Question about CS credits

Hi. We just got the dining plan for our upcoming trip and I have a question. We have 4 adults and 2 children on the plan. I understand that you have to order of the childrens menu for the kids if there is one however, my question is about places that do not like Casey's for example. If my son wanted to stop and order a hotdog for lunch how would they know to take that credit from the childrens credits and not an adult one. I could see where this could get confusing and having them take the credit from the wrong bank of credits thus leaving us with fewer adult credits. Or are the credits pooled all together? If they are pooled what's to stop someone from ordering some adult meals and then going back and ordering more adult meals for the kids (I would never do that but I am just wondering what Disney has in place to stop dishonest people). Thanks for all your help!

No worries, it shouldn't be an issue at all. Just make sure when you order to tell them to use a child's credit for your son's meal. :goodvibes

I think her question is that when we go to places that don't have a kids menu, therefore they have to give an adult meal, since it's a kid, how do they know to subtract that adult meal from the kids portion of CS credits--right OP?

I have the same question so that's how I read it. Places like Casey's that don't offer a kids menu, how do they charge that adult meal consumed by a kid against the credits.

I am concerned about this as well...I'm afraid I'll forget to specify which credit this is and my hopes are that the CM at the register will ask, but otherwise we could end up eating kids meals at the end:sad2:

I understand that this is her question. My answer was that you get around this by telling the Cashier (for example at Casey's) that this is for a child and asking them to please subtract a child credit from the meal plan.

It seems like Disney is trying to clear up a lot of this confusion by adding kids meals to places that have only had adult meals in the past. Hopefully they can complete this transition and remove all confusion for guests and CM's alike. :goodvibes:

Yep! That is my question, thank you for the information. I didn't know that CM's could go into the bank and pick a credit to use. So am I correct to assume that if you forget to specify which credit to use they will automatically use an adult CS meal. If that's the case I may try to avoid the CS places that don't have kids meals so that I don't forget to tell them which credit to use although that doesn't give the kids many options. The last time I used the dining plan was in 2007, before all the changes took place. It seems much more confusing now.

Thanks again for all of your help!

I had the same question and the only reason why I ask is because my son and husband likes the Yorkshire - Fish and Chips, and there are no children's menu so, I don't want to worry about going somewhere else with my daughter and having had my husband forget to tell them that one is a child's credit. And on another thread someone mentioned that it was still pooled on the receipt but possibly not on the system. This makes it more problematic since I cannot just look at the receipt and verify that, first, my husband DID remember to tell them, and secondly, the CM DID remember to use one of the child's credit. :rolleyes2

I'm hoping that it hasn't changed. So I don't have to worry about adult credits being used up for my child at these restaurants. I know there are few, but (since it does not show that it is separated on the receipt but only on the system) I'm not in the mood to fix it after we have ordered and then be told that we don't have enough adult credits.:sad2:

I agree completely. My husband would never remember to tell the CM taking his order who the credits should be applied for. I also feel like I can't even ask this question (on the Dining Plan link) w/o getting flamed.

This is going to be my worry with the dining plan...hopefully I'm more concerned than I need to be:rolleyes2

Unless things have changed, you can look at your receipt and tell how many of each type of credit (adult/child) you have left. That's what we did after each meal, and we didn't have any trouble at all keeping track of our balance . . . and we were a party of 15. Just check your receipt each time and you'll be fine. The cast members are really pretty good at this.

That's what we usually do. I've never had a problem keeping tabs on the credits. But apparently they are now separating the CS credits. Another poster had mentioned that the receipt still shows the TOTAL for all CS left, but the Disney system shows them as separate. :confused3

So if my husband forgets to tell them, the receipt will only show 2 credits less, but apparently, it still does not show which 2 credits. I just can't understand why Disney would change their system to reflect the separate credits (adult and child) but not show it on the receipt.:confused3

I think this is the question of the day! I am suprised though that this thread has gotten this far as everytime I seem to ask a question pertaining to the separation of credits, my post is removed. I am extremely worried about my husband taking my dd off on his own and forgetting to tell them to use a child credit at places that don't offer children's menus. I really wish we could get a correct answer to this question.

