resort TO mco quesiton.....

i have a question--
we are planning on having family pick us up at ASMo our last day. my husband is afraid this "family member" won't be able to show for one reason or another. i know Mears' shuttles run the resort-mco loop...do you need a ressie for a one way transfer from resort TO mco?? or can i just call them from resort and request a pick-up? any suggestions?

If they already have a van coming to the area, they could probably pick you up, but they do ask that you call 24 hours in advance. I would call the 800 number, talk to Ian and let him give you the specifics.

The Mears Shuttle requires 3 hours notice to be able to pick you up (So, that would be 6hrs prior to flight time). They can sometimes accomodate a walk up, *BUT* it's risky, because they might already be booked up.

The cost is $17 per person, so if you have 3 adults, a taxi would cost about the same ($50ish), and would be direct. Taxis are always waiting out front, by the luggage area, so you can just walk out, hop in, and go.

thanks for the info Tyler...... 3 hours notice is not a problem.....and if they are busy....oh well!! stuck in disney--how upsetting!! it will only be dh, so that will cut the cost-we are not going to the aiport to FLY home, (need to get back to mco to rent car)so i guess anytime we call will be okay. our last day there, we are going to MK and then going to drive (this is where the family member comes in--they are supposed to do MK with us last day as they have AP's) to my in-laws home in Ocala to rest for the rest of the week
i told my dh last night, the whole thing sounds like a pain and he needs to stress to his brother if there's the slightest chance he won't make it, let us know now...cuz we want to make alternate arrangements (prepare to have a rental car ready for us and transportation for it!!) thanks again....info is very helpful!!

Why don't you just rent a car by Disney? National/Alamo are onsite and I think some of the DTD hotels have desks. I think you'll save the airport surcharge.

need to rent from AVIS--only renting one-way and that's the only car rental they have at OCF (Ocala Airport)..... ....but, DTD is our first day and i will certainly check around for an Avis.... thanks!!

Try the Hilton in DTD. Even if you have to pay a litte extra for the rental you save the hastle of going to MCO. If the web gives you a higher rate call Avis and see if you just switch your existing rental reservation to the Hilton. Worth a phone call.

thanks! if needed, i will keep Hilton in my notes. we are the kind of people that will pay extra for convenience... that's not a problem and would save a whole lot of time and hassle!!!
