400 posts! We may be small, but we are mighty!

Micky02 Hey, what's your name, anyway! We all want some details, you know.
I'll try and re-send that PM. Sandy must be doing some serious camping as I haven't heard back from her in a while. But I think a party is a great way to milk some extra fun out of this adventure. 7 days is just too short. (I know, Denine has the answer to that one) This is where a video conference call would be good. Everyone on the thread could have the virtual pre-cruise party

My name is Barb I live in Colorado Springs with my Husband Bob.
This is our first ever cruise and I am soooo excited! My Sister Patty and her husband Ken are also going they live in New Mexico along with our 5 kids and my Mom. Bet that is more then you ever wanted to know about me!!

Ok. NOw you have my competitive spirit going. I noticed that the Oct. 12 Magic cruisers have 501 posts so I think we have some serious cathing up to do! There only seems to be 3 of us holding the fort here.
I tried to get Dudette # 2 to register but she emailed me and said she couldn't figure out how to get into the forum. I am emailing her directions.

Regarding steamers-I may look into purchasing one since 2 of us have gowns that are not very crushable. NOt sure about # 3 but she is more practical than #'s 1 & 2.

Throwing things in the suitcase at least once a day. It keeps me going! I'm gald we aren't the only ones getting excited!:teeth:

Bonnie: I am part of the 10-12 cruisers as well. 2 weeks on the Magic is going to be pure bliss!!!!!!!

Wine party: Sunday at 2 PM. We are all bringing a bottle of wine from home to share. The party will be on deck 7, aft (secret deck). The alternate place is our cabin, 6011. We are all going to order something from room service to bring with us to munch with our wine. We also need to bring glasses and a corkscrew. It is an informal, fun gathering.

I have no idea about steamers in the laundry. I have never used the laundry. I can attest to the dry cleaning services on the ship. I spilled something on my gown last year and they did a beautiful job of cleaning and pressing the dress. I figured, if Disney doesn't know how to dryclean (with all those costumes), no one does!!!!!

WOW Denine!! 2 cruise back to back you are one lucky girl!!

I am already working on another cruise in Spring of 2004 because I think it will help with the depression I am going to go through once this cruise is over!! I would go to Disney several times a year if I could. As a matter of fact I have tried to talk my husband into moving to Florida! No luck he is stuck on Colorado.

Hi guys, have been camping and missing the board. Ran home quick like today so I got my fix. Welcome Mickey02. I camp at Colorado Heights in Monument. Will be in the Springs tomorrow. Too bad I don't have a way to contact you! The irons are HORRIBLE in the laundry rooms. All crusty etc. Will NEVER use them again. We steam in the bathroom and it works great. Might do the dry cleaning pressing as they say it isn't very expensive. How do you pack a long gown? Love the idea for the lanyards, Lori. So glad I gave them to your kids. Won't give away any secrets to them. I will get serious on this thread again next week. Maybe, the week after. It has really been hectic for me. Talk to you all soon. Have a great and safe holiday. Sandy

Barb: I am lucky to be able to do back-to-back cruises. We are DVC members so the 10-12 is with points and the 10-19 with cash. It is actually our 1st cash DCL cruise. We got a great deal last October when we booked on board. We also travel in the cheaper category 11 staterooms. I love a balcony, but since the cabins are larger than other lines' inside cabins, an inside is just fine.

Thanks for the tip on the iron situation. I guess we will stick with sending it out right away on Saturday to be ready for Sunday. Other dresses will pack well.

Does somebody's children collect pins? If so I will bring my collection. I am not a fanatic like others just buy the ones I like and I am perfectly willing to trade with any children. Adults get a little nuts with the pins so I avoid them when trading.

Dudette #2 (Jeanne) tried to register and something happened so now she has given away the name without being registered. She does read the boards now so when I say she is computer illiterate she sees it! Of course she will be the first to admit.

2 cruises back to back! What will it be like to be on land after that? Wow! I think I will talk up booking the next one on board if we plan another to get the shipboard credit.

We have a cabin with a navigator's balcony. I will check with the other Dudettes to see if needed we could use our cabin.
I'm getting as chatty as the rest of you! Oh Oh!
Have a good holiday weekend all. May go to Atlantic City for a day to see my son's band play at one of the casino's decks. Otherwise laying low. :p

OK, Barb, I have sent you a nice long PM. Don't lose it this time !:smooth:
Oh, and Bonnie, I found the notes on the pressing service. It's $7 bucks, and send it off right after the boat drill.

