Any recent cruisers use Avis and want to tell about your experience? I read the thread about the first few times after Avis moved to the new location. And, I read that Shirley talked with the manager about all the new busses and the problems with the computers.

Has anyone used them recently? I'm booked in 4(!) weeks and I don't want it to be a mess.

Thanks.

We used Avis for our August 16th drop off and pick up on August 23rd. There shuttle seemed to be slower than Hertz or Budget. When we got to the office to pick up the car, it was ready and there was a very small line (2-3 people in front of us). I would check Dave's site for his recommendations. We had booked with Avis for our upcoming WOnder cruise in November and changed to Budget because we were able to get a bigger car for less money than Avis.

Do you remember the code you used with Budget? It is pricing a lot more for my 1 day. I'm picking up on Friday and dropping at port on Saturday.

On my return, I'm picking up on Saturday and dropping at MCO on Sunday.

Thanks.

I used Avis for drop off on 8-23 and pick up on
8-30, both Saturday's ran rather smoothly for me. The office building is small and was quite crowded both weeks, but the service was quick and efficent, I was out in about 15-20 minutes both times. The return on Saturday 8-30, I had to change my reservation and put it in my mom's name, since I lost my glasses on CC, I wasn't able to drive. It only added a few minutes to the time spent in the office, but we were in our way in no time to Dixie Crossroads for my "Rock Shrimp." Luckily, I didn't need my glasses to eat, LOL!!!

Go to Sears.com and follow their link to rental cars. It will automatically put in the code in the Budget box when you input your info. This was less than going directly to the Budget website.

We only used Avis from port to airport but found them to very efficient on 8/23.

The shuttles did not seem to run as frequently as the Hertz and Radisson buses but I was very surprised by the number of people and bags that they were able to transport.

When we arrived at the office, they had 3 employees working at the desk. Another employe got the cars from the backlot and brought them to the front. By the time DH was finished with the paperwork, the air conditioner had cooled the car down nicely. The attendant even helped us load our bags into the trunk and gave us directions to get us on our way.

I liked the fact that with Avis, you can return your car right at the airport. It made heading home a little less painful.
