Thanks for posting. Note: The VQ isn't opening until official park open now, so the ability to start the process won't be available when entering unless entering after official park open now.
Oh no really? Monday I was able to select guests for the virtual que, it wouldn't let me get a boarding pass, but it would let me get "all my ducks in a row" before entering the park. I don't know why they'd get rid of it, but you know they change things on the fly all the time at Disney as I certainly know! haha.

There must be something wrong today with the app sensing you in the park. It is willing to let me join a backup boarding group from PA....
I saw that too. I went through the steps, but then at one point it could tell I wasn't in the park and didn't allow me to continue joining the boarding group unless I took off those ineligible in my party....which was everyone lol.

Nope.
It's been doing that. If you hit join boarding group, it asks for who is in your group. You go to the next screen and it reminds you that you need to be in the park and prevents you from actually joining.

Left room at BWV at 605
Arrived at security at 615 and when right through.
In line 2/3 between ticket booth and security.
Tapstyles opened at 630.
Went to the right and was in park by 645.
DD and I both tried to secure BG at 700 and she secured BG 28 (she almost had 22 but accidentally backed out).
BG28 called at 823

Couple thoughts FWIW:
DD used park wifi while I tried to connect using Verizon. I had a strong signal and no signs of lag, but she still beat me to the BG.
I would recommend using the park wifi to connect, but don't stand near a large crowd which could overload specific wireless access points or slow it down. We were on Sunset away from everyone else.
Sounds like a very good morning! Before this latest change to BGs opening at the same time as official park opening, I would estimate you would have needed to arrive at HS at around 5:00 (a full hour before you even left your room at BWV this morning) to get a BG in the 20’s. Enjoy your day!

It looks like boarding group 65/66 is the high water mark for noon according to the thrill data graph. On a good pace today at 55 now at 10:45 (hope I don't jinx it).

Anybody want to spend 10 minutes at the exit counting how many people leave the attraction as you enjoy a snack or beverage? Wondering if they've hit 1700/hr.

I want to make sure my wife is linked to my disney app for this. How do I confirm and do this?

Our boarding group was called at 10:44- we weren’t expecting it to be called this early so we were on our way to Epcot on the monorail. We’re heading over to HS via skyliner now!

Technologically challenged here...people have talked about whether to use wifi or cellular.
I have an iPhone 6s (I think).
How do I know whether I am using wifi or cellular? And, how do I change to choose one or the other?
thanks.

BG 66 is being called now. That was noon time yesterday. So this a good rate.

Loving the reports today! Seems like everyone who was in the park at right at opening (and tried to get a BG as soon as they opened) got something around the 30s or lower which is great. Almost every report is a morning I'd be really happy to have when we're there in late January.

I know it sucked for the people that got there early on the first day, and we can debate whether it would be more "fair" to reward those who get their first to get the first/earliest BGs .... BUT if it works like this consistently that as long as you are there at park opening you are getting a relatively low number (so maybe it is near 40 instead of in the teens) and getting to ride in the morning, I think that is a good tradeoff vs having to be there at 4am to guarantee getting a BG

Discounting the "getting a BG process", arriving early gets you to the front of Hollywood Blvd and the sea of humanity so you can be one of the first to get on SDD or MFSR before it converts to a 60-90 minute wait. Getting to the park an hour before opening was a tried and true strategy before ROTR even opened and will still be the norm for a lot of people.

The argument against this strategy is "what is the difference if I wait an hour in line at SDD or show-up an hour early to DHS and wait an hour for RD...I am still spending an hour of my life waiting?" By getting on and off SDD early you can pretty much walk-on TSMM or AS2 which would not be possible if you exited SDD an hour after park open. That is the philosophy behind getting to the park about an hour before RD. Obviously, you can still have a great day showing up exactly at RD.

i get that -but that wasn't my question at all. The post was about staying to the right at tapstiles, not about getting there early. Why is staying to the right at tapstiles important

Because more people go to the left/middle because of how you enter the security bubble.

I just don't like standing in lines. So if going to the right means I can aimlessly mill around Hollywood Blvd 5 minutes longer and stand in line 5 minutes less, then it's good advice to me.
agreed, but what i don't understand is why is the right going quicker - why is it the better option?