HI EVERYBODY.

Good Morning everyone!!

I look forward to opening up this tread every morning when I get into work! I did get the email Lori. thanks!! I was not aware I had a private email place. COOL!! I am really looking forward to going to Denver meeting the other Colorado cruisers!

I started buying 2 of my girls pins last year when I heard it was such a big deal on the cruise. We are still pretty new to the whole pin trading thing but I think they will like it. On Saturday mornings I would stand in line outside the Disney store at the mall for an hour before they opened to get those darn pins. I use to question my sanity! But I want them to have as much fun as possible on this cruise.

When we do meet for dinner is anyone bringing their kids? Jaymee is 17 and Tiffany is 14. My son is in the Air Force and lives in Ga and my oldest daughter works a lot so it would probably just be the 2 girls. Also I will see if my Mom wants to come.

We leave in 41 days!! Wooo Hoooo

Barb

Hello all!
Bonnie: I don't want to think about coming back from our cruises yet!

Hope you all have a good weekend!

Hi guys. I did a comparison study on two brands of wrinkle releaser spray, and thought I'd share the results with you, in case you were interested. I got the Magic and Downey brands (both on sale at King Soopers/Kroger) and did a side by side trial of each on a pair of cotton Khaki pants. The leg I sprayed with the Downey spray bottle were much wetter, so they took longer to dry and you have to be smoothing them out all along, or have laid them out flat just right. The Magic came in an aerosol can and went on more evenly and dried quicker. The only problem with the can is, I don't think they are allowed in carry-ons, so it would need to be packed with checked luggage, right? Another thing I'll need to keep in mind, is the scent that each have, is really noticeable so a whole outfit sprayed with either product would certainly add up. Forget perfume, this will overpower it. The Downey Wrinkle Releaser "Light Freshness" scent, left one pant leg smelling light a large khaki dryer sheet, and the Magic Wrinkle Remover "Morning Fresh Scent" was a bit flowery. I don't really like perfumes, etc., so I choose the most minimum sounding scents. Overall, I liked the Magic best (funny, we're GOING on the Magic:p ) but will try to 'hot-shower steam' my clothes in advance of touching up with the spray.

Barb, I don't think I'd want to see my kids trade away pins that had that much effort invested in getting them! I looked at pins at the Disney Store and they were all $6.-$10. each. I'll let you in on something, since your a buddy;) . Don't let them trade with the cheap pins I bought for my kids, you'll get ripped off!:p I bought them on-line thruCheapPins Just look at the "Tradeable Disney pins" and there are some for $3-$4. and shipping is cheap. I mostly wanted my kids to trade with the CM's for that exclusive pin that you can only get by trading with a CM on the ship.
Oh, shoot! I just saw that they have a 'Pin trading cruise' slider pin offered (one per customer) and now I want that too! Well, here I go again. Hey, as long as I'm paying for shipping, does anyone want me to get them a couple of cheapies for trading? Shipping is the same cost regardless.
Tell me soon, I want to get this cruise pin before they are gone.

Barb, I'm sure my Katie (9 going on 29) would love to come to our dinner party, I'll see if Cody would rather stay with friends. I'll start looking into a good place for the party and let you and Sandy know.

Great! I am really looking forward to meeting everyone!

I was following a thread of another cruise for last may. The people on the thread made plans to meet once on the ship but never set any times. Once they got back they wrote they have never even met. I thought it was sad. They had gotten so close on the message board then they never met.

But this will be different!

Barb --
My DD9 (Kristen) does some pin trading, and I am sure that she
will be bringing them on the trip.

Question: For the formal night, are all of you wearing ball gowns?? We did the land/sea last year (which does not have a formal night, but on the other nights when we were on people were dressed SO CASUAL, that I thought that we were overdressed. I had planned on one of my dressier dresses for formal night (but its no ball gown) Should I start shopping?? I just don't want to be the only one in a regular dress if you guys are all duded up!! Also, is the early dinner seating really early now??

--- Laurie

Well guys, I went ahead and ordered more pins. Even a $6. one and a $10. one! ME of all people! I got two extra cheapies if someone was going to take me up on the offer, otherwise, I'm sure my kids will take those too;).

