I'm looking for some help from veteran diners at WDW. My husband will be returning from the Middle East in December and we are planning to spend a week at WDW with the kids. But we want to have one nice dinner out for the two of us. :love2: We'll be staying at the Dolphin and want something nearby, we're thinking Epcot but would consider MGM or taking the boat to the Boardwalk or Yacht Club area. The meal doesn't have to be fancy but good and someplace relatively quiet. This is a somewhat last minute trip and we are complete newbies to WDW. Le Celliar (that I read such good things about here) is already booked. Please help...

The Flying Fish has got some great food and atmosphere and is on the Boardwalk right around the corner. It's not very noisy. A little pricey though.

Another great place is the Marrakesh Restaurant in Morocco. The food there is great, and it's hardly ever crowded because people are afraid of the food, IMHO, even though it's excellent.

Palio at the Swan has a great reputation for romance and Italian food. That will be right next door to you. I don't think it's on the meal plan, though.

Flying Fish can get quite noisy.

If you want quiet, one of the quietest places in WDW is Bistro de Paris in Epcot. You can only book 30 days in advance, there is a dress code, but it would be perfect.

when I ate at BlueZoo, it was quiet; however, it was when it first opened (as a restaurant, not for the night) so I'm not sure if it's picked up since then; I also hear that Shula's is quiet, although I have no experience there. Both also offer free babysitting at the Dolphin Club when you eat at these restaurants, if your children are of that age...

Thank you all so much for your recommendations. I think I'm going to try Le Bistro first since my DH really wanted to do something at Epcot (this Sat will be 30 days prior, so I guess I'll be up early dialing Disney). If that doesn't work out, you all came up with lots of other great sounding advice...keep it coming... I feel much more encouraged that we'll find something we'll love.

Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club is very good.

Agreed, it's good, but it can get loud. It also attracts a larger number of kids than Bistro. Bistro has no kids menu, I believe by design. ;)

Shula's is fairly quiet, but not terribly romantic--it's a bit testosterone laden for that. Blue Zoo would have been my second suggestion after Bistro.

I second the Yachtsman Steakhouse. Easily my favorite meal of all Disney-time.

Although if my husband was coming back from the Middle East, I know EXACTLY what he would want. He'd go over to the Boardwalk pizza take out window for a large pie, get a couple or four glasses of wine for us, have a great sit along the Boardwalk and then go back to the Dolphin pool for a long sit in their great hot tubs, then up to the room for some sports on ESPN. :rotfl: Sorry, he's not romantic but he's put up with me for the past 24 years.

Congrats on 24 years together...after months of taking care of the kids, my husband is a romantic as a "thank you" to me...15 more years to go to catch up with you. :flower:

Never eaten at Bistro, so have to vote for Yachtsman but agree that it can get noisy.

There sure aren't a lot of restaurants without kids and/or noise!

Also, if you like tuna fish for lunch, try the Dolphin Fountain...best tuna fish I've had at WDW!

Just hopping on to wish the two of you a wonderful vacation, as well as a romantic eal together. My thanks to your family for your service and personal sacrifice to our country. :goodvibes :goodvibes

Thank you, NancyG56. That people, regardless of politics, have been so kind and generous to us, certainly does make a difference and eases the pain of seperation.

Thanks to everyone for your great ideas. Does anyone know what time the WDW dining line starts taking calls in the morning? I want to be sure to call as soon as possible for those Le Bistro reservations. If we can't get in, so many of the alternatives sound wonderful it will be hard to choose.

The dining line opens ar 7:00 AM EST. We had Easter dinner at Bistro a few years a go and it has to be the quietest place at WDW. We eat at the Yachtsman every year and although it is a fav of ours the hardwood floors make it a noisy if you are sitting in the middle of the restaurant. Cornoer tables are your best bet. Have a magical vacation!!!

First, thank you to you and DH for making sacrifices to keep our country safe and great! We really appreciate it! :)

I love Bistro de Paris and think it's the quiestest and most intimate place we've eaten at in WDW. The food, service and atmosphere were great. Have a great trip!
