Relaxation, Disney Style, PTR. ~*TRIP REPORT HAS STARTED! 9/18 Pg. 155*~

All caught up! Now, let's see...

Favorite Pop Century Memory: I think my Mom finding her old poncho in the 60s display in the lobby. She's almost certain it's her's since it was a one-of-a-kind one she hand made. She says it even has the same croocked zipper. She thinks it got sold in a yard sale, so maybe Disney bought it.

Favorite Dessert: I;m a sucker for anything in France like mousse, elciars, and chocolate crepes.

Least Favorite WS pavillion: Maybe Japan or the American Adventure. I do like and enjoy both of them though, but I like the others more.
That is so very cool about your Mom's poncho! What a neat thing to happen.

I like the American Pavilion, I just like the architecture I think. I'm also a sucker for red, white and blue things. I think it's my inner history geek. :rotfl:

I really don't have a lest favorite pavillion so I'm going to go with The Outpost. Why exactly is it even there?
Good call on The Outpost! I don't understand what it is either. To me, it's a beacon when I go from Canada to Mexico that I'm almost all the way done with World Showcase. :rotfl2:

Easy. Italy. No attraction. Lame entertainment. And pizza?? I know I"m going to get flamed for this... but... I know a lot of folks like pizza, but you can get that on ANY corner in ANY city in the US, and people eat it like once a week or at least once a month. :confused3
I thought I'd get flamed for Italy so I'm glad you are with me on it!
I'd have to agree with Marc, my least favorite is Canada. There are only a couple of shops, not a lot to look at... I don't know.... just "blah" to me.

I like your musings (not planning). Isn't having a ticket to MNSSHP like having a hopper for that day? The party ticket gets you into the MK at 4pm or later so in the morning couldn't you use your regular ticket for a different park if you wanted to? That's how I thought it worked but I may be wrong.
I guess Canada is a little blah but I think the garden elevates it for me.

Yes, we do plan to go to two parks on MNSSHP day. Probably Epcot in the morning and MK around 4ish for the party.

Christine you are correct about the tickets and MNSSHP.

I agree with Itlay.....boring (or is there something I'm missing???)

Has everyone seen the new Movie in Canada? I thought it was great and I'm making DH see it this winter.

I'm really glad others think Italy is boring, makes me feel less mean. :rotfl:

I have not seen the film in Canada. So it's worth seeing?

Hmmm least favorite WS pavillion? I'd probably go with the outpost too, but if I have to pick a real pavillion I'd probably go with Germany. No real reason other than the restaurant isn't one of my favorites. Germany is the one WS country I've been to, and maybe I just compare it to the real thing too much. I'm sure I loved it before I actually went to Germany. I also find that there is no nice quiet spot to just relax there and soak up the atmosphere.

Do you have a least favorite WS pavilion?

I don't count the Outpost as a pavilion and, as I really do love at least something about EVERY pavilion (usually relating to the architecture) here's how I group them (seriously, I can never just simply answer your questions):

Only Mildly Interesting: Germany, America (though I love the show), France
More Than Mildly Interesting: Norway, China, Canada
Can I Move In?: Italy (though this may move down a peg once I see the new Napoli area), Japan, Morocco, Mexico, UK

When I first read it somehow the word "least" didn't register in my brain (instead "best' did) and I was all like WAIT a minute... Your two favorite WS Locations are Italy and Canada (not that they can't be LOL, but somehow I knew that wasn't right LOL) So I went back and reread and it all cleared up for me LOL!!

So my least favorite...hmmmm...Probably Germany, I like to look at the outside of it, but I never really spend a lot of time exploring there! Of course the KP mission I did there changed some of that, but still not the most interesting to me.

Another vote for Italy from me...

Easy. Italy. No attraction. Lame entertainment. And pizza?? I know I"m going to get flamed for this... but... I know a lot of folks like pizza, but you can get that on ANY corner in ANY city in the US, and people eat it like once a week or at least once a month. :confused3

... and Liesa, you have summed it up perfectly! :thumbsup2

Least favorite Canada? :snooty:

I love the falls but I've yet to see the movie. Is it still Martin Short? I gotta agree, Italy doesn't do it for me and while I'd like to see Via Napoli, I won't be eating there.

