Resort Change by Disney

The timing of removing the block was just after we found out that MLS was going to Swan and Dolphin. It still doesn't tell us when Jambo will open for sure, but it allows DVC members to book through the end of the year, where yesterday they could not.

And to add, they dumped it all. I could book a room next week, even though no DVC is open.

I think this is definitely though a sign that Jambo will not be used for sports teams, but does mean that they could open the hotel portion for moves of CSR guests who will be displaced by NBA, if that becomes confirmed.

I have a July 1-8 room only reservation at CBR for what was supposed to be a solo trip. My husband is considering going if we receive a nice upgrade and I have a few questions.

Has anyone been able to shorten their stay and still keep the free upgrade? Seven nights with no parks would be a bit long. We’re not interested in paying for an upgrade.

I received the email notification and confirmed that we were still coming. Will Disney contact me or do I have to call?

Thanks!

We waited for Disney to call us, after I clicked "We are planning on Going" from the email. They called yesterday.

The very nice CM let me know that we could shorten our trip without penalty (I didn't ask, he just offered that info).

Did you shorten and then moved to a DVC or Ft Wilderness without any additional charge?

Good info as yesterday someone reported they were not allowed to shorten trip and come one day later.

That is an issue, they should have put in another block at least through July 4.

We didn't shorten, he just suggested that if we decided to stay for less than 7 nights, that we could make that change.

We were moved to DVC at no charge.

Thanks! How long did it take for them to call? I confirmed on Monday. My spouse would LOVE to get Ft Wilderness, we usually camp there in our 5th wheel when he goes. I’m pretty much fine with anything except for a Riviera Tower studio. I love him, just not quite enough for a week in a queen sized bed 😉

Has anyone asked if anything else was available when they were told the room they would be moved to? I really do not like the larger resorts especially FW. I’m guessing I will have to deal with it though unless I get some pixie dust.

Just to add my situation to the mix: I have a July 4-5 Riviera Deluxe Studio-Preferred and called yesterday to ask if there were any other room types available for that 1 night. They said no other room types were available. Which I do find kind of odd lol, but maybe it's all booked up already?

I just checked DVC availability and for the period of 6/26-7/3 literally every room type is available at every resort. However, that is through DVC, I am not sure they are using that same inventory to move reservations.

I responded to the email on Saturday, as soon as it was received. I received a call back yesterday (Tuesday).

Yes, as I said, I don't think they'll need to move as many and when they do move them, they'll have other resorts to choose from besides DVC and the FW cabins. I look for the sweet upgrades those going before park opening are getting to end and perhaps a more sideways move- value to value, moderate to moderate etc.
When I called to modify my dates to November, I was told that only DVC and FW resorts were options for that time frame.

The Sage Continues: (You can read yesterday's update for the first part)

A HAPPY ENDING, and my kids think all things Disney is cancelled so this will be a nice surprise to them and get them a brief Disney experience.

What an ordeal for you! So happy it all worked out for you. You are a great storyteller! I know I would have had some of the same thoughts as you, when you had to start backpeddling and trying to explain why the 2 bedroom was the best fit for you.

I was having heart palpitations and getting sweaty reading your story. You got an awesome upgrade, but man you had to work for it! 😅
Me too!

I believe the June 12th deadline is for the people who booked reservations before July 4th. My trip is July 7th and I called and they can’t do anything to my reservation yet.
Yes, the June 12th deadline if for those of us with trips before July 4.

You should call.

Just to clear up confusion for many:

-If you keep your original dates and take the resort Disney moves you to, you aren't responsible for paying the difference in $
-If you keep your original dates and you decide to change resorts from the one Disney offers, you will pay the difference in $ (some are saying CMs not allowing you to do this option so maybe take this one with a grain of salt)
-If you decide to change your dates, you will pay the difference and must choose one of the resorts that has current reopening plans
-35% off discount is only for people who lost free dining, it is a recovery offer since free dining isn't an option anymore. People who had paid for dining plans are just getting refunded for those dining plans.

