Okay, I looked at the locked refillable mug question and have this question that I truly want to know.

We've stayed in Disney every other year in the 2000's and gotten mugs that I could've sworn that they said we could use for lifetime each and every time we would stay at that resort. We don't have them any more, cause they looked like crap and I've pitched, but that isn't the case? They have expiration?

Years ago there were mugs that had no expiration, I am not sure what years those where available. For quite awhile, the mugs are can be refilled for that stay only. So yes there is an "expiration" date per se.

Yes, they used to sell them for lifetime use (resort specific). That has not been the case in some time...

A Very Modest Proposal:

Can all the veteran posters on the board all just agree to the let the mug thing go? That means not posting intentionally inflammatory remarks and also .. on the other side, not overstating Disney's lazy approach to the whole thing.

Sincerely. I have posted hundreds of times that, at the end of the day, it's Disney's problem to act on and they have refused to act => so can we just state the policy and leave it be rather that starting world war three on the boards every single time the topic comes up?

Its tiring. Very tiring.

And it creates a lot of work for moderators which leads to hard feelings (see above) and for what?

A 50c plastic mug which may or may not be filled with 3c worth of bought or "stolen" soda?

Really?

Is this the best use of our collective Disney knowledge? Our time?

Its frustrating to see the same thing argued about literally hundreds of times. And yes, before anyone says, that's part of the moderator gig.

But it's even more frustrating when it's such a completely pointless argument with no end in sight ... nor will there be, til Disney decides to act on it.

And frankly, I see this one as somewhere about 3 notches down from the reopening of Pleasure Island on Disney's 'to do' list.

It's Disney's problem. Can we all just let it be THEIR problem? They don't seem to care about it.

WHY SHOULD WE?

WHY SHOULD WE?

Because people SHOULD care. People SHOULD do what is RIGHT.

The OP asked a good question which was clarified and answered.

As a moderator why did YOU stir the pot? :confused3 :lmao:

:rotfl: I laughed when I saw the question and was about to move on when you had to ask.....

Later,
Dan

I second that, CanadianGuy. :goodvibes Couldn't there just be a "refillable mug" and "pool hopping" sticky with the Disney rules (or lack of rules)? It seems like sometimes people honestly need/want an answer, but half the time they don't get it...they just get people eating popcorn.

thanks--glad to know that we weren't getting old-timers:goodvibes

Sounds like you're getting a little burned out on the resort mugs...

We can talk about pool hopping if you'd like...

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm............ a lot of legitimate information could be considered "sarcastic" to some.:confused3

I have read on here from other posters who say the mugs which were sold with no rules written on them are the ones which were good on all future visits, so if guests had them and wanted to bring them back then technically they wouldn't be doing anything wrong.

No, we can't let it be their problem. They may not care, but we must. Because it is theft, dontcha know. If only these people would post their names and addresses so that we could call CPS and have their children taken away from such horrible parents! And it costs us money!!!!! And it is just WRONG and we need to tell people that they're doing the wrong thing...and we need to tell them that we do NOT do the wrong thing!

;)

I personally love the refillable mug fights. I always have. I don't always participate, but I love to read them. I especially like it when people post the dictionary definitions of "theft" and "steal." Also the comments about taking people's children away. :)

I bring my own Diet Cherry Pepsi to WDW and have purchased exactly one refillable mug - to bring home and use to store markers, back when they had the big ones.

I have no dog in the fight, but it is just too fun to watch the SARMPs (self-appointed refillable mug police) come out in force.

I've been DISing for almost 10 years and have yet to read a RMFight that I didn't enjoy.

But I don't have to moderate. Gotta suck. Sorry.

You could easily stop all the debate about refillable mugs.
We all know it's against board policy to discuss ways to cheat Disney or get around their rules. I never understand why so many flaunt here their disrespect for policy and are not stopped. Give infractions each time they brag and encourage rule breaking.
That should save mods a lot of time and make the boards more pleasant for all of us.

But as a long time visitor you should be aware that before the mugs actually had the rules printed on them, there were signs posted over the refill stations and over the stack of mugs that guests would buy that stated the rules about them only being good for the length of your trip at that resort for that stay only. I know that was the case in 1997 at Captain Cook's at the Polynesian when we bought our first mugs.

Well I hope you understand when I stayed at the Contemporary and Wilderness Lodge during the late 1990's and early 2000's, I didn't see any signs like you mentioned. The only thing I remember seeing was signs on their drink machines saying the mugs could be brought back on future vacations and the Cast Members said the same things when purchasing them. So I am just reporting what I saw at the time and what I was told.