Nice topic you've picked, LL! This one is going to create lots of discussion.

Being Canadian (along with some others I've seen reading here) I can definitely say that the Canadian pavilion sucks. The store could use an overhaul and offer something other than hockey jersey's and maple syrup. That being said, I still like the movie with Martin Short and Le Cellier.

My least favourite pavilion, hands down, is Mexico. Too dark and not much of interest. I like the knock off IASW ride but have no desire to eat there.

Pizza is completely different in Italy. But yes, I do agree you can get pizza at any corner in North America (although we've done pretty good in destroying what pizza truly is) You might want to try "Via Napoli" because they claim to be creating pizza that is as close to what it tastes like in Naples, Italy. (They've even shipped flour from Naples). I've eaten pizza in Naples and this place is going to get a very critical review in my upcoming trip in October!

Hmmmmm dessert: Many times I am too full to have dessert  one reason that I don't ever do the dining plan...I would much rather have an appetizer...I loved the creme brulee at Jiko and really just anywhere :rotfl2: and I also admire, and eat the selections at Starring Rolls, particularly the banana split. I may have had that for breakfast on more than one occasion. ;)
Least favorite WS....I suppose I would have to say Canada...except for Le Cellier of course. :rolleyes1 I guess they might also have my least favorite uniforms for a CM...I don't really look good in plaid. ;)
Ohhhh yes Masterchef....I didn't realize that guy was Lydia's son! Thanks C!! Isn't it wonderful how we are such fans of all of the cooking shows...it will really help with our Distown ventures :lmao:

I feel like I "must" speak on behalf of Italy. :upsidedow And, no, ironically I'm not italian.

I like the variety of shops. There is jewelry (love the murano glass items), perfume, clothes, pottery etc. I have a handpainted platter from there in my kitchen and it always makes me smile.

And (perhaps this is the key) I really love getting a glass of wine and standing/sitting at the outdoor tables and people watching.

At the kiosk outside the pavilion the belllni and italian margarita are not to be missed! :) Oh, and limoncello. :cloud9:

But regardless of individual opinions, that is what makes World Showcase and WDW work... something for everyone! :thumbsup2 And no, I'm not just writing this to get an advantage with those cute waiters. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Whew! All caught up.

Resort – Yacht Club! I get to see it in just over a week!

Counter Service – CHH, can’t wait to try it

I haven’t stayed at POP yet and sadly, gave up our one night there so can’t weigh in on that

Dessert - No Sugar Added Apple Stack - with cinnamon, sour cream and crisp won tons served with sugar free vanilla ice cream. YUM!

Least favorite country. I don’t have a clue! I haven’t explored enough to be entitled to an opinion. REALLY hoping to fix that NEXT WEEK!

I'm telling you -- this time last year, I would have agreed with you about the whole Italy being boring thing, but go eat at Tutto Italia and let those waiters wow you with their beautiful Italian accents, and it will suddenly be your favorite country. :rotfl2: Just saying...:rolleyes1

Now, I have to choose my own least favorite WS country -- I am going to have to go with America. We barely ever even stop there. (Suddenly, I feel like Connor -- "a bit dirty" and unpatriotic. In my defense, though, I love Liberty Square.)

My favorite dessert at Disney has to be zebra domes at Boma

I CANNOT believe I forgot about the Domes. :sad2: They are my favorite! I wish they had them at AK too.

Oops forgot to quote, but back to rice cream....

It's a little like tapioca, but not as slimy. It really is more of a rice texture but with dreamy, dreamy whippy creamy all around it. Maybe a bit like cottage cheese?? But sweeter and lighter.

Is rice cream at all similar to rice pudding? I've had rice pudding and it sounds similar - and its AWESOME.

I saw rice cream at our grocery store today and thought of you Liesa! :goodvibes

35 days! I'm excited, are you?

::yes::

My Least Favorite would be Italy. We always look around and then leave just a few minutes later. I'm actually excited about Via Napoli because it's supposed to be authentic and looks like a very beautiful restaurant! I think it will add to the pavilion. Plus, with my Pizza Loving DH, this will make him very, very happy. :goodvibes LL, sorry to hear about your MIL's voice invading your magical state during the World Showcase! :sad2:

I know I have tentative meets with Brook, MEK and Leisa. Do you any of these match up with what you are doing???

