Questions about October trip

We have just booked a land/sea trip for October 2005. I know this is over one year out but we need the time to save money and plan! :p

My questions are:

1. How is the weather at WDW in October? Will it still be warm enough to do the water parks?

2. What are the crowds like in October? We will be at WDW October 16th - 20th before leaving on the cruise (we still might add a day or two to the front of the trip but will have to see how much we can save first). I have been reading the crowds have really increased in October. We picked this because our last big trips have all been over Spring Break and we would like to have a vacation with smaller crowds.

3. When will the dates be out for the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Pary for 2005? My DH and I did the MVMCP last year and thought it was a blast. We thought the kids would love to do the Halloween Party next year and we want to see if any of the dates will line up with the dates we have picked to be at WDW.

Thanks in advance for everyone's input.

I was in Disney in early October of 2002. The weather was beautiful, definitely warm enough for the Water parks. The crowds were relatively small. My wife and I got on most rides without much of a line.

I don't know the answer to your last question since I've never been to the Halloween party.

IMO, October is great time to go.

We have been the past 3 Octobers. (See my trip list below!)

1) Weather is iffy. Our dates have been rather similar to yours (2001: 20-25, 2002: Oct 15-20, 2003: Oct 14-19). In 2001, we froze. No swimming. The other years were just fine and rather warm.

2) Don't worry about crowds. Compared to Spring Break and Summer trips it won't be bad. You'll need to be using FP (always have a FP in your pocket!) - but it will be manageable. (In 2001, just 5 weeks after 9/11, it was really low attendance. My DD was spoiled on her first Disney trip.) You'll especially love virtually walking onto everything at MNSSHP.

3) They will post the MNSSHP dates 4-5 months in advance. But I'd be pretty confident, that with a 4 day stay you will be in good shape (for example, this year they have parties on: Oct 1, 3, 8, 12, 14, 17, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 29, and 31).

Best of luck!

We have gone the last 4 years in varying times in October. In general the weather is really nice and usually hot. There was one year where we had to have a sweatshirt first thing in the morning, but as soon as the sun came up we were able to take it off and were fine.

The crowds have definatly been increasing in Ocotober, but no where near the same as summer, or holidays.
