Been searching but can't find an answer to this.

We will be flying Air Tran and paying baggage fees. If we prepay our fees online when we make our airline reservations, how will RAC know this? Will we have to show them some sort of confirmation?

Thanks for posting this. I have the exact same question. Also, do you know how far in advance you can pay those baggage fees? Is this something you do before you even leave for WDW?

You can't pay luggage fees ahead of time when you purchase airfare. When you check in at 24 hours prior to your departing flight to MCO you will have to pay your fees before it will let you finish checking in. The info is then in their system. When you drop your bags off at your home airport it will show up.

At WDW the day before your departure day, you will get a DME envelope on your door with the time the DME bus will be picking you up the next day. At the bottom of that letter is a number to call to pay your luggage fees. The next morning call that BAGS number. Have a pen, paper, and credit card ready, because as soon as they answer, the rep will immediately ask how many bags you will be checking. Give her your credit card number and she will give you a confirmation number. I always write mine on the bottom of that letter with the BAGS number. When you drop your bags off at the RAC desk, they will ask for ID and that comfirmation number.

I don't think so. We always call the BAGS number and pay early the morning we are leaving to come home. Just be sure to keep the confirmation number they give you, as the people at the RAC desk will ask for it.

That's exactly what I do. They usually don't ask to see the conf number, but it's good to have it. And if it's on your pickup time sheet, it's right there, in hand, at checkout.

Thanks. I thought for sure last year I paid baggage fees when I booked but I may be thinking of all the other fees...I flew Allegiant at that time.

Last year, we were able to pay right at the RAC desk.

Just make sure you don't check-in at the 24 hour mark and pay the baggage fees. The woman in front of us had done this for her whole entire family.

When they got up to RAC, they had essentially already checked-in and they were locked out of the computer. They had to take their bags to the airport.

So should I check in (using my smartphone) at the 24-hour mark, but not pay the bag fees then, or not check in at ALL until I get to RAC?

As I stated, do NOT check in at the 24 hour mark; because you have already essentially checked in and the RAC computer will lock you out.
