I was wondering, how are people at home helping or checking on desktops for boarding groups? I do not see that option on MyDisneyExperience website, I must be missing something here.
I think they are using the app on their phone. That has always been my understanding. It makes sense its not on the main website. It's not like people are going to bring a laptop into the park...

Yes--they're using their phones. The BGs aren't available on the MDE website.

Rode ROTR the first week in January while there were leftover holiday crowds exiting and marathoners starting to show up. Back then when even Touring Plans were still a 9 or 10 for HS that week the amount of time it took for all BGs to be gone was only a minute or two. After marathon weekend it took anywhere from 15 to 30 min for the groups to fill up. This is all according to "the chart" and I'm only estimating. Today I looked at the chart again and today and yesterday it only took a minute for the groups to fill up even though Touring Plans only has HS at a 4 today. But yet the backups were still available for a while longer.

What I would like to know is what is causing this other than just high demand? There is no special events or happenings at WDW besides Festival of the Arts right now. All the holidays are done and the next big one isn't until Presidents week so what is the cause for the insane demand right at opening now?

They significantly reduced the number of regular boarding groups, so those still go very quickly. Backup groups have been available well after park open, however.

My understanding is the ride is awesome, so that is driving up demand to ride it. In addition, word is getting out to even 'casual' potential riders of the steps that they are needing to take to maximize their chances of riding.

Early on, there were large numbers of people who didn't even know they had to arrive at the park early or indeed that the park hours had even changed. Now, you have a much more well-informed population.

Also, they decreased the number of regular boarding groups.

They have cut "regular" bg. At the beginning the regular ones would go into the 100s, now they are going only into the 80s or 90s. This is why they are running out in a minute, BUT if you look at the chart you can see that they are boarding way into the 100s, so the ride is performing better

Spoiler Alert for anyone clicking on that link.

No kidding! I went to that site earlier to read a Rise article (don't remember which one) and I saw spoilers and was not happy at all. I will not be going there again until after I've ridden!

I’ve been following this thread for weeks and and I want to thank everyone for sharing their experiences in obtaining a BG, it really helped me be prepared for today.

Left AKL via car at 5:50. Parked and thru security (bag line) by 6:02. In park and ECV rented for hubby by 6:30. Waited outside Keystone Clothiers. On iPhone 11 AT&T (wi-fi turned off). Opened app at 6:58. As soon as time on phone turned 7, hit ‘Find out more’ and ‘Join boarding group’ was Red. Clicked through, selected my husband (have 6 other people in friends and family not with us) and got BG 3!!! I was in total shock.

Ride was awesome and soooo worth getting up early to experience it.