On the 8th we are doing a breakfast, then "Welcome Home Wednesday" (DVC thing) at 4 pm, and PM EMH at AK - so there is time for a meet there! I wouldn't hesitate to stop in over at MK after breakfast...perhaps to share a ride on the CoP or whatevs!

On the 9th we leave, but our flight isn't until 7ish, ME will be at 4ish. So we have time that day too and Epcot is so stinkin' close to the BWV, that could work.

I did the exact same thing! :rotfl2: When LL started talking about her MIL's voice I knew I had read it wrong!

I think we've got this squared away finally. TTA Meet, Sept. 12th. Right?? Time TBA: will connect earlier in week to set exact time- but will be in evening sometime during EMH??

Another vote for Italy from me...

... and Liesa, you have summed it up perfectly! :thumbsup2

Seriously, I thought I was in a for a major flame job with my snarky pizza comments. More on that in a sec!

THey are NEVER going to re-create it very well at Disney! Ever. I have spent some time there, and we ate pizza everyday in Florence, Naples and Verona on the street, and EVERY SINGLE ONE HAD either just cheese or cheese and ANCHOVIES. I highly doubt Americans and Canadians are going to go for the real deal on this. I've said it before, Disney has dumbed down their food to unrecognizable dishes that barely resemble the real thing. Example: Moroccan food is often so spicy you feel it for hours. It's delish beyond words, but just not sale-able to the tastes for bland food amongst its patronage. Norway: They eat cheeses that taste like peanut butter- NOT going to be ordered in the Akershus. China?: Sweet and sour Chicken has never been heard of in Canton or Urumqi. You won't find pickled duck.

Is rice cream at all similar to rice pudding? I've had rice pudding and it sounds similar - and its AWESOME.

I saw rice cream at our grocery store today and thought of you Liesa! :goodvibes

Kind of. It's much lighter being only whipped cream, not a pudding base.

And rice pudding is often flavored with cinnamon, this is not.

:goodvibes

Germany is another one that I don't really explore either, though I do like that Christmas ornament shop.

I love your catergories, they are very interesting!!

I do love the Morocco pavilion, it's so much fun and pretty. You have to love any place that sells Fez hats.

Hmm, my vote for least favorite pav would have to be Italy. It's boring...that's all.....just boring. :confused3
I agree, it's boring.

Totally not right. :rotfl2: The Germany pavilion reminds me of Full House since Danny tried to propose to Vicki there but then the german dancers interupted. :lmao: It's amazing what I remember. :rotfl:

Another vote for Italy from me...

... and Liesa, you have summed it up perfectly! :thumbsup2
She did sum it up very nicely!

Least favorite Canada? :snooty:

I love the falls but I've yet to see the movie. Is it still Martin Short? I gotta agree, Italy doesn't do it for me and while I'd like to see Via Napoli, I won't be eating there.

WOO HOO!!

I'm very interested to hear your review after you eat at "Via Napoli". Marc & I don't really eat pizza anymore, it sometimes is too much for our bands. We lean more towards flatbreads/thin crust if we do indulge.

I feel in touch with the Canada pavilion only because I'm from Maine and I can find much of the same stuff they sell there in Maine. It just lacks some more interesting things I think. :confused3

I love me some appetizers too but cheesecake gets me everytime.

Dessert for breakfast should be mandatory in Disney!

Where you do get that No Sugar Added Apple Stack?? Sounds delish!!

Your trip is getting so close!!

You and Connor and your unpatriotic ways. ;):rotfl2:

I think the best thing for our meet is to call when I arrive so we can see what is going on. How does that sound to you??

Our meet should be good as long as we decide to stick with MK on the 12th. We might change our minds, sorry I am being so difficult. If we do change our minds, we will make something work. I promise. :thumbsup2

my favorite dessert is definitely the chocolate moose at le cellier.
my least favorite pavillion is definitely Norway ... i really REALLY dislike Malestrom!
