Ok maybe this is a stupid ? But if you use the magical express and you have luggage does disney get it for you and then you go right to the area where you pick up bus.

Yep, best part of a Disney vacation for me! You check your luggage at the airport and do not see it again until your room at Disney.

As long as you put the yellow luggage tags on your suitcases, Disney will retrieve your bags and deliver them to your resort. Luggage service operates from early morning until 10:30pm and you can expect your luggage within 3-4 hours after checking in.

Im not so sure anymore after having a bag delivered to two incorrect resorts before they found the right one - even though it had a tag on it with the name of the correct resort written right there.

My DME stuff says if I arrive after 10 pm (I arrive at 10:15 pm) I will have to collect my own luggage before proceeding to them.

It will be nice though to not have my bags show up at 2 am.

Yes, so make sure you won't need anything right away out of your suitcase upon arrival to your resort. Your suitcases will be delivered to your room within a few hours. If you plan on swimming right away for instance, have your bathing suits packed in a carry on.

We've had bad experiences with luggage delivery on our last two trips. On our next trip, if we decide to go the MDE route (may just use a car service instead) we will NOT have them deliver our luggage. The hassle of not having to deal with luggage wasn't worth waiting over 9 hours for our luggage to finally arrive.

Just a word of warning, do not hold them to the 3 to 4 hours, it has taken up to 6 hours to get my luggage at OKW. Do not put anything absolutely necessary, (like meds, or swimwear if you want to swim that day) in your checked luggage. But overall, it is a very nice service and I continue to use it.

you always have the option to get your bags and take them to the bus with you

I decided to pick up my luggage and bring it to the bus so we'd have it right away. I already had enough carry on stuff that I didn't want to deal with more. And I was concerned about getting my bags after kid bedtime.

It was no big deal to stop and get it. I think it's a great perk, but for my circumstances, I preferred it in my hands.

Mine didn't arrive where it was supposed to be until 2 AM, which was about 10 hours after landing. Bell services kept it overnight. I will have to think hard about ever using the service again. Certainly not on a short trip.

That takes all of the fun out of it! We always take an early morning flight and carry what we need for the Parks. So, we do not actually get to our room for real until several hours after we land. Knock wood, we've always had our luggage by then.

ThAnks for the info. It will be nice not having to cart all our luggage with having 2 children and not worried about getting it early when we check in going straight to ak. Probably won't get back to our resort till late

I have only used the baggage service once when I flew in on a red eye. It worked just fine as I landed at 6am and wasn't able to get into my room until the afternoon anyways.

I usually fly in later at night. My flight lands at 7:45pm in May and I will be collecting my luggage. I will have been up since 2:30am PST and will want to go to bed when I get to my hotel room. I don't want to have to wait for my luggage to arrive.

It works going the other direction too, which can be nice. If you have a late afternoon flight, you can check your bags at the resort when you check out, then go to the parks for a few hours until it's time to go back to the resort to catch ME.

So, if my family lands at 8:45pm, what time would our bags likely be delivered to our resort? We are staying at BC.. Would it be better to retrieve our own luggage and bring it to the bus, or just pack pajamas and stuff in a carry on?

Since you probably won't get to your resort until 10pm, you probably wouldn't get your luggage until at least 1am. With regards to what's better, I'd say it depends. If you're OK with having carry-ons with pajamas, a change of clothes and other necessities to see you through getting up and getting ready the next morning, then go that route. (You can ask Bell Services to hold your checked luggage until morning.) If you'd rather have all your luggage with you before going to bed that night, then retrieve if yourself from baggage claim (make sure not to use the yellow DME tags) and have it stored under the bus. If you do it that way though, you should tip the DME driver.

We've used MDE and luggage service many times and never had a problem with luggage arriving promptly.

In fact, one time when my granddaughter was joining us mid-trip and her luggage didn't make it through the plane change in Atlanta, Disney went out of their way to track it down and get it to us early the next morning.

I go to Disney several times a year and half the time I am carry on only and half the time I have checked bags and in all those trips, I have never even had a hiccup getting my bags in a timely manner. But, I am always an early flight and, from what I have heard, that is the key. The wait for bags gets exponentially longer the later the arrival time.
