Believe me, I was shocked to see the email because we never receive these types of invites either!

I wonder who qualified for the invite. Was it just VGC owners or was it offered to DVC members at random?

I wish non-members would get invites with incentives offered. Seems like it would be good at getting new business for them.

I got it too! (Miracle) I already own at VGC, and live west-ish (NM) if that made a difference.
I've never been invited to anything before so this should be interesting.

What a nice treat. If you can't make it to the opening, I would think this would be the next best thing. Or at least better than nothing. I am really curious what will be shown and would like to see it myself.

We got it last night and signed up right away. Crazy thing is, we are going to be in WDW in two weeks and are seriously considering adding on points for the GCV. The webcast will be going on while we are at the Boardwalk.

As to who is getting the invite, we live in New Mexico and visited Disneyland a couple of months ago, taking the tour of the GCV. We already own points at the BWV so are not new members. This is the first time we've ever received an invitation to anything like this.

I can't wait to see what the incentives will be.

We bought 250 VGC at an event at DL earlier this year and we received it too.

One would think that if they are going to announce incentive packages - especially if they are better that what I got ( almost guranteed if history proves out ) - that they would focus on non-owners???

I'm still going to watch though.

We got this too. We own at VWL and live in Colorado. We have never toured VGC or expressed any interest in it. So to me it sounds like this offer went out to residents of the western US who are already DVC owners.

I agree with FoodLover. We own at BCV (bought two contracts via resale), live in Colorado, and have never expressed an interest in GCV, but we got the email invite also. I'll be interested to see what they show us in the Webcast! We did go to DL in 2008 and held annual passes for that year, so we did have a recent visit there. Maybe that was a factor.

I think it's being targeted based on home addresses of west coast members as it's been several years since we went to Disneyland. (We've never been passholders there, stayed at a Disney hotel, or expressed an interest in owning points at VGC.)

Not exactly the same thing, but we are staying at GC opening weekend, and I am excited to see the Villas. I have already seen the models.

We are at GC, not the villas though. (we are DVC members, BCV)

I will try and stick my head in front of the camera during the podcast, lol!

Was there a webcast for the opening for BLT?

BLT had three web cast events in early June, but none for the opening. Each of the BLT webcast supposedly had 2000 participants.

So what was shown? A preview of the lobby, rooms, etc.? Was there special guests and speakers?

I received an invite, too, and I am not a DVC member, though I do live on the West Coast. I participated in the BLT webcast-it was a fairly nicely done sales pitch, some video of the resort, talk about other benefits, and then some incentives announced at the end. Entertaining, and you got a cool package in the mail when you registered-a notebook, Mickey ears, Mickey confetti, a mousepad....

Wow That sound neat. The package must have made it extra exciting. So it was like a DVC DVD you get when you inquire about purchasing. Only it focuses on just one Resort. My guess is that the BLT webcast was a big hit, the powers that be decided to have one for the opening of VGC.

We received the invite too. In fact, we'll be @ WDW on the day we signed up for it so we'll be watching it from there! Last year we called to get information about DVC & were sent the Dreams book so I think we're totally on the list of possible buyers!
