@BK2014 your best bet is to drive to DHS and from OKW it is close. Just plan to arrive between 9 - 9:05 AM at the parking lot. Driving will provide you the most control as to the time you arrive at DHS.

You might chose to arrive at OKW and drop off your luggage and then drive over to DHS.

For Those practicing at home if you do not hit Join on the main screen at exactly 10a you will not get through because they are gone so fast. 3-5 seconds late and you stand no shot.

I'm practicing and getting "are you in park?" finally after quickly pressing join-join. I got other folks in my MDE not going with me this next trip, so hoping the auto select will work as I'm not selecting my party. I tried that the other day selecting my party and got the red box of defeat. That too many clicks and precious seconds.

I tried for a BG for my friends who were in DHS today. Yesterday when I tried (from Texas) and they were NOT in DHS (they were in MK), only the main person in their party was checked. I used 4 phones all on home wifi, and I got the "you are not in the park" warning on one phone, so I would have gotten a BG (happened yesterday when I practiced at 10am and 2pm; I did not waste time adding the others since it was a test run and I knew that it should auto-select them all once in the park on the real day). Today, the REAL day, the three members of the party were inside the park. I tried again on 4 phones here at home in Texas on wifi, they tried on 3 phones (@ in the park 2 on Wifi, one on cell). My speed test at home on my wifi was 440 mps; theirs in the park (BEFORE the BGs dropped ) was ~80-90 both on cell and Wifi. Thankfully, today all three in the party were auto-selected, and I got them BG 8 from Texas!!! A very successful day, and I was relieved they were all auto-selected. There is basically no way you have time to even hesitate to add or remove from your party for 1/2 a second or you won't get a group. It is that blazing fast right now with reduced groups being offered.

I haven't followed the thread since spring before the shut down. I reread the first post for info, but didn't find this. When we were there last December (and in know it continued a bit after) if you were in an actual boarding group (not a backup) that didn't get called they would allow you to come back another day. I think they also offered a ticket too at first. If your group doesn't get called do they just tell you tough luck suck dirt now?
Yep...we had BG9 and the ride never opened all day (was struck by lightning the night before), they just said there’s nothing we can do, and they were super unfriendly while repeating nothing we can do over and over.

Considering that earlier in the year, they were providing guest recovery for those who didn't get to ride, they obviously CAN do something. Now they just WON'T do anything. :(

I have been practicing and if you have 4 other family members - what chance do folks really have? The boarding groups were gone in 2 seconds. Do you get added to the queue when you hit join or after you add family members?
I have five family members and we got boarding group 8, I don’t think the number of people matters.

Luckily this morning the ride was operating well, and their BG 8 was called about 15 minutes after park opening. It was their first time riding it, and they loved it! I felt lucky that the Force was with us this morning!

A while back someone recommended turning location services off for better results. I did that and my practicing was UNsuccessful a lot after that (too much time waiting for the friends/family list to load before the final "join" button became active for me to click).

More recently, someone recommended the opposite (turning location services ON). So I tried going back to having it on and my practicing has been consistently successful at both 10am and 2pm ever since!

Not scientific by any means, but that's been my experience the past few weeks.

I tend to think it has no impact. I got 19 with it on and 2 with it off last week.

I feel the same way. I think if you look hard enough you can frame anything in a positive or negative way when in reality it most likely doesn't matter at all. Same goes for people posting what app build they have and other minor things. It's better to not overthink it.

Ride is amazing. Thanks everyone for all the tips. Practicing really helps.

I used the time.gov site. It said my phone time was off by a second. I did like someone else mentioned. Watched the time until about 5 seconds, switched to the app and counted down in my head until it was time.
My Samsung Note 9 was off by a second as welI. I downloaded a seconds counter app that sits in my status bar. I synced it to my phone's time and now I know exactly what time it is.

I had no idea about practicing at home 🤦🏻‍♀️ but got us in yesterday at 2 pm as backup BG 69. I just made sure my phone was on LTE network, app was updated, location/Bluetooth turned on (app asked me to do it?), opened app a few minutes before joining, and kept refreshing the join page.

The CM said it was 50/50 we were going to get in as backups. Then it started pouring, and the ride went down (ended up being 30-40 min). After BG catch ups, our BG was finally called around 6:15 pm. We exited at 7 pm park closing looking like soaked rats, but very HAPPY soaked rats, lol. The ride was so worth it

Hi guys! This thread was so helpful when we went pre-COVID. I decided to make a screen recording of my practice run this morning so people could see both the "Not so Fast!" screen and then going back and trying again and seeing the red "Boarding Groups Full" message so they know what to look for at home. You can also see in this video how quickly the process goes. Just FYI, I'm in the central time zone, which is why my time says 8:59 instead of 9:59.I hope this helps!

Great video!

My big concern is that earlier on, the amount of time it took for the app to populate the list of names (and make the final "join" button active) was about what your video shows. But recently, my phone has been spinning several seconds longer and delaying that page from loading.

I'm still able to get to the point where I would have gotten a BG (albeit probably a high number) a lot of times when practicing. But occasionally those extra seconds waiting for the page to load are too long and I get the "red screen of death."

Hoping that my phone doesn't hang up on that screen when it counts. I have generally bad cell reception in the location I'm practicing from, so I think that plays a role. Hopefully, I'll be able to get in some practicing with a better connection to increase my confidence.

I'm as fast as humanly possible on clicking the buttons, but I'm at the mercy of how long it takes the button to load and become active.

I just keep repeating to myself...

Yep - I think your cell signal or wifi strength are really the main issue with how fast that screen loads. And, no one can control that part when they're in the park. That's why practicing and getting your muscle memory for the buttons helps, but can't guarantee anything. I have my fingers crossed for you!!
