Refillable mug--really want to know

Like I said, I think the refillable mug fights are fun. I very much enjoy watching the SARMP come marching in with their declarations about following rules and I also enjoy watching people say that they don't care and sending the SARMP into a tizzy, especially the posting of "theft" definitions from dictionary.com But my favorite was the woman who really, seriously wanted to call CPS.

Also the people who work for Coca-Cola and can't tell you how they know, but they know that Coke is giving Disney all that pop for free. And the following discussion of how someone else's BIL works for Coke and knows that it costs $.81 for X amount of pop, so that stolen pop has actually cost $.0037 and when you multiply that by all the stolen pop, it works out to $29.99 a year, which means we're paying an extra penny on each stay or whatever.

It's all very amusing.

Without the uniqueness of the RM fights and all the very, VERY stupid fights, the DIS is - IMO - just another Disney site. It's uniqueness is what draws people here, even the ones who don't admit it.

So, that's MHO. But, again, I don't moderate.

Maybe we could make it like Thunderdome. Whoever stays at the keyboard longest and keeps fighting wins. The other is banned.

None of it is as fun as the smoking fights were. That guy who was going to come down to the U.S. and fart on everyone because he was so infuriated by the smokers...the one who posted about his GI symptoms and why his farts would be so bad...was THE BEST EVER.

Don't take the RM fights away. One thread would be okay, though I really prefer they just pop up, but please don't take them away.

ROFL :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

What a unique perspective you bring to this discussion and a refreshing one at that..

I think my entire world view just shifted 4 degrees on it's axis.

Mind = Blown.

Job well done! (seriously)

I have no dog in these "fights", but have always been amused that no one has a picture of the "forever" signage, but a billion people can whip out a "Length of Stay" sign photo. Wonder why that is? :lmao:

Participation on the DIS would suffer significantly without refillable mug threads. It’s a comedy classic! Also, the misinformation about “Disney gets the Coke for free…” is always amusing as well. Keep up the good work! :thumbsup2

I know I have a picture and just spend a good 1/2 hour searching pre digital days through my bin of pictures with no luck. Dang! I so wanted to find it :sad2: When I least expect it, it will show up.

I think they are funny too....my opinion is how can you be so mad about a stupid mug...who cares

My guess is because those were out in the days before the common digital camera. Now a days with digital people take a zillion pictures compared to a few rools, which were precious as you had to pay to devleop them as well. But now you can take all your card/s wil lhold and so people take pics of signs, lamps, toilets...or whatever:love:

I didn't understand this thread, at first (were some posts deleted?), but I get it now. I have a refillable mug, because it came with the dining plan, but I don't drink soda. The mug has come in very handy to use at work instead of the paper and plastic cups they offer in the company cafeteria.

What is "pool hopping"?

Oh, I see. Thanks. I can see where that might start some aggro. I don't think I've used a pool in any of my visits, but I can't imagine bothering to go to the pool at another resort, unless I were visiting someone staying there.

LOL! Some don't imagine like you. When they don't, get yourself some popcorn and sit back and read :). Frankly I never pool hopped but may consider it this time just to see what the big deal is. That volcano pool sounds like the place to go :rolleyes1

I don't agree with bringing back your mugs. I don't care about the cost of the soda. It's just the principal of it. But, I don't consider myself a Mug Cop. I don't even give it a second thought when I see people using old mugs. I do my part and purchase a new mug each trip. I'm faithful to my Mouse!
I'm a little torn about the sticky thing... I'd like to see a sticky and have new threads closed just like any threads about tipping.
However, I'm not going to lie... I'm very entertained by them. I think I'd be a little sad to see the wars come to an end. :sad1:

That's when they knew that Dixie Landings was going to cease to exist in 2000. Since it no longer exists, those "forever" mugs are no longer of any use.
Could be. But when I returned to POR, 18 months later, I did ask. And I was told that I bought those mugs as 'forever mugs' and that's what they were...even though the name was different.

Well...who knew back in '99 that it was going to be an issue. No way was I going to even think of a reason to take a photo of that signage...certainly not when using film vs digital!! But nowadays, you would be surprised with the things I take photos of....just in case!!

You know...I don't think it's an issue of Coke..whether it's free or not to Disney. I truly believe it is more of a cost of the mug itself that Disney loses out on. At $14 per mug, a family of 4 would be spending an addlt $56 or so on each trip. Multiply that by thousands and you have a substantial loss. I don't think there are all that many returning guests that bring back their mugs. Sure, we all notice it when it happens because, well..it's a popular subject here. The vast majority of guests, especially those first time visitors, buy the refillable mugs and use them as Disney rules state.

I just don't see it as a huge issue. Again, if (and when) Disney beleives it to be an issue, they will change it. I just can't be bothered bringing them back and forth with me anymore.

One other thing is don't always assume people are "refilling" an old mug. I might be odd, but last year I bought 2 new mugs for DH and I. But DD drinks mostly milk and juice. I borught our mug from the previous year for her. I also brought a few straws. At the airport we bought drinks and I poured hers into the old mug to drink so she didn't spill. I also put her milk and juice in it while at the resort and parks. So it may look like she was cheating the system, but she wasn't. I will admit though that one night while eating at Epcot, DH's mug was stolen off our stroller. When we came back to the resort, he did use the old mug to get something to drink to take back to the rooom. The next day I told the people at the Pop Food Court about it being stolen and they replaced it.

Whats sad is someone stole our mug! :scared1: and a straw out of another fast food type cup we had on the stroller. Kind of gross when you think about that. :confused:

Ok - legitimate newbie question.

So, let's say I'm staying at AKL, and I buy a refillable mug. Am I only allowed to refill it at AKL, or an I bring it with me to the parks and refill it there too?

Unfortunately there is no place in the parks to refill your mug. Only at the resorts.

People bringing back refillable mugs from past years is the main reason Disney can't afford to show Fantasmic every night. Looking for someone to blame for HS crowds? Well, there you go.
