Just got an email that we passed rofr for the points we are selling.

but it says I will need a notary to complete the sale- I hate to shell out big bucks for someone to come to my house.

would a notary at a currency exchange notarize this document? in the past, the notaries at the currency exchange have refused to do mortgage documents.

any other suggestions for notaries?

I've always gone to my credit union. There are several there and they did it for me when I bought DVC.

I also have a friend who is a notary, so she'll do it for me if I need her to!!!

My bank does it for me, no fees; I just call before I head over to make sure a notary is there (and not out to lunch or something).

My work has a notary, she notarizes for free. Ask a couple of people you know and you may find one in a place you never expected. Usually the fee is nominal though at banks and credit unions, my bank is free for members.

We went to our bank and the teller there did it for free. I am also a notary, but could not do my own. I do not charge our customers to notarize. Non-customers that walk for service get charged the state allowed fees.

We have always just used our bank. However, I noticed the other day that our local UPS Store offers notary services too.

In addition to your bank/credit union, call your town hall. Someone who works in our town hall notarizes documents for residents at no charge.

thanks for all the suggestions. I will probably try our bank, hopefully they have a notary there on weekends. our village hall does notary, but after he was laid off my husband could only find a temp job which goes from 9-6 so we can't make it between 8:30-5 at the village hall, and he can't take off without losing pay.

Just sold our small BCV contract and last week had to get the closing papers notarized. We had it done at our bank free. When we purchased another contract earlier in the year at the BWV, we found someone at the hospital I work at who also did it for free.

Most Kinko's stores also have notaries, and many of them have extended hours. They charge to notarize, obviously, but the charge should not be much. Remember, all owners of the contract will have to personally appear before the notary and sign the documents in their presence.

Also, any lawyer's office would have a notary, as would just about any auto dealership, auto title agency, real estate broker, etc, etc. Notaries are all over the place.

don't forget AAA, not sure of the rules in each state but, I had a seal when I worked in banking.

Finally quit doing the "freebies" @ work because of all the people who wanted me to sign off on people - who weren't there in front of me.

Just a reminder - all signing parties must be presented to notary with picture ID or other acceptable form, unless you're getting into POAs.

If you paid a lawyer to review the documents (do people do that when selling DVC), somebody in office should be able to notorize them for you.

Our papers also required a separate witness. Our bank had a notary for free but she wouldn't sign as the witness (the paperwork said it was allowed) and said no other bank employee could sign because that person would be agreeing to appear in court if there was a problem.

Had to return the next day with 2 people as witnesses.

how many people needed witnesses?

can people please post if they needed witnesses?

we recently bought resale and did not need a witness. First we went to the bank and the notary was not in that day, so headed to the town hall.

Sorry--this was for MIL's quit deed/transfer. Maybe witnesses aren't need on the resales.
