Rides that should be retired....

This is a hard one. I read all the previous posts, so here goes:
1) I don't want Muppets 3D gone, but Philharmagic makes it look dated. It could be revamped with the new technology.
2) I can do without Mission Space, but understand why people want it.
3) As much as I love the little blue alien, the Stitch ride could be replaced with the Monsters Inc ride they have in CA.
4) I would like to see the other countries besides Norway and Mexico put rides in
5) The whole area formally known as Ariel's Grotto (now converted to a Pooh Playground) is a waste of space.
6) I think that Inoventions at EPCOT could use a makeover. Seems there could be more done with all the space there.
7)Bring back the original Figment ride!

Other than that, I think we can use a few more rides for everyone and maintain the wonderful attractions that are the reason we keep coming back (and we do). :earseek:

Wow, this is a great post! It really opens the flood gates, everyone has things to say on this. I have read everyone's completely and here is my 2 cents...

Rides That Can Go Away Completely
Sounds Dangerous
Pooh's Playland/Arial's Ghrotto - WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?!
Stitch's Great Escape - at least go back to Alien Encounter
Timekeeper

Rides That Need Updating But Should Stay
Buzz Lightyear's Spaceranger Spin - The Toy Story movies are SO GOOD, they could do SO MUCH MORE with a dark ride than that.
Figment - Bring back the original!!
El Rio Del Tiempo - We Love this ride, but the 70's movie clips need updating
Tiki Birds - They NEED to bring back the old songs and reduce Iago's yelling
Great Movie Ride - Another one of our favorites, just needs an update at the end where they show movie clips...everything else is so Disney quality.
Indiana Jones - I would also take the ride from Disneyland in place of show, but I still like the show alot
Star Tours - I just think the ride mechanics need updating
Tom Sawyers Island - I never want this to be gone, but it needs more over there to draw people to it.
Country Bears - The only thing it needs is better audio quality

Sticking Up For Some That Others Are Attacking
It's a Small World - Don't Even Think of It!
Carousel of Progress - Don't Even Think of It!
Great Movie Ride - This is one of the great Animatronic, Grand-Scale rides, that Disney doesn't do anymore.
Muppets 3D - This was Jim Henson's last piece of work before he died and it is still super funny and entertaining...don't get rid of it!

Well there you have it, for those of you who actually read everthing I had to say, thanks for your attention.

wow hauntedmansion79, you must have out alot of thought into your post. It was well said too. i also think they should take out hall of presidents. its really bad... wait... did I say that already? If not then I'm saying it now and if I did, then oh well, I'm saying it again. haha

Honey I Shrunk the Audience
the last 2 times we saw it, it was blurry, even with the glasses

I LOVE the great movie ride! And I really like the muppets, too. But those country bears-UGHHH. Even at christmas they are BORING!!!

If Ariel's Grotto/Pooh playground and Tomorrowland Speedway took a hike, there would be some prime real estate for redevelopment!!! Never been on Stitch but I would ax him too. I love the little guy, but when my MOTHER complains about a ride, I know it has to be bad!! Update, UPDATE, UPDATE!!!!

I would want them to put the old Maelstrom ride back. It was fun to ride. The new one is just "eh"

I too would like to see Stitch gone and Alien Encounter brought back.

Take away the Hall of Presidents?!?!? It a Disney legend.

We usually go to DW in July. Sounds Dangerous is a perfect 60 degrees. Great place to sit, cool off and close your eyes.

Great Movie Ride reminds me of what movies are suppose to be, not what they've become.

And just to throw in my two cents, I've never thought Haunted Mansion was a must see.

Top of the list has to be that boat ride in Mexico at Epcot. That thing is dated big-time.

I have to agree. Is there anything more boring than that boat ride in Mexico? We do it every time we go (most recently last week) and then we laugh about how dull it is. That one has to go.

Also, I didn't care for Stitch at all.

There are more, but I can't think of them at the moment.

Well, this has been some interesting reading. :goodvibes
I'm glad everyone is playing nice and not attacking anyone else for voicing their personal opinion.
Actually alot of people have the same ideas. Hello? Disney execs? Are you paying attention? :teeth: ;)
BTW, I think it's hilarious that some of you are wanting to keep certain rides/attractions for the simple fact that they are a great place to cool off and get a little shut-eye!! :rotfl: I'm not sure if I'd call that a glowing endorsement but it's funny! :rotfl2:

For me it is some of the kiddie type rides.....Astro Orbitor has got to go, the tea cups. A little on the daring side I would have to say Space Mountain and Primevil Whirl. On the gross and way awful side....Stitch. That burb made me nauseas. Just my opinions, not that even of my families.

I am not a fan of the Tiki Birds but I just don't go on them. Also I think the Honey I shrunk the Audience movie is kinda old and could be replaced with a new 3-D movie. I think they should update a lot of the rides. Having said this I will add a vote to bring back the original Imagination ride.

I went to WDW for thanksgiving 2004. And i remember my whole trip. I think that one of the rides that should be, well not removed but re-done is the kali river rapids ride. We waited in line for about 15 or 20 minutes for a 2 minute ride. I have to say, I was really dissapointed. But riding "dinosaur" 4 times made up for that ride :goodvibes .

there were a few other rides that seemed to old and needed to be removed or re-done. i really dont remember them at the moment though :faint:

In reading everyone's responses, I figured I'd better put my two cents in so I created a profile just to do it!

I think this is a unique idea and I have to say there's not one ride I'd get rid of. Attractions that are dated, could perhaps be improved by some updating such as the Mexico ride. At the same time though, you must remember that an attraction like that that has been there for so long is going to be hard for Disney to revamp..Such as what they did with Stich which is why I'm disappointed that so many are unahppy with it.

They worked with what they had, there's no room to expand that space and I think it was a great idea for the show. I went on Alien Encounter twice, once in fourth grade (and I cried the WHOLE time) and once again when I was a freshmen in high school (and still was scared out of my mind). Stich is even better the the previous ride Mission to Mars or something like that.

Also, attractions like the Great Movie Ride will probably never be taken out. That's a staple to MGM just as Haunted Mansion is to MK, it's something that guests look forward to and I have rode myself time and time again.

As for what I'd get rid of??? :confused3 :rotfl:

There's not one thing I can think of that I'd get rid of...Though one time, I did fall asleep in the hall of presidents. :rotfl2:

I personally would like to see more attractions in the countries of Epcot, I've seen some unused space they could do a neat attraction with.

Bottom line, just try to remember that Disney is CONSTANTLY (trust me, CONSTANTLY) thinking about marketing and they choose to keep rides or get rid of rides based on what consumers like.

....Ok, back to "Disney World Mode"

I do not like Star Tours or Stitch.

I think there are some rides that need updating though ie.. the mexico boat ride, The Carosel of Progress and the end of the Epcot ride.
