Resort Change by Disney

I've called three times. The first two were earlier in the closure while the last one was this past Saturday. Saturday, I had a lengthy discussion with an agent that seemed to be on top of things. She referred me to guest services. If I had called during the free dining and modified to that, she told me numerous options. I presented the argument that I called outside the free dining offer and others getting 35% and date flexibility. Nothing. She sympathized and said Disney had no offers for me other than rack rate.

Contact guest services and let them know you're unhappy. She was nice and answered all our questions about offers, AP, park admission etc.

I haven't heard of anyone getting the 35% AND date flexibility. I have only heard of the 35% for those people who had free dining and lost it when the dining plans went away, and only if they keep their original reservation.

Yes, I just did this last week when they started allowing modifications for those with trips in the June 5 - June 21 date range. I moved my June funds to my July trip.

That's not an option. Options for June 22 - July 5 currently are 1) canceling, 2) modifying to different dates, 3) keeping the same dates but agreeing to change to the one and only resort WDW offers you. You cannot keep the same dates and pick your own resort.

I’m assuming you can still choose to cancel if you don’t want either the assigned resort or to pay extra for a different one. Is that right?

Just to clear up confusion for many:

-If you keep your original dates and take the resort Disney moves you to, you aren't responsible for paying the difference in $
-If you keep your original dates and you decide to change resorts from the one Disney offers, you will pay the difference in $
-If you decide to change your dates, you will pay the difference and must choose one of the resorts that has current reopening plans
-35% off discount is only for people who lost free dining, it is a recovery offer since free dining isn't an option anymore. People who had paid for dining plans are just getting refunded for those dining plans.

ETA:
Also, note that in the first day or two of this a lot of CMs were learning along with all of us, so if calling just be clear whether you're looking for the complimentary upgrade for your same dates, or looking to change dates. Also, some people who reported getting moved from CBR to Poly or other big upgrades like this *likely* are people who paid for those changes and just didn't think to specify that. I think they've tried to keep resort changes pretty consistent to avoid making people upset (though I know room-wise placements have been all over the place).

One point.,,guests with reservations between June 22nd and July 4th have not been allowed to pay the difference in order to choose a different resort than offered.

So, if Disney offers to move you To X, and you don’t want it, you cancel...no ability to choose something different, even if you offer to pay for it..

I believe that those who had the *free* dining guest recovery offer and re-booked for early June (IOW before resorts begin to open) have been offered 35% off the rack rate for a future booking between July 11 - Dec 31 but the only resorts being offered are DVC and FW. Maybe I’m misremembering.

What if you have an expensive room like my Poly LV CL? Has anyone heard what they move those types to?

I don’t know how they will be able to fit everyone in DVC rooms and still accommodate all the points that are out there from being closed for months, particularly in the fall.
I doubt there are many people who are willing to pay DVC rack rates to move their reservations.

Are you sure? I know some CM's answers have been all over the place, but I was under the impression that you definitely could switch, it just would cost you.

PS-obviously I'm new to these boards and don't know how to do responses 😂

Agreed. I was primarily thinking that as it gets to the fall, DVC members and all those points from canceled reservations will be piled on top of the "normal" demand for the fall and use up the DVC inventory. They will need to open up some hotel resorts, IMO.

Yes, correct. Even if you decide to take the assigned resort or move dates, you can still cancel at a later date for a full refund, up until 7 days before check-in.

Arriving August 7th for a split stay. Already in BCV studio for 2 nights, but then moving to Pop. We booked BCV specifically for a pool day, so still not sure what we will do if SAB is closed. I am fascinated by everyone's moving sagas.
We are almost the exact same- check in August 14 for 2 nights at YC for SAB before moving to Pop. I've been following along, too, anxiously awaiting what the plan is for our trip.

the ap discount was only through June I believe. The bounce back was through august, then most of September and December. The free dining modification, according to the Disney agent Saturday, was the remainder of the year until December 18.

The free dining modification was some date in June through check in December 18. I was only offered rack rate the remainder of the year for the AP reservation and summer or December, if available, for the bounce back. This is what I am referring to when I say no date flexibility.

If I could have booked something in October or November with a discount, I would have.

Any date changes are being reported as a no...it is considered a modification. Certainly call to see...Worst case...it doesn’t work for you
Do you know about changing the number if days on a ticket? Our reservation starts July and I need to increase the number of park days on our tickets on our reservation. We will keep the same dates etc.

I took the 35% discount for my September trip at ASMu. It would be amazing if I were to be put in a DVC resort at that price! I just can’t imagine that happening!

Currently, no adjustments to tickets are being allowed. The current rules are for trips prior to park opening.

What has been reported is that those guests are being refunded tickets.

They are refunding CL and offering a move elsewhere. The only move that I have read is to BLT 1 bedroom,

But, guests will not be given a choice so what happens to one, doesn’t mean it will happen to all.

So, if you’re trip is after July 4th, then honestly, we don’t know how any moves will play out.

If before, you have to call and see what you are offered...then you can decide to accept it or cancel.

You can switch, but only if you reschedule the trip after July 11th. Any trips being moved prior to June 22nd to July th are take what we offer or cancel,

Now, there have been reports of CMs telling guests they have change dates and pay, which is inaccurate.

I believe that those rebooking now at rack rate will still be eligible to book a different resort when more open, and apply future discounts if they come out.

Since AP rates have not been released, that is why they are not transferring. The 35% discount for free dining loss is because the dates for that special went until mid December,

Just checked availability and it seems Jambo is back in business for DVC? Lots of availability listed! This could really change things up👍
The timing of removing the block was just after we found out that MLS was going to Swan and Dolphin. It still doesn't tell us when Jambo will open for sure, but it allows DVC members to book through the end of the year, where yesterday they could not.
