Resort Change by Disney

I did change my dates from July 1-5 to July 15-19 but the change more than doubled my resort costs. I'm keeping it for the moment but I had a talk with my DDs (14,19) last night that we really can't afford it and they were disappointed but when they heard that it was costing almost $900 more and all they really wanted was to go to the parks they understood. So, if there is no ability to use less expensive accommodations we will cancel.

I knew my girls were really looking forward to something positive and we already had tickets but the additional $$ was causing me stress. I felt so much better after I had that honest conversation with them.

In the meanwhile, yesterday I booked at the Doubletree Hilton at Disney Springs for July 15-19 for about $400 total so if somehow we can get get in the parks with that scenario we'll do that as that's $1200 less than what we are booked for now at AKL Kidani and we can afford that comfortably.
A hard conversation to have but it is one that gives them a real life lesson about life. It shows that your daughters are being understanding and mature about it. Hopefully, you will be able to go to the parks and enjoy the Doubletree stay.

I believe they changed the cancellation policy to up to day of through early October.

Had they changed the recovery FD offer date? I thought it originally ran through September 30.
I believe there are no discounts available in disney's system currently. if you modify your trip dates to a new day, then there is no discount to cover those new dates.

That could be. When I changed my reservation a couple of days ago I was told that if I canceled less than 7 days before check-in I would lose the $200 deposit, but she could have been wrong as policies are changing rapidly. Or maybe it is just the policy for the pre-park opening reservations.

I just got off the phone and the hold time I was dreading was minimal. I got right through with no wait but waited maybe 5 minutes for a second agent. We’ve been moved to a 1 BR at OKW and were able to drop two nights from the original reservation. My balance was adjusted to reflect the shorter stay. The balance is due on check in and we can cancel 24 hours in advance. It was really easy and I’m extremely pleased! Thank you for the help!

Original Reservation
July 1-8
Caribbean Beach
King room
Room only/APH rate

New Reservation

I didn’t mean the discount still existed I was just stating that I thought the recovery FD offered to guests effected by park closures. If that recovery went through December I would have used it for my canceled May trip

People who were booked on the free dining recovery offer from June through September are able to change their booking through December 18 (I think) with 35% off the rack rate of a Ft Wilderness or dvc resort room.

Waiting to see what happens with our CSR booking 26th August (assuming borders are open between US and Uk by then). Hopefully my free dining offer cancellation by Disney will be reflected in the final balance I have to pay by the end of this month (booked with wdw uk). I see on here there are talks of NBA taking over CSR from the end of July but how long do the games and play offs last for? Will it all be over by 26th August?

Has anyone been moved from “all star music family room for 6 people” to somewhere and if so where?

OOOOHHHHH, that's encouraging. We are at GDT 9/27-10/4, really hoping we get a good upgrade as we don't want a lateral move if they have Mods open, we specifically booked GDT for the 'luxe' ;)

Saaaame. We're in a CL suite in the tower in August and if they try and move us to a moderate I will not be happy! If the NBA is kicking me out, I'm expecting a nicer 1BR considering the price/layout/amenities of that GDT room. Fingers crossed!

I had AsMo from 7/1-7/14 and was told I could not modify to a less nights reservation. I would have liked the free upgrade but not for 13 nights w/o parks.

That is an issue, they should have put in another block at least through July 4.

I agree because we know that Jambo is not opening right away. But, for DVC, it means that someone will be calling them to move them from Jambo if they book those rooms now.

I just checked DVC availability and for the period of 6/26-7/3 literally every room type is available at every resort. However, that is through DVC, I am not sure they are using that same inventory to move reservations.

DVC and what is used for cash is not always the same thing. IMO, it is misleading to post what we see as owners for cash guests as those rooms may never be pulled for that use. How Disney actually is able to pull rooms in 60 days is not a process we are privy to.

Yes, there have been a lot of changes to DVC trips since it was announced that parks were opening July 11th...and, it could even be why Disney decided to offer cash guests a move for no additional charge to those rooms...but I wouldn't use what we see as any sort of guide that there will be choices out there for moves. JMHO...YMMV

I think it may have undergone multiple offers - 1st disney closure and then when disney extended the closure. When I called the numerous times I was never offered the deal since it was not offered at the time. I do know the agent Saturday night told me numerous times that if you had the deal, you could book it anytime up to and including December 18th. Those people are being converted to 35% off and according to the agent could move their dates around.

I tried to get 35% and did not succeed. She told me exact terms so I could write guest services to complain. I am going to write about the AP situation. If a company that initial gave me decent, not great, discounts on hotel accommodations no longer wishes to extend the discount and charge me rack rate, we will no longer stay there.

I can hope for an AP discount but think it is highly unlikely. The just took the offering off their resort page in the last week and are scrambling to find accommodations for the currently held reservations for the next month. Plus they have to move all the NBA impacted reservations. Likely many people canceled this summer but seems like a lot of people moved to the Fall. They likely have the guests numbers they desire during this time. Not holding my breath for an AP deal.

Again, as I stated earlier, it's great to see disney taking care of existing reservations and upgrading.
