When we asked a cast member in Batuu yesterday to double check we actually had a boarding group (cause we’re old, our tracphones are basically dirt, and we can be horribly nervous sometimes :crazy2:), he kindly verified it and told us we had an hour once our group was called. BG34. We walked right thru at 9:45 am and were done by 10:15 am.

I was Mississippi-ing as soon as I saw my phone roll to 6:59. Ha.

Just an aside, I was lucky enough to ride the first time back on December 14th with my two DDs...back when everything opened at park opening and it was all about getting to the gate wicked early - and staying right- :)...have to agree with a PP - it was one of our sweetest Disney days ever!

Oh, and my husband’s first and last names now start with “A”. Lol.

For iPhones you can look at the clock app itself on the home screen of your phone. It actually has the second hand on it moving around the clock. That’s how I know when it is 10 sec till 7
OMG I have never noticed that!! Of course, I have mine together with a bunch of other things in a category I named utilities, so it's tiny, bit even tiny its there and I can see it. I can't believe I've never noticed or knew that! I love learning dumb little things that I didn't know how to do on a phone that are so easy and come in handy. I'll drag it out to be on it's own on the home screen and keep an eye on that before I hit the button for the first time. Thank you!

BTW, what I did this morning was right at 6:59 I just started opening the app, see it's greyed out, close out of app completely, redo process until it showed up red. I seemed to get through before anyone close to me as I got my group, and people didn't start cheering around me until about 20-30 seconds after

When you say close the app, do you mean just swipe up (if you have an Iphone X or newer) so if you then click it again it comes right up, or do you mean actually completely close down the app, so when you click it it has to re-open and log you in again? Because if I swipe up to just go back to my main screen, then click on the app again, it goes right back to where I was immediately. If I go through the process of actually closing down the app it takes the 10-15 sec to re-open, sitting on the castle for a few seconds, the having the fireworks in the shape of mickey go off, and then goes to the main MDE page. This seems to kind of "reset" the app better, but takes a lot longer (lot being relative lol). It seems random when I completely close the app as to if it has to take a few extra seconds to log me in or if it kept me logged in. I can see the Log in button flash, then it thinks and it goes away and I'm logged in,

In general when people say close the app, which do they mean?

I would complete close out, meaning restart the app. I don't really know if that helps or not. But I timed it well enough this morning obviously.

from home I have tried
Launching at 7am on the bg page in about 15 seconds
launching before 7am, waiting until 7 and hitting find out more, for me, this tends to take a bit longer
But in both cases I finish the test within a minute
that's interesting. For me, completely opening the app after it was closed takes much longer than sitting on the MDE main screen that has the find out more button. Again, we're talking like 10 seconds more, not minutes, but that seems to be the increments that we're all referring to in these discussions.

Ok, thanks. As I mentioned above, it seems to take a lot longer for me to restart the app than just click between find out more and join boarding group, but that's been from home. Who knows what will work when the time actually comes. But I think it seems like being in the app and hitting find out more right at 7:00, or dare I say even a second or 2 after 7:00, seems the most likely to work based on my home attempts, assuming things are the same when I'm there (which I'm sure they won't be).

Right, I think the thought process is, by shutting down completely it could register that BGs are open quicker than just staying on the app

We will be at DS on Tuesday, February 4 and need help with our morning plans. DS is scheduled to open at 8:00 am and we would like to try to get onto Rise of the Resistance. We are staying at POFQ.

My questions are:
1. What time should we be at the bus stop? Should we consider alternate transportation?
2. How long will it take us at DS to get from the bus stop through the turnstile and into the park. The crowds look massive and I can't even guess how long it will take. I want to make sure we are in the park before opening.

Any advice you have is appreciated.

this is the proper thread for your question. People post their experiences daily so just read a couple of pages back for all the answers.

Oh Ok, I thought maybe there was a way to show it on your phone. I trust the phone clock, and if I had a watch I had to set it wouldn't be exact like a phone or computer. I guess I can see how you could pretty easily tell how many seconds it took to log in, refresh, etc, but I don't get how to know how many seconds ahead of 7:00 it is, any watch I set won't be accurate down to the second and I don't know that my apple watch does that. But it doesn't matter anyway, there's no way I'm going to be able to get quite that specific when the time actually comes. I'm going to hope my method of clicking find out more exactly as the iphone turns to 7:00 will work in the real world as well as it does at home.
My apple watch has a face I can choose that is an old school watch face with a red second hand. There is probably a digital option too, but I liked the second hand version. This worked wonderfully when we were trying to get BGs at DLR on opening weekend. I had my phone on the ledge and my apple watch laid right next to it and my fingers at the ready!

OMG I had no idea about this either! Thank you!!!!

Just an FYI for anyone going in February - while they had changed the park hours for DHS to opening an hour earlier last week they only just today added FP for Slinky Dog, etc. to that extra hour - I was able to get a SDD FP for 8:50am

This way now I can rope drop MFSR rather than that ride - so thought this might be relevant to other people here planning their Rope Drop strategy for DHS
Ugh, we had been checking every day for this to open up but I was in meetings today, by the time I could check there wasn't anything in the morning :(
