Has anybody been to Remy lately? How was your experience?

I dined at Remy on the Fantasy a few years ago and honestly wasn't that impressed. I don't think it helped that when I dined only certain courses allowed for a choice and the first several courses were types of seafood that I don't particularly like (no choice available). Reading recent threads it looks like there's more choice now?

Does anybody have any thoughts or reviews to share? I'm not sure if I want to try it again when I'm on the Dream.

Told my server I hate seafood and I didnt get any seafood. That's all you have to do. Pick what you want

Had Remy brunch on the Fantasy a few weeks ago and it was a set, multi-course menu. Very little room for choice, and yes, very seafood-heavy. I did ask for & receive one substitution, but didn't care for the substitution (& what they substituted was the only other option).

My husband & I dined at Remy a few weeks ago while on the Dream and I can say we weren't that impressed either. They had two prefix menus to choose from (American & French) and we chose one of each. It was a nice experience, the food was good but not worth the price IMHO. Palo was much better.

Thanks for the responses!

This is essentially what happened to me. I don't even think I'm that picky lol. However there are some things I don't like (mussels, clams, etc.) that seemed to be all that was available for the first courses when I dined.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I felt the food fell short of the price but wasn't sure if it was my issues with the dishes.

It's possible I'm just not who these restaurants are targeting. I sort of felt the same way about V&A. It was good but not really worth the $300+/pp price tag, especially with the stuffy atmosphere of 1909 and all the cloying pomp and circumstance surrounding the service.

We will be trying Palo this time! I have never been. I've heard great things and honestly, at the Palo price point, if it's just ok it's no big deal.

I don't think you'll be disappointed in Palo, great selections to chose from. We went twice, and while DH had all seafood for his courses both times, I'm allergic to shellfish and didn't feel like I had to compromise in the least and made completely different choices each visit.

We just did Remy for dinner, brunch and dessert on the Fantasy in December. I'm allergic to seafood so told them in advance and they suggested a substitute for the seafood courses in the American menu although I was free to choose anything from either the American or French menu or the a la carte options. When we did brunch a couple of days later, they made a custom menu for me that modified the seafood courses.

When we dined at Remy on the Dream in 2012, I did the French menu and they suggested substitutions for the seafood courses. While I was free to choose anything on the menu, they did suggest a substitution that would work with the progression.

I'm interested to try Remy dinner because I know at least that has two set menu choices, rather than the one choice at brunch.

No doubt, if you have a seafood allergy & tell them that in advance, they will customize the whole menu for you (because the brunch menu is so seafood-heavy). However, I have no allergies, so there was nothing for me to tell the restaurant in advance. At brunch, I asked for a substitution for shellfish, which I hate, and they only had one other choice available (some kind of savory cream) that wasn't that great. The rest of the meal was a series of well-made items that I didn't particularly enjoy because they were things I would never have chosen off even a small menu (more seafood, a "nutella" flavored dessert, etc.)

If you don't have an allergy, you can't expect the whole meal to be customized, and with a single set menu, it's basically luck of the draw whether or not you happen to like most of the courses at Remy brunch.

I think if you are a foodie and willing to try the menus basically as presented, these types of experiences are outstanding. And I'm speaking as a vegetarian who as a meat eater was allergic to shellfish. So I just say I'm a vegetarian and try what they bring. It is different than ordering ala crate although they do offer that of course. We have always loved it and dinner there is a bargain considering. We weren't as excited about the brunch, it seemed like a rushed experience.

How was the Remy dessert party? My sister is dying to go to it on our cruise this month, but I'm just not sure it's worth the money, based off what I'm hearing about the dinner/brunch experiences.

Please don't be afraid of the menu choices at Remy. If you're not a fan of seafood, just tell the server. Also, you are able to talk to the chef ahead of time and let them know of any dietary restrictions (medical or otherwise) and they will work around them.

Awesome. But don't do it on the same day as brunch. We didn't have a lot of time options so we had to do them within a short period of time of each other and I wasn't able to finish the 6th dessert. I'm not that big on desserts and was worried that it would be sickly sweet which they weren't. There were a couple that were an indescribable taste explosion. I will say that the dessert party was probably the most unique dining experience I've ever had. The pastry chefs are incredibly inventive.

But it all depends on your budget and your liking for such experiences. We've done all three (dinner, brunch and dessert) and would do them all again. I did the champagne pairing instead of wine pairing for our dinner (amazing). DH did the additional white truffle pairing which he loved along with the wine pairing. We have no problem spending a lot on this type of dining and we love it. We also do V&A with wine pairing and 1 oz caviar (for DH only) upcharge (I think we've done it 8 times now). So it's hard to tell another person if it's worth it or not. For us it is.

I don't have any dietary reistrictions and would never ask the chef to alter the entire menu for my tastes. It's one of those things where I don't know until I see the menu.

I like certain types of seafood very much. I don't like bivalves and won't eat a few fish types (mostly because I'm afraid of ciguatera) and that just happened to be half the menu the night I was there. I was offered one substitution which wasn't great.

Admittedly I wasn't super impressed with the course choices that I did like, which is why I wanted to crowd source opinions before I go back lol.

Thank you! We'll be on a 4 night cruise, and it's during our at-sea day in the afternoon. We have other things planned for the morning, so we couldn't do the brunch at Palo. And 6 desserts? I guess we'll just be eating light for lunch and/or dinner that day!

They're small but they do add up after a while. I definitely suggest light eating prior. My favourite was the tropical fruit ravioli (assuming they have the same menu as what we had).

We did Remy's on the Dream five years ago and it was amazing. Best meal experience ever. Just did Remy's on the Fantasy last week and was so disappointed. I am just ok with fish but the menu was very fish oriented. I felt the lobster was raw. Also heard the table next to me questioning the lobster. I will not go back again.

We did Remy back in Sept. I would say once I got over the incredibly awkward this place is so fancy I don't belong here feeling it was great. It was nothing any of the staff did it was just me, I'm not really big in to dressing up. Anyway the food was fantastic, the wait staff was great. Bill ended up being $300 and I would absolutely do it again.

Ate at Remy two times (two different cruises in 2015). DH and I don't eat seafood at all. They managed something for us, everything was amazing. The server and chef made sure we enjoyed our food, they even made us an extra dish because I did not like one of them ('cause I'm not a fan of terrines and foie gras).

Both times were the best meals of my life. And I'm picky.

Very comparable to Victoria and Albert's at a much lower price point. We have found the food and service to always be amazing. This cheese course and desserts were equally delicious and they always have homemade lollipops that we take back and give to our DD.

We jump at the opportunity to eat there every time we go on the Dream and we don't mind getting dressed up for mommy and daddy date night because we have so few of them anymore!!
