I'm looking for recommendations for a good slimming swimsuit (size 12 – 14) :beach: that's priced under $75 doesn't look like something my grandma would wear!

Any suggestions?

I'd have a look at lands' end... they have nice prints (mostly non-grandma looking, imo).. and i love how they fit me. I'm on the small side, but even so, I still have a hard time finding a suit that fits in other brands (I'm modest).

Not sure how easy it's going to be to find one under $75 though... seems as if bathing suit prices have gone up and up.

In fact, I just bought one last week.... with a 30% coupon code, and still ran about $80... but I LOVED how it fit me at Sears, and knew I could get a discount of some type online, so waited till I got home to order it.

Woman's Day and Family Circle this month both have articles on swimsuits for various body types, including some reasonably-priced ones.

I got one from Lands End that I liked last year. Also pretty much any department store and Target have swimsuits that are made with the slimming material. I saw a Spanx suit at Target yesterday that i would have tried on if I wasn't pregnant. I think you'll just have to try a bunch on to see which style you like better. (Some have halter tops, some spaghetti straps, others thick straps, open back, more covered back, etc..)

Another vote for Lands End here. If you're well endowed, they also have suits you can order by bra size. I think their suits are modern, modest, classic, and durable so worth the investment.

ITA about Lands End. I just bought another suit because of the email I received from Lands End with a 30% off code and free shipping on "Beach Living" merchandise, promotion code OCEAN and PIN 5010.

I hope this helps you.

I got a great one from old navy . com with a 30% coupon cost me about $33 orig $45 looks great its a one piece but gives the illusion of a tankini! not grandma ish at all ! I love it!

I like Lands End. I also like that you can return if it doesn't fit at any Sears store. i've taken to ordering 2 or 3 sizes of something and returning what doesn't fit.

That said, my last swimsuit was purchased at Sears when they had a great sale.

I just got a new suit at Kohls. They had a lot of styles to mix and match bottoms and tops. I ended up with a skirt-type bottom and a tankini top that has wide straps, good coverage, and a lot of the back covered up. I had to try on a lot of combinations, but finally found a good one, and the whole thing was $45.

Now, if money is no object, both Amazon and Zappos sell the "Miracle Suit" (there are physical stores that sell these, as well, but I'm not sure which ones -- likely better department stores) which is supposed to be very slimming and flattering, but most cost around $150. I looked hard at a couple, but couldn't justify it.

I LOVE my Lands End swimsuit that I got last year before our September trip. I got it for a steal(clearance) but it looks amazing on and I love the color.

Kohls has a few. Plus if you order online you can use the 30% off code for a great deal! I am gonna order a few to try on this weekend.

Yes, Lands End is great. If you have a lot of patience, you may be able to piece one together from the swimsuit clearance on their site. I bought one for $11 (top was $6 and bottoms were $5). Also picked up two more for $15--not sure I'll keep both--but three Lands End suits for $41 can't be beat.

I also like It Figures on QVC. I was able to get some for $1-$5 at a sample sale a while back.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I actually found a few pieces that I ordered from Lands End's clearance section. The really great thing is that I had enough Shop My Way rewards points to pay for the whole order!

Plus I was able to pick up a few suits at Newport News for less than $25!

It is absolutely ridiculous what they charge for swimsuits these days. I can't believe they want $100 or more for many of these suits. It isn't like there is tons of fabric or design that goes into these. So many of them are very similar styles that have been around forever!

That's great! I just got my three LE suits and they are very nice. I go to the pool a lot, throughout the year, so I like having a few, but I hate spending much on them. The pool and hot tub at the Y are very harsh on the fabric, even with proper care and rinsing. Anyway, enjoy!

A big word of THANKS to everyone for their suggestions! I received both of my orders today and I love all my new suits!!! My favorite is a one piece that I got from Land's End that was only $10!

All together I paid less than $30 and I have 2 one-piece suits, 4 bathing suit bottoms (which I can use with a top I had from last year) plus a super comfortable pair of pants!
