HI Everyone,
I just got back Friday from a week in disney had an awesome time, I can not even begin to tell you how helpful this board was in my trip thanks everyone. I do have some questions though if you dont mind.
While I was there my fiance and myself decided to go check out the Disney Vacation Club. We really liked it and it seemed like something that would be great for us. Right now you can buy it a 12,600 for 150 points at the beach club I believe. I was impressed with the rooms area etc.
I really value the opinions of the people on the board I was wondering how many of you are DVC members. and if so do u like it. Would you do it again. Etc. Thank you very much in advance for all of your help
Thanks again
Dan :D

We are new DVC'ers, just closed last week, and will never regret our decision. We enjoy Disney and know that we will go forever. The thing that held us up a year in deciding to buy was the fact that we live in WI and it is not that close and airfare for 4 is $$$. After talking, via this board, to a guy in CHicago and getting his opinion on driving down it really decided it for us. We bought 250 points to start because we have a DD 9 and a DS 2 and know that we will need a 2-bdr soon. 150 points is an okay start and you can always add-on.

The one thing you need to look at is the time of year you want to go and what you want for a room. If a studio is fine than 150 should cover you for most of the year, but if you are going to do 1bdr and travel yearly you will need more than 150. Think hard about what you want now because the price has gone up 2 times since we first looked a year ago and the BCV are selling out fast.

Good luck to you

We've been members since November, 1999. My only regret is that we didn't check it out and buy in sooner. We take at least one trip per year to Disney and DVC has saved us money over what we used to spend on lodging (on site mod or deluxe). Of course that isn't even mentioning that with DVC we get larger accomodations with more amenities!

Be careful - you will quickly get spoiled. My first trip to DVC was in a studio. That was the only time I stayed in a studio. Only a 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom will do now! My next trip will be in a 2 bedroom - there will be 3 adults. We each must have our own bed and the living room/kitchen must remain open for the early risers or the night owls. That makes sense, right????? Not too spolied, right????? :o :p :teeth:

We checked out DVC on our first trip in 97 and signed up. We've been back 11 times since then with a trip planned for June and Jan. We'd never do it without DVC.

I own at Beach Club. We stayed there in July the first week they were open. What a great place. A friend of mine told me, that once you stay at a DVC property, you will never want to stay in an ordinary hotel property again. He is sooooo right. :p I have 300 points. This way I can go just about anytime of the year I want and get one or two bedroom villas for my family of 5. I looked at DVC in 1997 and did not buy, what a mistake. Now that I am in DVC, I can honestly say it was the best purchase of my life. I hope you join us neighbor! :smooth:

We bought our first DVC contract in 1997 at OKW, and did do it again in 2002, buying another contract, again at OKW.

It is one of the best decisions we have ever made. We have not regretted our purchase of DVC points for one moment since we bought them.

We just joined DVC in 2002 and are very pleased with the results. We do regret not joining up several years earlier.:( We have only made one trip via DVC so far, though we have 2 reservations for this year.:Pinkbounc :bounce: Congratulations!

Member since 1992, with 3 add-ons. There is no way we could afford to go to WDW 2/3 times per year without it...let alone take friends and family occasionally. It has meant many wonderful vacatons.

Hi, Dan
Yes, we would do it again in a heartbeat!
In fact, we seem to 'do it again' quite often, as we have a total of six contracts.

Good luck with your decision.......

We joined DVC in 1998 and later did an add-on. We are 100% satisfied with our purchase. The kids are getting older and it's neat to see them get involved in our vacation planning. Most purchases seem to fade or change with time, DVC never seems to get "old".

Thanks everyone for you help, it was some great information, just a few more quick ?'s if you dont mind. Do you think it is best to buy a new contract through disney or resale. also did everyone finance through disney, or are there other places to get better rates. thanks again everyone

We bought 270 points through Disney at BWV in 1998, and did a resale Feb '02 for another 232 at OKW. With 3 dds regular rooms don't cut it. Not to mention we have room to take others with us. My mom and dad are going with us next week, and my BIL and wife on prior trips.

Either way you go, resale or through Disney, you won't be dissapointed.

Do you think it is best to buy a new contract through disney or resale.
Depends on which DVC property you want for your home resort. BCV and Vero Beach are available through Disney...OKW, BWV, VWL and HH are only availalbe through resale.

Have been member since 1994 and have never regretted it. We have had 11 vacations to WDW since and 5 to HHI. We added points by resale at HHi this fall. It does get addictive. You have such waonderful accomdations and such flexibility. OKW is our home resort but we will be trying BCV in June.

Go for it! You will not regret it!

Just for fun (Hey, I'm a math teacher-this is my idea of fun), last night I figured out the cash value of this years' stays vs. what we're presently paying for dues AND mortgage. What a pleasant surprise! I found that if I'd paid cash for my stays, I would be paying about the same as I am. And remember, in 4 1/2 years, we'll only be paying dues, which is about 25%. And yes, you really do get spoiled with the size of the accomodations!