Laurie, I'll be decked out in a greenish/blue long gown with blue beads all over it. (If I stop pigging out so much). Unless of course Sandy gives in and gives me hers.;) I'm sure I'll wear regular dresses to the other nights. DH will be in a suit for formal/semi-formal, and 'resort casual' the other nights.

As for not meeting up on the ship... I think that we should use Denine's list and the whole crowd of us show up drunk at anyone's door that doesn't make it to the wine party, and move the party into their cabin. How's that for incentive?

Formal & semi-formal nights: DH and I will be dressed to the nines, him in his tux and me in my gowns. I have one that is a burgandy strapless number with a small bustle and small train. This is for formal night. The other one is champagne colored and shiny. I will wear this for semi-formal (if I am going to dress semi-formal, I may as well go all the way!). It is so fun to dress up. It beats the scrubs I wear to work (even if they are Disney scrubs). I have a short black velvet dress I am going to wear to Palos. Again, DH will wear his tux. We bought it and he is going to get his money's worth. I am wearing the same ensemble the following week. I didn't feel like bringing 4 gowns. ( I paid $20 for the champagne gown and $40 for one that I am not bringing, so I am not rich.)

Knocking on people's doors that don't come to the wine party could be fun. So, if you don't want to be bombarded with guests, you had better come if you sent me your info ;)

Pins? Did somebody say pins? I love pins. I didn't trade at first. Now I do since I had gotten a bunch of 99cent pins at the DS.

I can just imagine the lot of us showing up at some poor soul's door, banging, drunk at 3:00 PM! Oops, guess we have the wrong cabin...;) :) ;) .

Gowns, Hmmmmmm. Never really worn a gown, except to get married. I love to dress up but gowns are not my thing. I have two black dresses, floor ankle lengths. One with a few sparkly sequins and flowers the other straight and black. Will dude these up a bit for formal night and I love to wear cruise-wear/resort-wear the other nights. I am a bright color person, so cruises are great for my "collection".

Clare on the other hand, has 2 formals and will be princessing out both nights!:p

David will be in a coat, and possibly a tie, if I can persuade him. No tux.Quote "I am on VACATION!" but I promise I will make him look presentable.

Never done the pin thing, but might get a few for Clare. At 3, I know she would get a kick out of "trading" with someone older, and it might help her break in to the kid's club.

Bribing with Disney Dollars these days. One for a nap, and one for each night she sleeps in her own bed. I know, I know, I am a child development specialist, and know not to bribe, but IT IS WORKING!!

Have a great and safe weekend. Talk with you all on Monday.

PS Whew...
I just saw that dining times have been changed AGAIN to 5:45 and 8:00. Hmmmm, what to do, what to do.
Krista

13 Going from our family. Gramps & Granny, 3 moms, two dads, and 6 grandkids from Indiana, Oklahoma & Texas. We can't wait!

Yea! We have another or should I say a bakers dozen. Welcome NSMGuy. Sailaway get together 5PM on Deck 10. 2PM on Sunday for the wine party on the secret veranda on deck 7 (behind some door). BYOW, bring food from room service.
DId I get it right? I forget if the sailaway is back or front (I can't figure out which is aft and which is the other so just look for 3 middle aged women with red "Disney Dudettes" T shirts and call us over.

Gowns: I have one periwinkle satin polyester looks 2 piece, with little belt and rhinestone buckle. THis will be the one to wrinkle. I think I will stick with sending it to get steamed. I would be afraid the sprays may spot it.
#2 is a full length biased cut diagonal navy blue with white stripe, one shoulder-semi-formal night.
The third is shin length in the front, ankle in back, anothe bias cut, with little sequins on the top-spag straps- for Palo's. My WOW dress.

I can't wait to dress up!:jester:

Pins: I will bring my pins to trade with the kids. I have some very good ones that I may have a spare to trade away. Some I can't part with but I would tell them ahead of time. Many times I have been known to give away a pin or 2 so we'll see. I didn't know there were crew only pins for trade. I'll have to check that out. :smooth:

Kristaia: I think the black dresses will be fine! I would have liked a black but the others were so cheap $25 each at the Lord & Taylor sale so I couldn't be complain.

Denine: Scrubs? a nurse possibly?

Dinner Times: I was going to change from early to late (3 women getting ready for 5:30? NOT!) I ws told to wait and see what happens with the times.
