We have reservations for SoG in March. I've stayed there already but cannot remember if we can request a room or not - I want to stay ground level facing the quiet pool.

Also, does anyone know where they are adding the additional rooms?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that for a ground floor room it is an additional $10 per night & you should make the room request when you make the ressie. That is what we were told & what we did. You could probably call back & ask if it's possible to get it now or not. I don't know about the request to face the quiet pool.

BTW - do you know if they've finished SoG yet? We are supposed to stay there in April with my brother. I had heard that January ressies were being relocated. We have not heard anything yet either way.

You can request whatever you want, but nothing is guaranteed. They do have what they call "pool view" rooms. These rooms are on the first floor, facing the pool and cost an additional $10/nt. However, if they have over booked, you still may not have that room (you would not pay the extra $10/nt, of course), but they would probably try their best to give you a pool view on another floor or another ground floor room (whichever is more of a preference for you).

I'm not sure if there will be any other different "views" available for a fee w/the new section of the hotel :::cough cough::: opening. :)

I called to ask for a pool view but the lady said they were all booked for that view during our stay. I have on our reservations for a room near the front lobby. From looking at a map, we may still end up near the pool but the lady said that the gound level is the 2nd floor - does this make sense?

Yes. The set up of the original hotel was you drove up a small hill to get to the loading/unloading area. This was also where you walked into the hotel lobby, check in, etc. Only this part of the hotel was that way so, when you walked in the front door, you were on the 2nd floor. Think of a bi-level home built into the very end of a hill. :)

Jodi- I stayed on the second floor near the lobby about two years ago. I found this room to be very noisy because not only all the traffic to the second floor passed my room, but also all the traffic going to the first and third floors passed my room to get to the elevators. I would not recommend this location, if you want a quiet room.
