Thinking about changing my Vacation Days from Early Feb to Early June 2026

I've been each week of August. This year I'm going in the first week. And went in the first week in 2023. Crowds were low.
The majority of schools around the country other than like the Northeast are back by in session by I'd say August 10th so basically second half of August is absolutely dead but first half is low crowds.

ok, so based on what I have seen here :

1. second week of June: milder weather than August (although sometimes it could be as hot/miserable as August), less rain/storms , but crowds will be WAY worse

2. Second week of August: Weather will be probably worse (hotter, more chances of rain/storm), but crowds will be way BETTER (low crowds.

Did I get that right? based on what I see here, August might be a better option if we can manage weather

I have a friend whose parents live in the Villages and because she works in a school district, she spends most of her school breaks in FL, she finds the weather in February to be the most unpredictable. I think if you go in to August knowing it will be hot, and time a midday TS lunch for the heat of the day the lower crowds might be a good trade. I've been in August (although not recently) and it was hot, but I knew it was going to be hot. So it didn't bother me terribly...I'd prefer to deal with the hotter than the surface of the sun, melt my skin off heat than the chilly swamp that might happen in February.

I think the driving factor here is your child's school schedule. I have a sophomore in high school and a 5th grader. While it is slightly easier to pull my 5th grader, I would still never consider pulling him out of school for an entire week. Their schools have a rigorous curriculum and he would miss too much and become stressed. We travel when the kids are out of school. (unless it is one day here or there). And yes that means we travel the busiest weeks of the year (I'm looking at you Easter week and President's week) but what can you do?...

We go in august every year. It’s lower crowds if you can tolerate the heat. Take a midday break, and drink preemptive Gatorade. DD hates missing school because it’s so hard to catch up. Missing a week of algebra 2 is pretty rough since the class will have moved on to the next concept. Disney is more fun when there’s no homework to do during breaks.
