dolphin we even got an upgrade. I have asked for a MK view for our Contemporary tower 12/30-1/2 so we'll see how we do with that one.
As for DVC requests we do OK--the first time at BWV I asked for close to the elevators and it wasn't--but the second time I asked again, mentioning my dad was in an ECV, and we got the first room off of the elevators, 3rd floor!
At VWL I asked for a water/pool view this last time and got just what I got the first time--the last room at the end of the hall over the dumpster, only on a lower floor. Oh well. At least we were in Disney! DVC, though, has its own system for room requests.

Diligence or luck? On our visit to POR 10/99 we asked for a non-smoking, river view, 2nd floor, king bed in Magnolia Terrace. We had our TA call 3x and called once ourselves. At check-in we were told we had everything except the bldg. It was bldg 38(room3853) in Alligator Bayou. It was not a disappointment.:D
Good luck with your requests.

AKL spring 2004:)

We usually don't make any room request ahead of time but do ask for certain buildings when we get there. We typically stay at GF. One time we were put in a horrible room - located behind the quiet pool's bar - it was bad. I called the front desk and they immediately moved us to an room overlooking the harbor (?). That method seems to work for us. I've never tried anything else.
Good luck!princess:

I would not fax.

Everything I have read on Internet Forums and been told by those that work at Disney is the faxes are not going to be considered for requests anymore. They just got to be too overwhelming.

They will accept requests made to the reservations by CRO. So call them and add your requests to your reservation.

We have been successful three out three times.

I have my requests on my ressie, however they made it sound like only the "smoking" room request would be "guaranteed"... I'm not picky, it's just that we have 3 generations staying in a BC standard room, so the day bed is really necessary... also we have a new problem... the smoker in our group - just gave up smoking... think I can change the request?

I kinda hate to say this because I'm sure I'm due to get a room I don't want but - I'm at 100% on my requests, you can see our list of trips below. I've put the most important requests (non smoking for medical reasons) on the ressie and faxed about 3 days out with what I want. I think one thing that helps though is to - prioritize your requests for the assigner - they have no other idea of what is MOST important to you. Non-smoking most important for us, then I'll request a certain location and usuallly an upper floor. Only received an upgrade once but have gotten all requests. I think the more general you can get the better. When we stayed at the All Stars I wanted to be in the Toy Story section, if possible looking at Andy's Room (instead of specific building), and made an upper floor the lowest priority. We got a room on the second floor, facing Andy's room, just a couple doors down from the big Woody - it was great. Most recent trip I requested an upper level room near the otter pond at WL, got a room between the pond and the lake on the 5th floor and it was also wonderful.

Good luck - hope you get what you want.

Thanks everyone for your advice and encouragement. :teeth: It is one month today and we are off to the most magical place on earth!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone know what rooms would be facing the big Buzz and Andy's room?? I did put a request thru WDTC and I will fax just to be on the safe side!

Again thanks!

30 MORE DAYS!!!!!!!!!:hyper: :hyper: ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo
