Relaxation, Disney Style, PTR. ~*TRIP REPORT HAS STARTED! 9/18 Pg. 155*~

:woohoo::woohoo: for your trip being NEXT month (mine is too :goodvibes)

:yay::yay: for MNSSHP! We're going as well but we're not dressing up. :sad2: I love your costume idea. Very cute. We will be there on the 14th. So far, I've never been able to get Joe to even THINK about dressing up for it though. :sad1:

Resort I'd most like to visit would be:

Animal Kingdom Lodge

DisneySept08035.jpg

I must admit though, my reason is selfish....I want zebra domes! :rolleyes1:lmao:

Joe's favorite counter service:

Before

DisneyMay2009485.jpg

after

DisneyMay2009486.jpg

:lmao:

My favorite CS would have to be Flame Tree BBQ. Sadly, I don't have a picture of it. :guilty:
:lmao: LOVE the before and after pictures!! Too funny.

Which MNSSHP are you going too?

I'd really like to get over to AKL and try Zebra Domes too!

Hurray for getting to go to MNSSHP and dressing up! I think the two of you are going to be adorable as 1950's people!!! Don't worry too much about the ponytail -- remember that hairbands were big back then, too.

Resort I would most like to visit? As in, which one would I like to go explore? Oh, I know -- Kidani! :thumbsup2

Favorite Counter Service? Without a doubt, it would have to be the Cantina de San Angel! Love Mexican food! :lovestruc
I forgot about the hairbands. Hmmm, that might work.

You're going to WDW next month. What a wonderful phrase. :cloud9:

Love your costume idea, sounds adorable! And it will be easy to adapt to any unusually hot or cool weather! :thumbsup2

Favorite resort... don't think I have to answer that one...:rolleyes1

Favorite counter service... hmmm... that's tough for me. Either the taqueria stand in Mexico (not the Cantina but the F&W stand they have kept in place) or Pecos Bills. Oh, I also really like Hurricane Hannah's at the BC. Of course this assumes that one can't count champagne as a CS meal in which case that kiosk would be my favorite. ;)
I'm so excited to say that I'm going to Disney NEXT month!

:rotfl2: Favorite CS can be your favorite champagne...remember I make the rules on this here PTR. :lmao:

I'm going to Disney World next month too!!!

How about some dancing potassium just for us:

I think the costume idea is a great one - very easy! MF and I have yet to discuss if we have enough time to work ours out. Maybe we can talk about it today. If not, 50's costumes...hmmm...SUCH and easy idea...

I may need to "borrow" it from you.

Resort I'd Most Like to Visit? Hm...depends on how you're defining "visit". To "visit" as in to stay at? Easy, the Poly. But "visit" as in to just stop in and wander around? Much harder...I loved wondering around the WL and am looking forward to doing a little of that with BF when we check in for our WCC ADR. I think that resort will be right up his alley. I'd also like to poke around a little more at BC and "visit" SAB. LOL

Favorite Counter Service also has a couple of categories for me:

Favorite Food, Most Choices & Best Quality (My All-Around Fav): Sunshine Seasons
Favorite for a Solo Meal: Flame Tree BBQ
Favorite to Visit with Friends: Casey's
Borrow away!! I would say you could borrow my poodle skirt but it would probably be too big for you!

I'd love to "explore" SAB. That just looks soooo inviting. I'm big on swimming so I think I'd be in heaven.

Sunshine Seasons is a great CS meal! I loooove the strawberry shortcake. Yum.

Love your costume idea! You two are going to be adorable! It's a simple one too that will be comfortable. :thumbsup2 I can't wait for the pictures!

Resort I would most like to visit is All Star Movies! I've never been over to the All Stars, and I know Henry would love seeing "Andy's Room" over there, so it would be magical for me to watch him take it all in. :lovestruc

And Counter Service. CASEY'S! :yay: Of course! CHH is a close second though, love that tuna sandwich.
I saw somewhere online...can't remember where that that All Star Movies has many pictures of Walt receiving his Academy Awards, I'd like to get over to see those pictures. They had a few with the article and they were very nice.

Love the costume idea!! You and Marc are going to be quite the pair I can't wait to see the pictures!!!!!

Hmmmmm resort I would most like to visit....well I have been to quite a few of them....but to really explore I would like to go back and visit up close with the Beach Club/Yacht Club!!!

Favorite CS....I love me some corndog nuggets so I'm going to have to say Casey's....so GOOD!! I love getting those to go as I walk out!!!!

YAY for going to Disney next month...that is so awesome to be able to say!!!!
I can eat corn dog nuggets NEXT month. :yay:

Cute cute cute costume idea LL!! so glad Marc is on board for doing it with you (well, as if he really had a choice ;))

Let's see...so far we have explored the Contemporary, AKL, Poly, Grand Floridian, Boardwalk, CBR and the Beach Club. From there, I guess I'd say maybe the Wilderness Lodge? Blake and I are so into the great outdoors, I think this would probably be the next one we'd most like to explore :thumbsup2
I did give him a few choices and he liked this one the best because I could still dress up and he could dress up minimally.

WL is a great resort to explore!

Resort I'd like to visit: BC/YC and the Poly. We're eating at Cape May Cafe and 'Ohana next month (yea!) so I'd like to explore

Fav Counter Service: Sunshine Seasons is my new fav, but my old fav was Cosmic Ray's. When I traveled with my parents, we always had to eat there.

Love the costume idea!
I remember eating with my parents at Cosmic Ray's too, I think that is the only time I have been there.

Yay! Your getting close! Both DF and I's resort that we would love to stay at is Boardwalk. My favorite CS is Sunshine Seasons and DF's is Pinnochio Village Haus but not for food, for reliving his childhood. lol. I'm not sure if we'll be going there this year as they changed the menu quite a bit. Oh well, if it makes him happy....

~Beka~

I am going to watch Masterchef later today.....I have been catching up on things around the house today and plan to catch up on tv later tonight. I watch all the cooking shows :rotfl2:
Happy you are going to the party and you will have fun dressing up!

Resort I would like to visit....the only one I have never really explored....GF

Favorite counter service....would have to be Starring Rolls or the Patisserie in France....mmmmm mmmm mmmmmm!!!

Tracy
We really liked Masterchef, what did you think of it? I really want Marc to audition for it!

I really want to get over to GF to explore, I keep saying I'm going to do it and then I don't.

I like your costume ideas. Sounds like they'll be fun and not too hot. That's nice of Marc to dress up too- especially in a matching costume.

Resort I'd most like to visit... out of all of them Animal Kingdom Lodge. Haven't been there in a long time and have been wanting to go back. Out of the ones I've never been to before, Old Key West.

Favorite counter service restaurant... I really don't think I can decide! Either the French boulangerie in EPCOT (love to get some quiche or a sandwich, one of the plates of grapes and cheese, and of course a little dessert) or Sassagoula Floatworks at French Quarter (for a muffuletta, jumbo or beignettes)
I really wanted us to be matching, we've never dressed up for Halloween together before so I think it will be fun. Matching costumes just belong in Disney.

I'd like to mosey over to OKW as well, there seems to be a great vibe over there.

Love the costume idea...although you really should have Pluto on your poodle skirt :thumbsup2

Favorite CS??? Yikes, I could never pick! I don't even know if I could break it down by park! But I am fond of the topping bar at Pecos Bill and my new "oh my goodness, there is something else to eat besides Pizza Planet @ DHS" is Starring Rolls.
Pluto would be very cute but as I'm not making it, he won't be on there. :lmao:

I really want to try Starring Rolls, maybe that is where we will make sure to eat at DHS.

I am probably going to start one within the next week but I have NO ideas for a title and that is really what is stopping me.
Post the link over here when you start it. I can't wait!!

Next month does sound rather fabulous!

I really want to visit your POR....

Favorite CS would be the same as Tracy's Starring Rolls or France! Yummo!

I have got to get on the ball and think of costumes for Baylor, Marc and I for the party!!!
Hehehe, I love how you call it my POR. ;)

Oooh, do you have any ideas yet for costumes??

No!! Don't let that stop you!! You know I'd be there in a second!! Please go ahead and start, you can always change your title!!

Now. onto the business at hand...

Resort I'd most like to visit: AKL!! Never been. The good news is that we're doing the AK Trifecta this time- Boma, Sanaa, AND Jiko. So plenty of opportunity there to check it out!

Fav. CS- FTBBQ and Caseys. Sorry it's a tie.
You will have plenty of chances to poke around AKl that is for sure!!

I love your idea for your Halloween costumes. Simple and easy to wear in the parks. I second CP's idea about the headbands, but if you really want to do a ponytail and your hair is not quite long enough try one of those inexpensive clip on ones they sell at drugstores. I did that the year I dressed up as Belle. At night no one will ever notice it's not really you. Mine had a clip to hold it on.
I was thinking about trying to find one of those clip on ponytails. We'll see if I come across any between now and then. It's a good idea.

While Marc & I were making our countdown list for you all, we included a "BEST OF '08" portion, reliving our favorite and not so favorite moments of our 2008 trip.

There are a lot of the '08 ones so I'm going to start throwing them in the mix.

Today we will visit Pop Century and the best thing about staying or our favorite memory.

Marc - room location.
IMG_0354.jpg

We had a preferred room in the 50's. It was a super quick walk to the buses and the main hall. It was really great. Quiet too.

Leslie - beginning of the night swim tradition.

IMG_0449.jpg

I am so looking forward to night swims again, and Pop is where they started. :cloud9:

Those of you who have stayed at Pop, what's your favorite part or memory??

In other Disney news....we received our Magical Express tags today!!

It's real!! We're going to Disney!!! :dance3::yay::dance3:

Question: Do you only receive 2 yellow tags now? We are going to be checking 3 bags. Do you know if I can get another one??

What a cute costume idea! You're going to look fabulous in one of those poodle skirts. Not to mention Marc as a greaser :cool2: Another Ramsey fan, are you? I love his shows. Maybe not so much his American ones i.e. Hell's Kitchen but his British ones are really good. I love the British version of Kitchen Nightmares - it's scary to see the state of some of these restaurants. Makes McDonald's look like a palace  I haven't seen Masterchef yet though.

My favourite CS at MK would have to be Colombia Harbor House. My favourite resort to visit (not to mention to stay) is Wilderness Lodge. :thumbsup2

Whoops! Just saw you updated right after I posted.

My favourite memory when we stayed at Pop Century has to be, hands down, when we stayed there for the first time in 2008. It POURED rain the day I had planned for us to explore the resort and take pictures. We ended up with us all looking like drowned rats in ponchos

Ah, night swimming at Disney!!! Heaven!!! When we stayed at our Pop, my favorite memory was the tie-dyed cheesecake and swimming in in the Hippy Dippy Pool.

Love everything about Pop. too many memories to even try and pick one or two.

You can call Magical Express and they will send you more yellow tags. They have started just sending one per person because so many airlines were charging for each bags that people started bringing less luggage. We have to call every time and get more sent because we each can take 2 bags free flying on Southwest.

WOW I have a lot of great memories at POP!! I'm looking forward to going back there again!! I think what I enjoyed the most was the morning walks near the lake, so pretty! And some day we'll have a new resort across that lake!!

OOOH..Night swims!! Sounds like a lot of fun!

Those of you who have stayed at Pop, what's your favorite part or memory??

My POP "coffee walks". It's so quiet there early in the morning and a great time for picture taking!

I was thinking about this the other day and wondering when we'd get ours. Now I know it's probably just a few weeks away!

Question: Do you only receive 2 yellow tags now? We are going to be checking 3 bags. Do you know if I can get another one??

I don't know the answer to that one but I'd love to. We're only checking two bags on the way down, but what if we have three on the way back???

We love Gordon Ramsey!! We watch them all. Masterchef is really good so far, there are three judges and one I don't like but Ramsey and the other guy are really good.

I need to try CHH again, my meal I had there was less than stellar but I'm willing to try it again.

