Hello fellow readers!

I thought I would start the annual thread to discuss what we read in 2026. I always get many good book recommendations from these threads! Feel free to post your goal for total number of books you would like to read as well.

I had a goal of 32 books for 2025, and wound up being one book shy of my goal. For 2026, I am going to set my goal as 32 books again.

Happy reading!

Like you I was one shy of my goal-my goal was 56, I read 55. But unlike you, I'm making my 2026 goal the same as my actual from last year. So for 2026, my goal is 55 books.

I've been an avid lurker on this thread for a few years but this year I want to try to jump in and join along :)

I set a Goodreads goal of 75 Books for 2026. I read 73 books in 2025 so just more or less hoping to stay on that same path.

Right now I am reading The Friendship Fling by Georgia Stone. Its more or less a 'fluff' read to me and it's okay in my opinion - but this is the second time I've had it checked out with Libby and I'm still only at 60% read with 3 Days left. Hopefully I can do some power house reading this weekend :) It's obviously not pulling me in very quickly overall.

Reading Bruce feiler walking the Bible for the 4th time... not a study guide or inspiration book but a fantastic travel thru culture book..

Up next Monogamy a novel by sue Miller....has a deep secret.... I like novels with secrets... but my goal is 30 between June and October that is when I hibernate in Yuma

I have fantastic library access and no fines for late 📚 📚 📚 books

Most of the reading I do is on my Kindle app and is from Kindle Unlimited and are completely fluff books normally involving witches. If I am counting those then I read a lot, like 2 books a week but I almost don't want to count those. So my goal this year is to read 15 physical books.

If there were any books I wanted to read, I guess I would be more motivated. I did a lot of searching when I put my Christmas list together and there was nothing out there. I have a lot of friends who have written books. I have read most of those, but not a fan of novels. I did read one book in 2025 and it was a novel and it was sooooooooo strange, it reminded me of why I don't read novels.
I can check out lots of books for free from the library, and I have the Kindle App on my tablet.

I have a Kindle and would read more if the Kindle books weren't so expensive. I picked up several John Grisham books at the thrift store, so I will start with them after I finish the James Patterson series I'm reading. I'll set a goal of 20 for the year and see how it goes.

I'll go for 24 this year.
My bookshelf is empty, planning to stop by my counties headquarters library tomorrow & see what I can find.
I'm lucky to have a great public library so close.

You all are such high achievers! I used to read voraciously, and got away from it. I am glad you started this thread and want to join in. I am going to put a conservative 12 - one per month. Hopefully, I will more than double that.

1/32 - Away from the Manger by Jeff Dixon

Description:
"Away from the Manger plunges readers into the heart of Christmas at Walt Disney World in Florida. An ancient relic is missing, and hope is nowhere to be found, until Grayson Hawkes steps in. This Dixon on Disney Adventure is a novella that features the characters from the Dixon on Disney fictional series. Pack your sleigh and get ready to save Christmas in an epic adventure that carries you from a basement in Cairo, to the Magic Kingdom of Walt Disney World, and to Walt Disney's Hometown. Christmas can't be lost and hope must be saved."

My first read of the year was a short Christmas novella set mostly at Walt Disney World. I enjoyed it, although it could have been edited better. There were a few typos and grammatical errors.
