Rental Car at Resort?

DH and I will be at Bay Lake in September.
We have a few things that we want to check out at other resorts, and I'm wondering if it would be worth our time to rent a car for a day rather than take a bus to Boardwalk Villas then back to MK.
Can we rent a car directly from the Contemporary or do I need to go to the car care center?

IF we do decide to rent a car for a day do I need to reserve in advance or do they keep some on hand for last minute renters?

The only reason I ask is because when we stayed at POFQ in 2008 they asked us if we needed to rent a car at check in and said they would do it for us right then and there.

I would think that unless you plan to go off property it would be an unwarranted expense. You could take the monorail to epcot and just walk out the international gateway, or the boat from DHS.If you're planing to use the car for other things then of course it would be worth it. We'll be at Bay Lake 9/25-10-7.

I rented a car for 2 days out of my 6 on my last trip. I used Enterprise and they picked me up at the resort and dropped me at EPCOT (They dont always do that). I think for an economy car I paid $50-60. I got to visit other resorts and shop off property. Definitely worth it.

Just reserve in advance to get a good pick up time

I would just take a cab. Can't be more than $10-$15 each way I would think.

If you do plan to use a rental car make the reservation in advance otherwise you may have to pay a walk up rate which can be higher than an advanced reservation rate.
