One Coronado Springs "forever" mug for sale ....:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: k~i~d~d~i~n~g

Disney could solve this right here and now by having free drink refill stations like Holiday World in Indiana ... I'm just sayin' ....

(phew, I crack myself up.)

:hippie: Peace

Agreed! Yay for free soft drinks at Holiday World!:thumbsup2
Now, as for Disney ever considering something like that...:rotfl:...don't we wish! Well, you can always have a nice cup of the Beverly! :)

People bringing back refillable mugs from past years is the main reason Disney can't afford to show Fantasmic every night. Looking for someone to blame for HS crowds? Well, there you go.

Why doesn't anybody take me serial? :rotfl:

Oh and one last thought: I love the look of the Resort specific mugs... its a shame they stopped doing that...

the main resason they discontinues the resort specific mugs is the prevelance of split stays.

this hasn't been mentioned yet (in this thread).

we (more often than not) stay at 2 dif. DISNEY resorts in one trip. (and have stayed at 3) we each purchase a mug for the length of stay. if we are staying on disney property for 12 days, we use the same mug for the 12 days..
NO, it does not matter if 6 days are at POP and 6 days are at POR. disney encourages you to do this. try out more expensive resorts. maybe you can't afford 12 days at the more expensive resort, but can swing 6 and 6. they even transfer your luggage for free.
it is not stealing to purchase a mug for your trip, and use it for your entire trip.:confused3.. even if you stay 14 nights at 7 dif resorts! (2 nights each, although that would be crazy, you could do it).

sorry, mods, but had to mention it.

If, the time we stayed at a value, a mod, and a deluxe, anyone thinks we should have purchased 3 mugs each for that one trip, they are nutz!:rolleyes1

Resort specific mugs were discontinued because it's cheaper for Disney to buy one style mug for all of the resorts.

The mug issue, and threads will go away when Disney puts the new RFID system into place.

I use my own mug at Holiday World if I remember to bring it. Splashin Safari is great!

... taking a crock pot to cook in your room...

Wait a minute! There are people that bring crock pots to cook in? I never would of thought of that, ever! Not because I don't think it is right but because I would think it would be a hassle. Why would it not be right anyway? Is there something saying you can't bring them into your rooms.? I have been there 12 times in the last 10 years and can't remember seeing anything about it. What if you have a family suite at the Value Resorts? I mean you do have a kitchenette. I've just never heard of such a thing as bringing your crock pot to Disney with you.

As far as the refillable mugs... the first ones we bought we were assured that we could use them till the end of time if we wanted... I know they have different rules now but we still bring ours back and buy news ones every other year or so because they start to fade and paint chips on them. Now here is my problem... I pay for my room and my tickets, which is a lot for a single parent to come up with sometimes, and I did originally buy the ones I was suppose to get to use forever... so what is the big deal about me bringing them back?? I mean Disney gets the soda free so how is it stealing? I stay at the same resort every year, yes a value one(that's all I can afford to go every year), and we aren't excessive in our consumption of soda. We get one, maybe two drinks, with our meals we eat at the resort. Plus we buy new mugs every couple of years. I don't see the big deal with it. My problem is the people who fill their room cups up, Big Gulp cups, mugs from Universal... the people who don't even HAVE Disney mugs. If we stay on grounds every year, buy the mugs from the resort we always stay at, Disney gets the soda free, buy all our food at Disney, and are spending freely in the parks why shouldn't we get a little perk of not having to buy a new mug every year???

Therefore people who bring their mugs back year after year are in fact stealing from Disney.

How are you stealing from Disney if Disney doesn't even pay for the soda? They get it free from Coke. It states this in one of the other threads on this same worn out issue. I believe it stated, but I might be wrong, that Coke gives them the fountain soda in order to be the sole provider of the bottled soda in the parks. In reality I guess you are stealing from Coke, but not Disney.

As far as I know, the staff required to maintain the beverage machines, to clean the areas and sell the products are not free for Disney.

Then it MUST be true. :lmao:

But WDW is already paying them a salary so it's not like they are being paid extra to clean the drink machines, refill them with ice or change the syrup if some of the drinks don't taste good.

But they still need to pay their salaries to maintain the area. If they didn't have the refill areas, they wouldn't need to staff to maintain them.

So are you trying to say they hire Cast Members just to maintain the area of the drink stations, because in all the counter service locations I have been to I have never seen Cast Members hanging around there making sure it's clean and etc.

Even if Disney doesn't pay money for the soda, they're still paying for it. The contract giving Coke exclusive access in exchange for the fountains and syrup is incredibly valuable. Besides, buying the cup under the stated terms (i.e., that the cup is refillable for free for the duration of the stay) is a contract, so bringing the cup back on subsequent visits is breaching the agreement. Whether or not Disney chooses to enforce the agreement is up to them.

No, I'm saying they wouldn't need any staff to clean an area that didn't exist if they eliminated the self service areas. They could reduce the number of staff needed for the entire food service area. But as long as they have this area, someone has to clean it up, stock the area, etc.

Kind of like if guests at WDW weren't such pigs at some times, they wouldn't so much staff to clean up after them. But as long as guests still drop their garbage anywhere like, leave their garbage on the tables of the counter service areas, they need enough staff to pick up after the guests.

I know they don't hire staff only to take care of the self-serve beverage areas.

When you reduce the work load, you don't need as many staff to work.

Well when you mention how it costs them money to maintain the machines, if they were to break down WDW already has maintenance Cast Members who would fix them and they don't get paid extra for fixing them.

If the maintenance staff didn't have to maintain them, again, that would be less work. Less work = less staff.

But like all working things eventually they need to fixed, however since WDW already has hired a lot of maintenance Cast Members they are getting paid for other things and I am sure there is the odd time when they need to fix the drink machines.