The tie-dyed cheesecake freaks me out and you know how much I love cheesecake. :rotfl:

I consider Pop to be yours and Memom's resort. It's funny how we DISers associate certain resorts with specific DISers.

I called today and the luggage tags are on their way. :thumbsup2

I never got to take a walk around the lake. We will need to do that in January!

I was surprised when they arrived in the mail, I thought it would be another week.

I have the Magical Express phone #. 1-866-599-0951. It was a 2 minute conversation, he pulled up my ME reservation and said more tags would arrive in about 5 business days!

I heart the Pop! My favorite memory would have to be our scavenger hunt last August. So much fun exploring everything and finding all the fun details. Oh and I love hearing the hustle music if I happen to be around at 6pm! You can't help but dance along.

I want to "steal" your tradition of night time swimming. I cannot wait to stay at the POP. My dd will love it.

Your scavenger hunt was really awesome, such a great idea.

Steal away, it's a great tradition!

I've never stayed at POP, but I spent an afternoon there my last trip. My favorite memory was the vintage 50's looking holiday decorations. I'm a sucker for tacky sparkly Christmas ornaments.

For the ponytails, I know I've seen them at my local Rite Aid, as well as at Sallys. I don't know if they have any of them up your way. I've seen them at a few of the hair salons at the mall that really are just there to sell the products. (The ones where you never really see anyone getting their hair done). I know Jessica Simpson has a line of them.

Steal away, it's a great tradition!

I have always wanted to do that since I read about you doing it on your first tr.

I read someone's tr (I don't remember whose) and they did that with their girls and used the showers in the pool area after because it was easier to use with kids. That way they didn't have to worry about getting the kids all showered in the morning. I thought it sounded like a good idea.

36 days! 36 days!!

Time is just flying by now.

Today we are talking dessert. Specifically the dessert we are most looking forward too. We have the same answer again.

Ghiradelli!

DisneyJan2010Day1andDay2012.jpg

Hideous picture of me, but willing to sacrafice so you can see the Ghiradelli yumminess.

See that little beauty there?

The Haight AshBerry - Very Berry Sundae - strawberry cheesecake ice cream smothered with sliced strawberries under a layer of vanilla ice cream with blueberry topping, whipped cream, our chocolate-covered blueberries and a chocolate dipped waffle roll $7.95

Where else can you get that amount of ice cream-y goodness for $7.95?

It's amazing. It's wonderful. And I will be eating it again. Did I mention it has chocolate-covered blueberries? :upsidedow

It's no wonder Marc is looking forward to trying Ghiradelli since I've been rhapsodizing over this sundae since January.

In the spirit of ice cream fairness, I tried this one as well in January.

The Gold Rush - Peanut Butter Hot Fudge Sundae - Vanilla ice cream with freshly homemade hot fudge and melted peanut butter throughout. Topped with whipped cream, chopped almonds, a cherry and Ghirardelli Squares milk chocolate $7.95

I love me some peanut butter but this paled in comparision to the Haight Ashberry.

I need ice cream...stat!

Today we are talking dessert. Specifically the dessert we are most looking forward too.

Again, I have categories (kind of like you and your lists LOL!):

Favorite "snack" dessert: Dole Whip Float
Favorite "sitdown" dessert EVER: Capirotada de Chocolate Blanco from San Angel Inn. It's white chocolate golden raisin bread pudding served with Mexican milk caramel.

O.

M.

G.

NOM!

Unfortunately I won't have it this trip as we aren't eating there. :sad1:

Favorite "sitdown" this trip: I'm most looking forward to trying the wontons at Yak & Yeti.

That is a great idea to use the pool showers, I bet that would make for a much easier morning.

Your catergories make me laugh. I don't think I've ever had bread pudding of any kind but that Mexico version sounds devine!!

The wontons are very, very good. :thumbsup2

Catching up...

Favorite Pop memory - the Everything Pop store. You could spend a good hour browsing in there. So much to see!!

Favorite dessert- this is tough for me since I don't really have a sweet tooth. I'm going to say creme brulee in Chef's.

Which judge don't you like on Master Chef? I'm in love with all those cooking shows too. You'd think I actually cooked or something. :rotfl2:
