Rides that should be retired....

I was just wondering what rides everyone thought should be done away with or, to put it nicer, retired. :)

I'm just curious to hear peoples thoughts. Of course this is only personal opinion so no need to flame anyone else if your fav ride shows up on someone else's hit list. ;)

Personally I think The Great Movie Ride could stand to be replaced and I didn't think Stitch's Great Escape was anything special. Neither are terrible, but both spots could house something better I think.

I'd love to see a Little Mermaid ride. Think Winnie the Pooh style but with Ariel and all the other characters. Lots of special water effects and bubbles. Fun music playing, etc. My 5 yr old twin girls would have me in that line over and over and over...... :goodvibes

So what do you think has done it's time and is ready to be let go?

At Magic Kingdom, I would get rid of Stitch. But then, I never liked Alien Encounter, or its predecessor, Mission to (Mars or the Moon, can't remember). Maybe that space is cursed.

At MGM, I would trade the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular for the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland in a heartbeat.

This is a difficult thread because for every ride one person would like to see gone, that same ride is someone else's favorite.
As an example, I love the Great Movie Ride and we go on it every time we're at MGM.
On the other hand, I saw the Tiki birds once and never care to see it again. However, I know many people love the Tiki Birds.

Having said that, it will be interesting to see which rides people would like to see replaced.

Mine is an attraction not a ride. I think they need to do away with Drew Carey's Sounds Dangerous.

Top of the list has to be that boat ride in Mexico at Epcot. That thing is dated big-time.

Pretty campy overflow attraction when Buzz and SpaceMtn aren't handling the queues.

Somehow, I remember this from the NYCity World's Fair (I was 5 or 6!) when it was new . . .

Seems like every 5 years they update the last 5 minutes of the show to:
1) add color televisions
2) cordless phones
3) home computers
4) cell phones.

We watch it and kind of chuckle at the inconsistencies, lack of maintenance and the bad Jean Shephard (rest his wonderful soul) vocal imitation.

Good A/C when it's hot!

OK, I was going to contribute, but as I looked at lists of the attractions, I found it hard to even pick one that I can't live without!! They each have their own little charms about em. But if I had to pick, it would have to be Primeval Whirl beacuse of all the bruises I got from it last time!! :teeth:

Ditto! Sounds Dangerous came to my mind after reading the title of this thread.

Sounds Dangerous & Stitch, for sure!
I also think that the ride in Mexico is a hilariously low budget travel brouchure from about 1972.

It's A Small World at MK
Lucille A Tribute at US
Muppet 3D and Great Movie Ride at MGM

Ahhhh, I love the Muppets, maybe it just needs updating and what would Disney be without Small World, so annoying it's funny!

This is the only one I can think of.
Honestly, I wouldn't waste my time on this attraction again if it were located outside the gates and was free.
Put on headphones and sit in the dark??? What were the Imagineers thinking?

Definitely It's A Small World.........it may be a small world we live in but it would be a better world without this repetitive annoying ride..............

IMO of course............

I don't understand your meaning.

"bad Jean Shephard... vocal imitation"

"Imitation" of what (or whom)?

Can you be more specific?

This is an interesting thread as we all have different likes & dislikes. Some rides are just so sentimental for a lot of us that we couldn't go without them.

I love to go on Carosel of Progress at least once when I'm at WDW. I wouldn't say that it is my favorite, but I do like that song.

Think of how many little girls would be disappointed without Small World. I remember loving that ride when I was little, and my 3 year old neice loves it now.

I could do without Stitch--I liked the Alien attraction better (and that isn't saying much).

I haven't been to Disney in 10 years but I remember doing the headphones in the dark thing. It must have been called something different back then. But I thought it was pretty cool. I remember it sounding like you were getting a haircut and it at least 'sounded' pretty real.

What were the Imagineers thinking? I think the answer is in the question - Imagineers

Hmm....I think they can do without Sounds Dangerous. It's completly idiotic and i hate it. Stitch is ok and small world is a good ride for a nap during christmas when I'm really tired at night. :)

Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse. They could do much more with that space.

I also think there are a few attractions that could use a little makeover:

Tom Sawyer Island. Needs work, updated additions.

I love the Country Bear Jamboree, but some of the music needs updating. I loved the Christmans version - they should change some of the songs, but otherwise keep it the same.

I think the HM could use a seasonal variation - and there is one scene in the middle where ugly guys pop up and scream at you. It's not scary, just kind of dumb looking. The rest of the HM still looks amazing, but this one scene is just aweful, IMHO. It doesn't really go with the rest of the HM. Also, the bride at the end is a little cheesey. The one in Paris has a bride too, but it ties into the rest of the ride. This one just seems like an afterthought. I LOVE most of the other scenes.

They could also do seasonaly variations on IASM. I think that would be fun.

I agree that Mexico needs some major rehab. The video scenes make me laugh a little. Other parts are fine, but the segment with the aqua/cave bar needs work.

Bring back the original Imagination/Figment ride! I like the idea of the senses, but the new ride has parts that are annoying. I like Eric Idle, but the make up they put on him isn't particularly flattering.

1..Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular (how many stunt shows do we need?)

2. The Swiss Family Robinson Tree House (was boring when I was 5, and it still is)

3. El Rio Del Tiempo (don't lose, just make it better)