ETA:
Also, note that in the first day or two of this a lot of CMs were learning along with all of us, so if calling just be clear whether you're looking for the complimentary upgrade for your same dates, or looking to change dates. Also, some people who reported getting moved from CBR to Poly or other big upgrades like this *likely* are people who paid for those changes and just didn't think to specify that. I think they've tried to keep resort changes pretty consistent to avoid making people upset (though I know room-wise placements have been all over the place).
Good information! Thanks!

I haven't heard of anyone getting the 35% AND date flexibility. I have only heard of the 35% for those people who had free dining and lost it when the dining plans went away, and only if they keep their original reservation.

I was originally booked with the original free dining offer from Jan. for June 28-July 3rd. I received the email and called and was able to book the FW cabins for November for about the same price as my original POP reservation. So, it looks like I got the 35% discount. They also offered me OKW Studio for just about sixty dollars more. Based on the rack rate from mousesavers.com it looks like I did get the 35% discount on the room.

For my figures, I used the information on mousesavers to get basic prices for the tickes and resort. The basic price of a day ticket for an adult ranges starts at 435 so I used it since I am going in mid November. And the basic price of a FW cabin the week of November 8th is 471.00 a night. So, rack rate would be a total of 3, 660 for 5 nights at the cabin with 5 day tickets for 3 adults. I am paying 2, 935.50.

OOOOHHHHH, that's encouraging. We are at GDT 9/27-10/4, really hoping we get a good upgrade as we don't want a lateral move if they have Mods open, we specifically booked GDT for the 'luxe' ;)

We’re booked at Pop for July 5. Obviously not going, but haven’t done anything yet. We had a backup booked for July 28. When they contact me, can I just move the funds I paid for the July 5 to the July 28 trip? I couldn’t before because they considered it modifying 🤦🏼‍♀️ I don’t want to wait for the while thing to be refunded in gift cards just to send them back. Hopefully we’ll get to go. Although Pop is looking less likely

For what it's worth - I had a trip for June 29th - July 6th and just canceled it myself to be refunded back to gift cards - it only took 1 day for the funds to be back on my gift cards and then I just used that toward my July 23rd - 30th back up reservation. It might be slightly more of a hassle than having them move the funds for you, but it wasn't a lengthy process to wait for the refund either if that's what you're worried about.

We had July 1st to 8th at POR. We wanted to change the dates to July 22 to 29 when the parks are open.
We would have to PAY THE DIFFERENCE FOR A CABIN OR A DELUXE! We have to pay almost double! Cannot do. Sadly, we will be forced to cancel.
I did change my dates from July 1-5 to July 15-19 but the change more than doubled my resort costs. I'm keeping it for the moment but I had a talk with my DDs (14,19) last night that we really can't afford it and they were disappointed but when they heard that it was costing almost $900 more and all they really wanted was to go to the parks they understood. So, if there is no ability to use less expensive accommodations we will cancel.

I knew my girls were really looking forward to something positive and we already had tickets but the additional $$ was causing me stress. I felt so much better after I had that honest conversation with them.

In the meanwhile, yesterday I booked at the Doubletree Hilton at Disney Springs for July 15-19 for about $400 total so if somehow we can get get in the parks with that scenario we'll do that as that's $1200 less than what we are booked for now at AKL Kidani and we can afford that comfortably.

Yes, correct. Even if you decide to take the assigned resort or move dates, you can still cancel at a later date for a full refund, up until 7 days before check-in.

I believe they changed the cancellation policy to up to day of through early October.

the ap discount was only through June I believe. The bounce back was through august, then most of September and December. The free dining modification, according to the Disney agent Saturday, was the remainder of the year until December 18.

The free dining modification was some date in June through check in December 18. I was only offered rack rate the remainder of the year for the AP reservation and summer or December, if available, for the bounce back. This is what I am referring to when I say no date flexibility.

If I could have booked something in October or November with a discount, I would have.

Had they changed the recovery FD offer date? I thought it originally ran through September 30.
