Thanks for your thorough post. Curious about how you did this part...A Minute or so before 8am made sure app didn’t sleep (so your session with the server stays active)

I have my phone set to "auto-lock" after 5 minutes. That allows me to keep my app open without worrying the screen will turn off on me. I'm thinking that's that they mean. Thanks for your thorough post. Curious about how you did this part...
Adding:Our day so far:
6:45 - out of our Little Mermaid room
6:58 - loading into bus
7:01 - out to DHS
7:15 - through bagless scan
7:18 - through ticket tap stiles on the right
7:18-7:50- Tried to find 4 bars on TMobile. Moved around to about 5 different places. Settled by Frozen, where it stayed mostly 4 bars.
7:59:50 - launched app
8:00:05 - find out more
- Join Boarding Group was NOT red.
- Clicked My Status. Join Boarding Group was active.
BG 22! I did it, thanks to all!
Now waiting for them to start boarding. Got breakfast at Docking Bay.
I had the same issues with version 5.8 but now much faster with version 5.8.1
Congrats!Today is our last park day and we decided to give RotR one more ride. My wife, who apparently is some sort of BG Jedi, got group 8. She has also pulled 5& 4 this trip. She is on a iPhone 11 and presses the RotR picture in the app@8(using my I watch as a countdown). Join boarding group is red every time. I did the same today and it was red but I think I was slower adding my party.
IDK, CM are working long hours as it is. I’m sure some would appreciate the OT but they have real lives too. Not saying you, but seems many guests tend to forget it. Cannot imagine the number of frustrated to down right verbally abusive people they deal with on a daily basis. Kudos to them!I wish they would do longer hours to have more people happy and less people frustrated, until crowds are less and the kinks worked out hopefully. Not sure when they will ever go to Fastpass, it would be a disaster right now

I did this early January. Has it updated again since?I just deleted my app and re-installed is it's loading much faster. Anyone with Iphone issues might give it a try.
Thank you for thatTake it for what it’s worth. 3 tries:
(1) 2/8 - stopped at little mermaid theater on way to TSL. In park at 720am. 3 phones. Layered them. First opened at 759:30, second at 759:45 and last at 759:50. Last phone got in first and BG 46. First phone iPhone 7 on us cell, second iPhone 11 on is cell. Last phone iPhone 11 on Verizon. All on data.
(2) 2/11 - stopped at bathrooms on way to TSL. Arrived in park at 730 (go figure). Same process. The first phone (759:30 iPhone 7) got it with BG 90.
(3) 2/14 - arrived in park at 732am. Behind little mermaid theater. Same process for first two phones. I opened app at 759:00 and then went to home screen. At 759:50 reopened app. Counted to 10. Hit my status and got in. BG 22. I was at the restrooms going into TSL as I had a little one with a headache and was trying to be out of the crowds. the guys next to me starting refreshing at 758 and never got a red button.
Yes the picture of the ATAT. I think it’s the same as pressing the find out more button. I have always been trying from the my status button to start.Congrats!
Picture in the app as in located above “find out more” button?
It's so easy to feel like they're making this mess on purpose
It would not surprise me if they are intentionally throttling back capacity in an attempt to artificially suppress demand. People will hear how difficult it is and give up...like the restaurant that nobody goes to anymore because it's too crowded.
I can tell you 100% this is not the case. Practice today went better than yesterday. I had the app open at 7:55 on front page. At 8:00:02 I pressed "find out More". I went to the next page... "Join boarding group" was not lit up. But I pressed "My Status"... It went to the next page and it said the dreaded "You can't join any boarding groups at the moment".. (by then it had to be 4 seconds past 8 am) So I backed out of the page, back to the home page and tried again. This time, going through the steps, I was able to select my group for a BG. However, it was at least 15 seconds after 8 when I finally got to the page to select BG's. Had I been in the park, I would have gotten a BG today but it would have been in the higher numbers.
These glitches and inconsistencies cause me concern and anxiety. I guess it is just the nature of this whole process of getting BGs and computers and what not. The best I can do is be prepared for glitches.. hope for the best but be prepared for the worst.
i think they are trying to manage capacity and expectations to exactly what they can handle, especially on what should be a very busy weekend. Personally, I would far rather not have a backup boarding group at all and know for sure I am not riding than to have a backup and wait around all day, when they know they will get 70 (or whatever) groups in and not one more.It would not surprise me if they are intentionally throttling back capacity in an attempt to artificially suppress demand.
