Question about ride videos for memory maker?

I think we will purchase the memory maker. Do we need to swipe our magic band after the ride to get a video?
I know Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Tower of Terror have the videos. Do any of the other rides have them or are they getting any?

Currently those are the only videos. Rumor is that Haunted Mansion will be getting one, but no known date. Just as with the still ride photos, if you have a magic band, you don't need to do anything to get the picture/video - it will just appear in your MDE in the Photopass area automatically.

Ok thank you. That would be great if the get some more videos :)

I dont understand how this works. I mean, your MB knows when you get on the ride because you swipe your MB (I think - never used them) but how does it know where you are sitting? Your MB cant know where you sit on Everest in order to know which pic to attack to your MB, etc so Im confused on how this actually works.

I couldn't begin to tell you HOW it works, I only know that it does! The rfid chip in the MB tracks you somehow. My first couple of photo rides in Oct, I still stopped at the photo viewing spot after the ride to get a little ticket with my photo number on it, but it was unnecessary - I did nothing and the many people in my party in many configurations all had their pictures captured in my Memory Maker account every time. Awesome!

Personally, I will still swipe my band after each ride. I'd rather not risk something not showing up. YMMV! :)

We were there November/December 2014 and yes, there is a video of the Mine train and TOT but you also get photos. We did NOT swipe our bands once while there. The pictures would show up pretty quick on your account. We got ALL of our pictures from rides. It is so amazing how it works! We would check our pictures usually at lunch and at dinner. It was fun to do during our meals. :)

There's a sensor at the point where the picture is taken.

Ours always were on our memory maker in November, we never scanned our band. Also some of our regular picture were also videos. We had 1 in the front of AK. 1 by the castle, Tinkerbell fell over. 1 by Beasts castle. I know we had a few more, I just can't remember them all. We had no idea until we looked at our photos and some had videos too.

When we went in May I remember scanning our band for the photographers around the park ?

Magic Bands support long-range RFID reading, so it can detect you on your ride car. If you have card style tickets, then you would have to tap at the photo preview area. 7DMT does not have a preview area for photos so the only way to get them is with a Band.

We just got back and had Memory Maker....the little video clips are great.
Oh, don't forget to ask every Photopass photographer if they have "magic shots" available for a cool surprise!! (some are videos)

Tell me if I'm wrong, but if you don't pay for Memory Maker, do the photos and videos still show up in you MDE, and then if you want them, you pay for the individually ?

Yep, as part of Photopass, and you can pay for them individually, or in small packages...it's all about the number of pictures you think you'll take on your trip that determines whether or not Memory Maker makes sense...for us, it absolutely did!!!

Oh and one other thing....let's say you use Photopass, and take a bunch of photos, then 3 days later you decide to purchase Memory Maker....all those pictures you took will be transferred and be included right away as part of your Memory Maker and all will be available to view on your MDE account. You just need to ask your concierge CM, if you're staying on property, or go to the Photopass center in DTD and they will link it for you!

For the videos you just see the entire train for SDMT, it doesn't pinpoint you. On ToT it's just a wide shot of all riders.

I am very curious as to how this workd especially with the ride videos. When we were there we rode 7DMT 3 times. Once was with a FP and the other 2 times were with my sons DAS. I don't remember swiping my magic band when we used the DAS yet magically all 3 videos and pictures were all there in my Memory Maker when we got home from the trip. The only think I can think of is the actually ride vehicles have electronic detecters in them that can detect the magic bands without even swiping them. Sort of like the new Apple Pay thing that came out with the iphone 6. Thats my only reasoning on this fact, lol.

The MB has a long range and a short range RFID in it. The short range is like the Apple Pay - it's for tapping for park entry, FP+ and payments. The long range is for the ride photos and videos. The sensors in the cameras read it and know to associate that pic with you. The Photopass card has a short range RFID that needs to be tapped when you find your pic on the display - it doesn't associate you automatically because it's not associated with your ticket if you don't have a MB.

I was very skeptical that my pictures and videos would automatically end up on my MB so I went and scanned it at the desk everytime (I never saw a desk for 7DMT) and then I ended up with those pictures and videos on my account twice b/c I had the CM scan my MB. So it works extremely well. Some people don't like it b/c it also means Disney can track your every move / location in WDW.
