Reservations

We are awaiting our package in the mail to join DVC; however, the question is still in my mind - Since we are probably going to be going to Disney June 2002; and it is already August and we will probably not close on the DVC for another month (which is less than 11 months) - What is the likelihood of getting 10 days and one of Disney's vacation club resorts i.e BWV, VWL, or OKW?

Hi DPO541 and welcome to the DIS! If you cannot get your choice of reservations at your home resort 11 months prior, you can try the other DVC resorts at 7 months prior. That means you cannot book until this November for June 2002. Chances are if you are somewhat flexible with dates, size of room, etc, you should be able to reserve what you want this far ahead. Good luck!

I don't think you will have any trouble. We usually have no problem unless we want a GV. There are not many of them. BW may be harder to get into, but OKW shouldn't be. I know you will have a great time and welcome to the family.

If you are buying direct from DVC, you don't have to wait until you close to make a reservation. As you as you make your deposit you can make a reservation. If you are buying resale, then you would have to wait until closing.

hi: also, you can have your guide check availability and make your ressies for you when you give your deposit. my guide helped me that way when we first bought in.

We closed on a resale in late February and immediately made a ressie for BWV (our home resort) for mid-July. This was just less than 5 months in advance. There seemed to be reasonable availability so long as we were okay with preferred view. I would think that if you cannot get into VWL, you should be able to book BWV or OKW at the 7-month window without much difficulty although BWV may not have standard view available at that point.
