Reviews of Disney Resort Rooms

We have stayed onsite nine times, and we have never had a room that was dirty, smelly, or otherwise unacceptable. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but I wouldn't let it concern me about an upcoming trip.

Patty, just because a few posters on this board say their rooms were clean doesn't necessarily make it the truth for all of the rooms at a resort. One of these posters on this thread said their room smelled like vomit, and they had to wear socks just to walk on the carpet. You don't think that is a problem? I highly doubt all of these reviews were false especially when they post pictures of bugs in their review, and all have consistent themes.

I would give you my opinion, based on my actual experience, but I am quite certain you will ignore what I say and quote another bad review.

I understand that. I'm just not sure what it is you want to hear.

Adding that the poster who mentioned the vomit smell said they were moved to a new room, and they do not sound unhappy with WDW resorts.

So, again...what are you looking for?

Okkkkkkk, so look elsewhere??? :confused3

Good grief - and to use your logic.....just because there are certain bad reviews of every resort, doesn't mean they are all the rooms/resorts are like that.
There are thousands of rooms on property. So to answer your question - there are NO resorts that you can be certain you will have zero problems with. Just like there are NO resorts that can guarantee you the best bus service...and NO restaurants that you can be promised a great meal...

People tend to post negative reviews at a much higher rate than positive ones, regardless of what they're reviewing.

We've never had a reason to complain about any room we've gotten on Disney property. Sure, it's a case of Any Given Sunday-- on any particular day at any particular resort, any particular housekeeper can do a less than wonderful job. But on that same day in the same resort, there may be an entire legion of housekeepers doing magnificent jobs. But no one posts a review, because you expect your room to be clean.

If the reviews have you that unsure about staying on site, then keep hunting until you find a resort where the reviews make you more comfortable.

But we're returning to the Beach Club. (And, given both today's snowstorm and the 2 more in the forecast, I can't wait!!!)

I will tell you that, in addition to a clean room, the last time we stayed at the Beach Club the staff went above and beyond for us. My husband had a medical crisis, and ended up in the ER the day before we were due to leave for home. Worse, they wanted to admit him. I went down to the desk in tears. I had no idea what I was going to do-- get a room somewhere for the 5 of us until he was released?? Put my kids on a plane alone and ask family to meet them at the airport (actualy, nope that one wasn't happening.) Blow off $800 or $900 worth of nonrefundable airline tickets? And if he was released, I had no idea how I was going to pack up thousands of dollars worth of photography equipment to get it on the plane. (When he's not teaching, he works part time in a photo studio. His photography stuff are our most valuable possesions. And I have no idea how to pack it all.)

The CMS were amazing. Right away they gave me an extra 2 hours in the room in the morning. And when my husband was released later that night, they got his meds right up to us. And paid for the cab fare, round trip. And gave us the room until our DME bus left at 430 pm the following afternoon. And sent a letter in response to my thank you. And called a few weeks later to see how he was doing.

Read all the reviews you want. But I'm going back to the Beach Club. Yesm we were impressed by our room and by the resort. But we were totally bowled over by the service.

So moving someone to a different room justifies and excuses the condition of the room that smelled like vomit? All is good?
Or Having bugs in your bed, etc... All is good?
I know you guys love Disney but surely you can't just dismiss this stuff or someone that questions these rooms.
I am trying to figure out why some of you just dismiss anything bad that has been said about a Disney resort that costs $500/night.

This guy just reviewed the Poly on 2/2/14, and took pictures of the bugs he found in his bed and a picture of the dirty lights which he attached to his review.

We are staying club level, which is normally great at disney. We came in a day early and payed for an extra night.what a mistake. They never could separate the trips, kept getting turned down for everything with the magic band 3 times had to put credit card on file. Also entrance to park was messed up on the bands. There was a bug of some kind in the bed we put it in a glass and brought it to the concierge to find out what it was. The problems were addressed and fixed each time. But you hate spending a quarter of your trip to Disney getting problems solved. Three rides brokedown when we were on them for online for them. The Monorail kept breaking down also. Disney needs to spend a lot more time for maintenance on what they have instead of just building new stuff all time, while the people who pay for it have crappy trips.

Link to his review with his pictures. It will be the first review:

So out of all that, there was a single 'room condition' issue with a single bug, once?

Thank you AliceAnn. Nice reply without the attacks.

I don't see where anyone attacked you.

But, personally, it's not "dismissing" this stuff, it's answering your question based on my own personal experience. I value my own experience versus an anonymous review.

I don't think most people are dismissing the reviews but are saying that they have not had that same experience. I will continue to go until I ,personally, have a lousy experience. So far, I haven't so I'm going by my own history and not dwelling on reviews by other people I don't know. I definitely think that if you are this worried you certainly should not pay $500 per night at Disney. Stay at a value with a discount and lower your expectation or go elsewhere where the reviews and prices better fit what you are looking for.

I want to be objective here, but I do not at all understand what you want at this point, OP?

It seemed that you came to either be reassured or get people to confirm what you read online. So folks here reassured you mainly, relayed their own positive and a few negative experiences, but you just want to come back and continue to badger everyone and dig up and post more bad reviews. It seems that you won't be happy until everyone says "ok, you're right, we are all lying and every Disney room is filthy and sucks".

So either accept the reassurances and book a room or decide you can't and check out non-Disney locations.

No Kaytieeldr..... there are numerous reviews and posts on this board and other websites about bed bugs. Here was just recent proof with pictures. And how can you just dismiss that this "one" room with pictures had bugs in the bed for 500/night?

We're not. We're trying to point out that you're refusing to acknowledge many, many, many POSITIVE TripAvisor reviews, or even positive parts of the reviews of which you quote only the negative parts. For every single Walt Disney World resort, the reviews overwhelmingly positive. Each and every resort has a TripAdvisor average review rating of very good or better.

That reviewer couldn't identify the smell. He/she made some comparisons to what it might be. And while you won't have to worry about that bug, it's Florida. Heck, its planet Earth. There are bugs.

We had couple of problems over the years- a dirty room at the Poly complete with a pair of dirty men's underwear under the bedspread and a lot of mold in the bathroom of the GF Sugar Loaf room.
Other than that, we haven't had a problem with dirty rooms and we've been over 30 times.

So the reviewer said that their room smelled like vomit/sour milk but just because they couldn't 100% be sure that it was caused from vomit/sour milk than it is okay? What in the world?

I have stayed at The Peabody and The Waldorf Astoria the last 3 times I came to Orlando. I can assure you that there weren't any bugs in the beds (just because we are in Florida - lol), stains in the carpet, smelly rooms, or hair in the sinks/tubs.

Nothing like finding a pair of dirty underwear under the bedspread!!!! Hopefully, it wasn't that dirty. LOL

It really does not sound as though the on site resorts are what you want. Why not just return to the resorts where you're confident you'll be happy?