I know the one poster (to my knowledge, anyway) has never really answered how or why she knows that they are in fact separated and not still pooled. Sounds as if it still shows them as pooled on the reciept though. I do realize that if you go to order three meals and your card says 2A 1C that is what you can get - but that doesn't mean that they are not still pooled, kwim? That is where I think the other poster is confusing us maybe (I sincerely apologize if I'm wrong, I'm not trying to start anything with that poster, it's just my take on the situation). Geez, I really hope we can get a straight answer on this soon to put our questions to rest.

Oh, and on a side note, there are valid reasons we are asking these questions - not everyone is out to beat the system, rather we don't want to have to deal with a mess while on vacation. I feel like I'm doing something wrong by wanting to know the answer to this. :confused3

WELL SAID!!

WELL SAID!!

Lol, thanks! Do you think we could call one of the resorts food courts and get an answer to this? Can we even get through to them or is it just the front desk? I doubt just by calling Disney dining we could get a straight answer as it seems like they give out different answers to the same question all the time. (I can understand that though, they are really not in the thick of things like a cashier at say POP food court would be). Maybe it is worth a try?

I completely agree. I understand that Disney can see how many adults and children. Where it gets confusing is how you make sure and know that they have charged for a childs credit if my Ds wants fish from Yorkshire or my DD wants a hotdog from Caseys, especially if they are the only ones ordering a meal.

It could be worth a try. It seems like different CMs have different answers though depending on who you ask.

I called Disney Dining...they didn't seem to have a clear answer. They said that it was separated, but when I asked if it was shown on the receipt, they were not sure. So that was of no help.:sad2:

Isn't that true!!! Ok, so I just called POP. I almost feel like she was side stepping the question until the very end when I asked point blank - if we come back to the hotel one night and stop at the front desk, will you be able to give us a print off of how many credits we have left and exactly what they are - child vs adults? Or, will the printout say that we have X amount of credits left and not specify who they are for?

She said they would be able to tell what type of credits were left - adult vs child. So, I guess, according to her, that yes, the credits are now separated and we will either have to ask for a printout every night if we take the kids to places without children's menus or chance dealing with a mess at the end when all we have left are childrens credits if they somehow took an adult credit for a child.

But again, different CM's, different answers, lol. I just wish someone who has actually had this happen to them would post!!! (and by that I mean someone who has actually called and requested a copy of the credits that show they are separated).

So for now I'm going with the assumption that the credits are separated and we had better make darn sure we (or in my case, my husband) is telling them to take off a child credit. (they like to eat at Casey's so I can see this being a problem for us, lol). I think I will threaten him that if he doesn't he will be the one eating child meals at the end of the trip!

Well, I guess now at least we know we can get a print out at the end of the day and straighten out any problems then. But that's just more work. Who wants to line up and deal with this at the end of a long day. Well, I guess I would have to!:sad2:

a couple issues here

first - the issue about posts on this topic.

Until this year, any discussions about cs credits usually ended with ways to do an end run around the intent of the DDP that CS credits are used for child meals. Our policy is and has always been to support the Disney policies. **no one is inferring that anyone on this thread or reading this has that intent**

People are reporting back that cs credits are separated btw adult and child. No one has to 'prove' it by showing a receipt :sad2: Please do not infer that folks are wrong or demanding additional detail. WE DON"T WORK FOR DISNEY - WE DON'T KNOW HOW IT WORKS!

Until more people have purchased and used the plan and comes back, everything is conjecture. No point in getting mad because no one is telling you, we don't have a clue!

Please be kind to others and I am sure more details will become available as more people use the plan and come back to report.

thank you!:drive:
