Received invite to view webcast for VGC!

I was disappointed that they did not have more for new members. I got the link from my sister to signup but I was not aware of this being a member only event. I had left a message with my guide asking for info before hand but he does not call me back for anything. For AKV it was $12 off per point.

I was disappointed in the Webcast, didnt show enough of the resort.

It would have been great to see more of the facilities.

I couldn't agree more! The pics people are posting here on the boards are MUCH better!!! At least I like the free pin from the package...

You are right, the webcast had half of the information that I would have like to have seen. And to make matters worse, we didn't even get our package!

I wasn't very impressed with the webcast either -- the poor guy kept having a hard time with his lines. Also, am I the only one that thinks DeeVee Cee is annoying? I know it's supposed to be cute...but I think the character has run it's course (for me anyway).

Thats disappointing I hoped they would have a good deal for new members on AKV points.

I was expecting something very very different from the webcast...
Me too.

Agreed.

Definitely. I think she needs to be retired.

I was quite disappointed in the lack of new footage around the resort. I was hoping to see video of the pool area, or the transition space from the lobby to the new wing, or the viewing platform, or a grand villa, or, or, or.... instead we got to see the model rooms, the lobby and the driveway entrance... all stuff experienced in person previously. I've definitely found better stuff on line here on the DIS and elsewhere. I'm now wishing I had just gone to bed instead of staying awake for that presentation. Oh well - that's an hour I won't get back.:lmao: I was at least hoping there might be some attractive incentive in the 50-75 range that might get us to crack open the wallet...but not last night. My wife was thankful. :rotfl2:

Well Dee was ok in small doses..much smaller would have been better. All in all, not very polished for a Disney presentation. Cool prizes though, congrats to those who won!
I also had expected a video tour of the resort, and thought it focused too much on other things, like Hawaii and other locations for getaways.
Still, I'm glad they are doing these things..step in the right direction!
Also disappointed (and relieved) they didn't offer any incentive at all for under 125. I don't need 125 more points.

Are the incentives for the 3 selling now or limited? What are the current prices?

Of coruse, it was pretty funny that he keep trying to say the name of the company with which DVC has a timeshare exchange arrangment and keep starting with "I"! He did eventually pronounce RCI correctly. -- Suzanne

I don't know, overall it just seemed like something you'd see on the late-night movie channel, not the slick production I was expecting. But what the heck, it's not like I had to buy admission or anything...so no big deal. (However, I honestly don't think they'll get the response they were expecting as far as add-on contracts.)

These incentives are only for VGC (add on prices only).

These were the special promos offered through the webcast for current members:

125 pt add-on, get $19 per point discount
160 pt add-on, get $20 per point discount
200 pt add-on, get $21 per point discount
250 pt add-on, get $21 per point discount plus $500 gift card
320 pt add-on, get $22 per point discount plus one night in the Mickey Mouse Penthouse
500 pt add-on, get $22 per point discount plus two nights in the Mickey Mouse Penthouse

Although they try to rev you up to purchase during the webcast, my guide called me today and said these offers would be good through October 3.

Doing the math, the 250 pt add-on is the best deal, since the gift card works out to an additional $2 per point discount... net $23 per point discount.

Here's a comparison on the rates:

The prewebcast for September 2009 rates per DVC News are:

Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel****

$112 per point 25-49 points

$112 base price less $15.00 promotional discount; 50+ points

Special Offer 1: $500 Disney Visa Reward Dollars for purchase using Chase Disney Visa card; offer expires 9/15/09

Special Offer 2: Two free adult Annual Pass vouchers for every 160 points purchased; note discount drops from $15 to $10 per point with this offer

Then back in August 2009 (this rate really tempted us) it was:

$112 for 25 - 49 pts.
$96 for 50 - 99 pts.
$90 for 100 - 124 pts.
$88 for 125 or more pts.

Wow, I guess the webcast offer for 250 points is pretty good, but the summer offer that ended September 1st was better. Nice perks (the penthouse stay) for the large add ons, but you can't say that really lowers your cost of purchase.

:confused3 I just don't see that the webcast really gave any better deals, especially since in August you got a $24 discount for 125 or more.

Was there any discount offer for 50 - 99 pts. on the webcast?

:wizard:Thank you! That's Awesome info!:teacher:

I was also hoping for more views of VGC itself. Like an idiot I sat through everyone's "memories" at the end-that was a full 15 minutes of our time! I already bought add'l points too so wasn't really expecting a deal that would make me want more and since we only registered the day before, who knows if we'll get a package. At least I learned something- I didn't even know there was a MM penthouse for rent. How much $$ does it cost per night?---Kathy

I felt sorry for him, and DW kept shaking her head @ DeeVee and asked me to turn the volume down... In fact, she decided to go to bed about halfway through it and was playing a game on her laptop while I watched it from my desktop!

You weren't the only one who listened through that hoping there was something worthwhile coming up, uh, like a TOUR of VGC!!! Ugh. We stuck with our current points (160 BLT, 50 VGC, not much I know...), no new purchases from this Geek for now.

ack! I was signed up for last evenings podcast & I forgot to sign on! I had such a crappy afternoon, that I forgot! At least I received the promotional mailing. (Pin, stationery & yeah - the thinnest mousepad!)

DH & I own at SSR & are finally going there in December. We've always used our points to stay at the Grand, and once at the Disneyland Hotel. So, now, if we can't get into the Villas at the Grand, I guess we'll be staying at the Disneyland Hotel. I don't think we can handle more points & it doesn't make $$$sense to sell our SSR & buy VGC.
