Resort Change by Disney

Just to add my situation to the mix: I have a July 4-5 Riviera Deluxe Studio-Preferred and called yesterday to ask if there were any other room types available for that 1 night. They said no other room types were available. Which I do find kind of odd lol, but maybe it's all booked up already?

It is because right now, from reports, they are not allowing guests a choice to choose something different. I think they did that so you don't have people complaining as to why one person from POP was moved to an SSR GV and someone else was moved to a Ft. Wilderness cabin.

I'm one with current reservations before July 4 and I need to call to change our dates to end of August. I'm so stumped on what to do, though, because we're AP holders and we almost ALWAYS get an AP discount. I think it's going to be a headache to be forced to change to a DVC resort now and then hope they'll announce resorts that will be open after July 11 (or whatever) and then the big mess with everyone changing from DVC resorts to the re-opened ones. I could just kick myself for not booking our August resort before this all happened, but I was waiting for AP discounts to book it.

At this point, Disney just cancel everything...They are lacking communication, clear direction, and STANDARDS...Bob CHEAPEK is driving the Walt Disney Company into the ground.

My free dinning offer was booked back in January and was not a recovery offer. I'm hoping that I can move my July 7-14 Vacation to December 26-Jan 1 and get the 35% off resort.

From what is being reported, choosing to reserve a DVC or Ft. Wilderness now does not lock you into not being able to change it once more resorts open or they release AP discount. You can always try to change it when more is open. So, maybe consider what is available for dates, switch it and then cancel later if you can't get anything else you want or a discount?

I called today to check on the supervisor approval to get a different room instead of the studio at SSR for 5 people and still no change they told me if not call back Friday the 12th...We'll see what happens...

Wow... all hotels except DVC closed through the end of the year is quite a wild rumor... but personally, if that’s truly the case and we are upgraded for free from ASMo in October, that will work for me!
Unlike the June 1st one he said I kind of believe this why open the other resorts until they actually had the volume to do so? also, I can see the other ones opening slowly as they get comfortable with more people there.

from what I've seen on here Riveria and poly seem pretty full for 4th of July weekend I'm willing to bet a bunch of people did it 11 months out just a guess though.

Let us know what happens! I have same free dining offer, June 26-July 3 and want to overlap into Jan if they will let me. With the discount lol.

I had a 6/22 reservation at CSR, didn't do anything and got a call from Disney today. I had her cancel it, confirm the refund amounts and she was able to cancel my 6/26 at Poly as well. Hope their team keeps reaching out to affected guests like that, much easier catching their call than waiting on the phone for a couple hours.

But less than 20% of RiV was available for booking last August for DVC. As of March, it increased to around 35%. The bulk of RiV is owned still by DVD and not open to DVC points booking.

Waiting to see what happens with our CSR booking 26th August (assuming borders are open between US and Uk by then). Hopefully my free dining offer cancellation by Disney will be reflected in the final balance I have to pay by the end of this month (booked with wdw uk). I see on here there are talks of NBA taking over CSR from the end of July but how long do the games and play offs last for? Will it all be over by 26th August?

The NBA? They aren't finishing until Mid-October.

Wish there was some consistency in what CMs are doing.

Based on reports here, it doesn't seem like CMs have much flexibility with rebookings and that there is some reservations system making the offers not the CMs themselves. There probably are ways that the CMs can override the system, but only in limited circumstances and with approval from higher up the chain of command, like when the system rebooks customers into rooms that cannot accommodate their parties. The lack of consistency probably has more to do with however the reservations system reassigns rooms than the CMs themselves.

Very true, But, allowing a few to shorten trips and not others is not something that should be inconsistent.

Saaaame. We're in a CL suite in the tower in August and if they try and move us to a moderate I will not be happy! If the NBA is kicking me out, I'm expecting a nicer 1BR considering the price/layout/amenities of that GDT room. Fingers crossed!

If NBA does stay at CSR, it will be closed through October 12th at the latest (earlier if the finals go less than 7 games, but still into early October at least) and you will almost certainly be rebooked. I would hold out for at least a 1 BR villa at a DVC resort or a move to a similarly priced room at a Deluxe resort if those open by August.

Is one of the 5 an infant? SSR Studios don't even sleep 5 people lol

FWIW (and the good of the cause... Lol)
I just received a second survey from Disney Destinations Research. I have an ASMo reservation for Nov. 24-30. I also received the last survey when it appeared that they were only sent to those traveling from June-September. This survey again asked how committed I was to traveling on my dates, but it also asked me to click/choose the changes/protocols that I knew about; whether I would be likely to use WDW bus transportation; the reason for my trip. This survey seemed a little more focused on comparing how aware I was about the impending protocols and my willingness to still travel.

ETA: Also, it asked me whether I was a pass holder or had already purchased park tickets or special event tickets. I do not have any tickets at this time. Just a resort reservation.
